E30 325i

1986

i might just get the measurements for the bearing when i jack it up my self

will i need a special tool to get it off ? a press ? or should it be hand removeable

how do u replace brushes ? you dont need to replace the whole shock aye ?

you need a very large socket to get the bearings off (not sure what size - 48 mm from memory) , a 5 mm allen key, and a hammer.

you will probably split the old bearing in half taking it off but thats sweet, just make sure that when you tap the new one on you hit the socket so that you are hitting evenly and hitting the right part of the bearing, also don't forget to put the back cover of the bearing on first, if you've taken it off!

i got my front bearings fairly cheap from skf, but saeco etc are all the same - just call them up and tell them the make, model and they'll match you up to a part number.

a hammer

yay! haha just get new bearings from the dealer...cheaper than skf and must be good quality right? they have probably lasted the last 20 years or so?

i think its a 36mm socket..i cant be arsed going to look in the garage but its around that...if you really need instructions someone must have a write up somewhere..its not too hard though!

haha just rung up skf

and person i talked to quoted me $255 for the hub unit

cause aparantly i cant get to the bearing ?

lol i just want to replace the BEARING !

and thats aparantly not too difficult !

so where can i get the BEARING and only BEARING from

with out them trying to sell me the hub unit ASWELL!

What are the measurements of the bearing for a 325i E30 1986

so i can just ask for that sized bearing ?

does anyone have an opinion on this ?

is some one trying to rip me off

gus? do you have the part number for the bearing ?

what price did it cost you.

im still getting quoted like 200 for the freakn bearing . . . .

reakon some one could do a quick write up?

i suppose

jack it up

take wheel off duh

is the little center thing removeable ?

i cant see a 46mm bolt ? (is it under that )

thats my only problem, just a bit anxious of destroying stuff at the moment

you cant replace the bearing..the races are part of the whole hub unit..from BMW it is about 180ish

you cant see the nut, its under a yellowy metal dust cover

jack up

wheel off

remove cover

undo locking tabs on nut

wheel on

jack down

with breaker bar n 36mm socket undo nut (with wheel on ground so it doesnt turn)

jack up

remove wheel

remove wheel bearing..may need some force

socket can't have walls too thick and also you may need an extension on that breaker bar. It took 2 of us each with a meter leverage to loosen the nut.
