  6. Hi all - I have a 1997 528i Touring in Oxford Green which I bought for $1,000 in 2015. I'm steadily restoring it as time and money allow. I wasn't overly handy when I started, but thanks to Google and YouTube I can now do a fair bit of maintenance myself, which is not only a lot of fun and extremely satisfying, but also makes classic BMW ownership a relatively affordable hobby. I'd be keen to meet up with anyone in the greater Wellington area or thereabouts who'd like to team up to help each other out with repairs, retro-fits or whatever. I set up a Facebook group if you want to drop in and say Hi.
  7. Hi all - having just acquired @treone's awesome E60 M5 I'm wondering about the best place to get a bonkers vehicle like this serviced. I've been a loyal customer of Driscoll Motors on Walter Street for longer than I care to remember. They're a good bunch and service all makes and models including plenty of euros (inc this M5 BTW - and some AMGs) - but a specialist they are not. By default I'll keep going there and another bonus is that they are familiar with Autosure/Vero and have made sure my policies are being used when they can/should. They have done a solid job with my E53 X5 and E60 545i - only thing that they couldn't sort was troubleshooting/replacing the iDrive on the E60 and they don't have the BMW detail module for the AutoLogic code scanner (provides some more detailed explanation of the codes). So - interested in your thoughts and recommendations - what (if anything) would I gain by switching and using somebody like Page European etc? Cheers, Pete
  8. http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=1203579156 186kms, some display fade but tidy! Currently price is sitting at a tad over $4k... and auction closes in a week.
  9. http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=1191909677 Current owner had it for >15 years ; 184kms on the clock and for sale in Welly. Bit short on pictures but looks very nice!
  10. 194kms on it but looks to be in beautiful condition! Listing here. Very nice!
  11. About to do Auckland to Wanaka this week and back the next (hopefully with a bit more snowfall on the way!). The farthest I've driven before is just to Wellington and back. Does anyone have any tips about long driving in general but particularly catching the car ferry? Are you supposed to be there an hour beforehand to get everything sorted?
  12. Seems like a reasonable price - includes the $8K!? hard top too ... Apparently it is a 'rear' car too! http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=1121173703
  13. Relatively unusual model and I'm sure it goes great - it just looks a bit bland :\ http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1119895413.htm The Trade In Clearance place seem to often let their stock sit around for a long time rather than tweaking prices and moving it. I looked at their silver X5 SportPac before buying mine and they wouldn't sort the steering column (wouldn't move) and let the sale walk out the door pretty much. "Would you look at sorting that out?" "No." "Seeya"
  14. Looks very tidy given the 230kms and and at damned good reserve price of $5k! Got nice big 20's on it too ... http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1087767174.htm At this age and kms you can still happily chuck a Vero/Autosure MBI on it too... via MTF Mt Vic. Cheap, big and grunty - but do remember the 17l/100km for urban
  15. http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=1086628222 -100kms, $26k
  16. $6k for this 2001 735i with 245kms with beige interior in pretty good nick. Quite rare to see these in black - I think it looks good - especially with the right wheels on it
  17. http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=1081441559 "Im lead to believe that this was the last e28 to be sold new in NZ and was bought by the then BMW Club President. She has obviously been well taken care of over the years as the overall condition is pretty good. There are a few small dents but the car is rust and accident free. I bought it in April 2015 with a blown head gasket. The head was crack tested and rebuilt as well as the bottom end inspected. Internally the motor is perfect and it does not use/drip/burn any oil. The transmission shifts perfectly. I have replaced boot and door seals, new brake pads, filters, wheel bearings and the previous owner replaced the radiator and radiator hoses. I removed the interior and had everything cleaned, other than the rip in the drivers seat it has come up really nice. This model has the factory LSD and bilstein suspension and the car drives very smooth. I have done a couple of longer trips over the summer and its has been an awesome cruising car with surprisingly good fuel economy."
