How do you bring home the bacon?

Recommended Posts

I work in IT as a solution developer - which covers everything from requirements analysis, design and development to system implementation - the full lifecycle:)

No company car, don't really get out of the office during work hours (but do work from home sometimes).

Wow, this IS looking more serious......

I own an industrial laundry in South Auckland (no, it's NOT a laundromat - that's something else altogether!) and if I need to for any reason I can use one of our late model VW Transporter vans.

These days I mostly use the M3, but the plan is to finish off the engine/gearbox swap on the E3 3.0S and use that as a daily driver. Over summer, I used my old BMW motorbike  for commuting as often as circumstances allowed. My commute involves about 30km of open roads, no traffic lights, light traffic....... :D

I'm an IT Network Manager for large NZ govt Ministry. Been working with / building/ managing large computer networks since the late 80's

Have a small property rental company on the side for hopefully early retirement.

Don't have a company car as such, but use the 325i / 328i for our 25,000 km annual commute.

Whilst "DINC's my wife is an accountant hence our modest cars. Spare dosh goes into property and some discretionary income goes into Italian motorbikes and a coupe of old Mk1 Mini’s.

I'm with Grant. I was actually interested in what people did.

National Sales Manager for one of Tyco's divisions. Lucky enough to have a nice new Passat Variant. Although I spend equal amounts of time in a Hertz rental as I roam the countryside. My other transport is generally an Air New Zealand jet or turboprop.

Sitting at Auckland airport now and looking forward to catching up with the Dunedin crew this afternoon and the Hawkes Bay ones on Wednesday night.

Ciao, Cain

Do you know a Shane Sampson?

Do you know a Shane Sampson?

Not to my knowledge. Only been there 6 months, and half of that somewhere other than Auckland.

Some pretty interesting careers you all have.

University of Otago MA student - in Anthropology (specifically Archaeology), so no company car...

My first degree was in Architecture and after Otago I intend gain some experience working as an archaeologist, or heritage advisor (NZ Historic Places Trust or contract firm perhaps). Have worked for architects, NZHPT and DOC in the past.

In the long run I'll return to architecture, to specialise in the field of conservation architecture (restoring old buildings and tastefully adding to them).

I drive around in the company car all day long going to various 5-20 computer networks our company supports, as long as I bill more than 5.5 hours a day I can do pretty much what I want :)

PS - nice website grant.

Cheers - I like it as I can fully look after it myself and update it (although I am pretty slack at finishing it). I had a mate who does them as a sideline job set up the template, and I can add pages/content etc really easily (as easy as using MS Word really).

Cheers

Grant

I own and manage an Embroidery-Screen printing and Apparel business called Apex Apparel.

I work from a large studio on my residential property and have two company cars I don’t drive, go figure.

Ford Falcons suck and the new one is no better, cheap horrible plastics. One upside is that they are priced accordingly.

Random, I had a job done by you for one of my customers once, I designed their uniform. But you were based in Penrose at a factory.

I work in the Film Industry as a Post-Production person for Flying Fish/Fish 'n' Clips. Fish is New Zealand's oldest production company. We do a lot of the TVCs (non-retail) and music videos you see.

It usually means I don't really sleep and hence I'm never really on here anymore.
