I have had both 2002 530i msport and 2002 540 msport, nz new the 540 was best buy far. Fuel was average 5L per 100 more around 18 perr 100 around town, didnt bother us, petrol cost what it cost but if you can not afford to pay the gas you don't buy the v8. The 530 was good but I would have the 540 I over it any day...edit: get one while petrol is still cheap ?

Cars looking awsome!! Love that colour. My insurance tried to do the same 'its not genuine' parts on my last car when they were going to replace the front kit with some chinese knock off, anything to save a buck. Sometimes good to get a little angry with them hahaha

My premium went down by $20 a month after this incident.. I did get VERY angry with them and threatened to move.. Could be that... But yeah, still a potentially higher excess and loss of no claims bonus if you can't find who hit you (I asked)

My vanos seals finally arrived yesterday afternoon. When I got home from work I got into it, it took me longer then I thought it would, removing the old seals took more effort then I expected, the top one was no issue, it was the one underneath that kept giving me grief. But eventually I got those removed, cleaned up everything (that took a while, the vanos unit had all sorts of nasty sludge etc on it). Installing the new seals wasn't hard at all. By 11pm the car was all put back together, but annoyingly I cracked a piece of the radiator shroud, although its only cosmetic its still annoying. I just need check over it all and its ready to run finally. The new valve cover seemed to fit nicely compared to the old worn out warped one, so that's a good sign.

Not sure if general public can handle it. They have trouble handling Queen Street (30k), Ponsonby Road (40k), school zones, road works limits as they are. It will probably be 4k tolerance on the 110k stretches, sadly hardly any part of the motorway inside Auckland will be 110 capable (maybe the Hobsonville to Albany and the new part of the Western SH16/20 extension)
