part 7 is a common part that wears out , have replaced a few of these over the years in e28 e34 etc. when you remove them you can feel the play in the universal also the bottom balljoint on the track rod(centre drag link) get a lot of play in them .

More progress tonight ... half way there!! Not the best of my work, but function over form right? haha!!! I didn't bother gluing or double side taping the fabric down as I wasn't too sure how well it would turn out, so wanted to make sure it was reversible. My sewing machine's stitch spacing was a little odd so I ended up changing the stitching to suit ... looks okay-ish. If I did this again, I probably wouldn't bother with the M stitching (pain in the backside to do and it isn't that easy to pull tight - I'd do the "X" stitching method with two lines, much tighter and better looking).

Just an update for all you guys that helped make this happen - closed the deal last night and will be picking the car up in the next few days. BMW Tauranga were incredibly thorough and helpful with the inspection and answering all my questions, and apart from a few little bits, the car is in excellent condition. Now next mission is to find some OEM 19s..!

Yup I was looking at the R32 Golf mk 4 and 5, sound great but not much power. R32/33 is where I'd like to spend some $s too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
