.................but to answer your question:
M3 over 20 years old = registerable in NZ as a Category B LHD vehilce.
Exempt from emissions and impact regs if it is in fact in the above category

Hi Andrew.
I have just imported my second E30 M3 and have been driving it here now for a month. Give me a PM with you number and I will give you a text/call. Better if we discuss over the phone I think but I went from Zero to M3 and I am happy to talk you through the process anf give advice on what to look out for and where to buy them
-
Ooooooo you KNOW what that s14 carbon airbox sounds like too.....
-
If you ever want to have a chat about importing a car PM me and I'll give you my number. I sourced my M3 overseas and have now gone through the process right from purchase, importation to compliance and registration. Like the other guys have said you can import just about anything but you may not be able to register it for the road.
Anyway, happy to help.

Nice spotting Kieran, was Phils locale of choice! I think it works James, PM me your email address

You're not wrong Josh. The 1M is brutally fast yet seems to reward your driving abilities to no end... kinda like the E30. I love the 1M, I think it is a masterpiece, if only a little too quiet. It was pretty mean lining them up and taking them for a 'leisurely dawdle'.

Sorry boys, like phil said it was pretty impromptu. Definitely keen for a repeatdicks ... where was my invite

I saw it/one too! On college hill this morning. Couldn't got over how big it's brakes were. I took this pointless photo:
Also saw Dylan M3's new E30 M3 on Eden Terrace yesterday or the day before, looks great.

Thanks everyone for having such nice things to say! I will inevitably put it on the track at some point but for now I'm looking forward to the January BMW thing at Hampton Downs.
You're not wrong Graham, I wanted it to stay clean for the photos haha.... I'll wont be keeping it as a garage queen though!

If you did do the RHD conversion it would be $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ (Not sure exactly how much). Then youd have to get a LVV cert for it. Seems silly when you can get it registered and complied as a LHD with no hassles.
