How do you work out flywheel HP? My car had 136.1 kw @ 5400rpm, dynapack hub dyno. + 320nm @ 4160rpm. From memory, i think Gavin said the HUB dyno would read approx 8-10kw higher than ROLLER dyno with tyres. -
He seems to belittle everyone that dares ask a question. You would think a low k's lefty M5 would be worth something overseas, obviously not.

Nice Alteeza, did it have beams motor? (If you are passing Bavarian stop in and talk to Rob, most helpful chap.)

Electrics/electronics are going to be the biggest problem to keep older cars on the road. It's a bloody pain, if you look inside alot of the electronics they are standard consumer, not high temp stuff.Pisses me off.(Electronics tech myself)

Looks nice Brad, not stunning like the car. It's all very personal, you go with what YOU like is the best option. Cheers. -
Ray's got the options covered! All you need is the answer!!!! Which option???????

Graham, might pay to speak to Rob over at Bavarian. He has done one so can explain pitfalls/cost etc etc. Just a thought!

M30 big block 6 in E30, have a look if interested. http://www.e30.de/335i/00.htm

Peak horspower/torque thru the mid range counts for a lot when it costs you nothing (ecu/tune) compared to internal engine mods. Yes, will be cheaper to tune motronic but you still have barn door flap. Thats the prob with 2.7 build, you are correct. Hey, what do i know!! I'm just fiddling around for a hobby.
-
Forgot to tell you the big advantage with piggy back over just chip etc is the removal of the AFM, big difference!
-
All the best Brent!

Hi Graham, stating the obvious but the 2.7 build will be expensive (ecu + tuning small part) and only modest increase. The Alpina 2.7ltr was only rated at 210ps @ 5800, 289nm @ 4500. Have a good read on the overseas sites where they talk about it, maybe pickup a good later 2.8ltr?, unless you want to stick to M20. I fitted piggyback Map-ecu 2, call me on 5231711 if you need info on piggyback. Rgds Boris.

Any idea when your 850csi will be ready for shows etc? Maybe you could buy the ex sultans car as well???

Here is the Alpina Registry Link if anyone is interested, check out the Sultans B12!! http://www.thealpinaregister.com/B12/5.7/c...992%20-%201996)

Hi brad, not sure if you checked out Alpina B12 5.7 (416PS / 570nm)but it ran as follows: FRONT: 18x9 alloys, 245/40/18 tyres REAR: 18x10.5 alloys, 285/35/18 tyres Would assume your beast would take the same,(buy some classic Alpina alloys)

He wants $20,000. How do you value a left drive in N.Z????

That's a HARD hit! Wonder what speed would do that?? -
Don't forget guys, all modern cars use crappy recyclable plastics. They go hard and brittle with age. They also run the engine temp hotter for emmisions/fuel economy so cooling system is under a lot more pressure.

Here is Alpina Aust with their real world dyno results. People, you will be astounded at how little some older( & newer) cars are putting down to the rear wheels! http://www.alpinaaustralia.com.au/dyno/dyno_main.htm

I think from memory my stock M30 accepted 6-7 deg advance(top end rpm) running BP 98. We bolted on a knock sensor to monitor, anyway thats what we did.
