Real Estate makes money, cars don't. Buy the house!

Looks superb in red.

Nah thats o.k.I am only an average driver and still can't handle the M30 power properly! I wouldn't race a good car like that on the track. They reckon the 3.8 is not very rugged compared to the 3.6, anyone know why???

If you can't register it, you can't insure it, what happens if you run into another car on the road. You want a good car that you can sell/trade if you want etc.
-
Check out the cars on Pistonheads, good reviews/news etc.
-
Yeah but my Soprano days are behind me.(nickname Paulie) Makes it difficult to sell/value etc.

Nice low miles E34 M5, pity you can't bring in what you like anymore! http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/332499.htm

Alpina gives you the ultimate exclusive BMW!

B10 4.6 is not the same as above turbo in case some people don't know Alpina history. Sorry for confusion.

How about a B10 4,6 Killer punch E34, one of the best cars Alpina developed. http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/292377.htm

Yeah i remember when they released the Fiat coupe, BMW snapped him up immediately.I think when you look back in another 10yrs alot of his FASHION ideas will look stupid, I agree with you on the Z4,looks good.
-
Yeah would be good doing high speed Autobahn runs. Once you have the weighty E34 on the move 3rd hits the limiter with ease and 4th pulls pulls strongly till red line, strong torque above 2500 gives a good punch.

Head of design Bangle must go! Maybe he was a merc plant????

Hard to pin down price, most guys upgrade to E34 540i.I think Ray paid 16-17 for his 540is, low k's etc, still a fantastic set of wheels. I think your 6k guess would be a low mates rate price but who knows?? Get a few opinions or just test the market and see how many nibbles you get. Still a great high speed tourer, when BMW designed the E34 shell they paid special attention to using large panels rather than tacking smaller sections together.

Creaver if this car comes up, buy it. You can't go wrong buying a well looked after car.

Fantastic engine/mechanicals etc but the clothes it wears? If you look at most new BMW's they seem to all have sharp intersecting lines (headlights etc), slightly distorted kidney grille, the STYLE mode/theme encompasses different themes from front to back.

Thats excellent Cain, the M30 engine couldn't achieve those figures unless i put an egg under my shoe!

The only way to compare approx power between cars is the use of the same dyno on the same day with the same operator.

All the comments about the E34 are pretty much spot on. It is the best saloon for the $$$, when released in 1988 Mercedes stated it was "too cheap for a car like that". The 540i is a massively powerful car, i would go for the manual 6 speed any day.(540is) The manual boxes will outlive any auto (another expensive rebuild), the only downside with the V8 is high mileage rebuilds will cost a pretty penny.(plenty around so hopefully drop another engine in) The only other issue now is fuel cost, depends how deep your pockets are. If anyone has a faulty E34 dash cluster i can replace all the caps etc.(electronic techo)

This was listed and sold on Trademe a month ago.I phoned the owner and he said he sold it to these people. Find out why the quick resale.

Yes, Map 2. Tuning can take a few hours but anyone with BMW M30 engine can now download my map from their site so you would only need slight variations to compensate for your engine characteristics etc.(you could drive immediately) Better economy when cruising at motorway speeds, no diff town driving.Don't know about co2. The good thing about map-ecu is you can hook it up in learn mode with your old air flow meter and it builds up a base map.

What a beast! This is what the first E31 should have been, not just a stock 5ltr. Congrats on a fine machine.
