The new gauge cluster I had to make some adapters for the gauge sensors-the oil sensor was a bit big so it had to be mounted on an angled

I bailed from work today and did some work on the car instead. Managed to get the last of the brake lines made and bled up the brakes. Got all the radiator and heater hose installed- plus used the heater control valve from the E36 as my 2002 was leaking. Plumbed up the power steering. drive shaft on, check and filled all the fluids. Started on getting some wiring in. got a long way to go here as I want to rerun all the wiring to the front through the guard and not through the engine bay. Also because I'm using the e36 column this creates extra wiring work. Did make up a gauge cluster and mounted the battery in the boot.
  8. I wired up a Beams motor into a ae86 last month. Goes ok in a lite car. The Altezza is just to heavy a car for them. A sr20det is a good upgrade but has been done to death. Good choice for a 4cylinder NA motor unless you have heaps of coin then a s2000 would be in order. Note- if you are going to use the Factory ECU don't f##k with the air box.

I started on the repairs that were needed in the engine bay tonight. Removed all the wiring and cut off any bracket that wasn't needed. I put some rust kill on any surface rust I found

sure are- 4agze Going to add a map sensor next to help control the timing. The kit can have two ignition maps - say for if you are using different fuels .

Good news tonight- I got the engine running using the Jaycar ignition kit and a wasted spark module from NZEFI. Due to the programmable ignition controller being only a single channel system, I had to modify the factory M44 camshaft encoder just to give me a signal for cylinders 2&3. Then the signal from the factory cam sensor was put into the wasted spark module. This module toggles the output from the controller to fire 1&4 and then switches to fire 2&3. I used a Subaru reluctor and installed bolts in the front pulley to give the ignition controller a reference for cylinder 1 & 2 TDC.

Thanks- it would seem that only M44 has the plate and not on a m42. I just thought there may have been a similar thing on the m42

I'm looking for a picture of the plate that bolts to the cam that the sensor picks up, like the plate that is on the inlet cam in the photo

    M44/M42 Help

Are there any M44/M42 nuts on here It looks like the camshafts are adjustable- slotted holes behind the retaining bolts Is the socket doweled? If I undo the four bolts holding on the socket can I change the cam timing? Does anyone have a photo of the cam shaft encoder off a M42?

I got the first stage of the Jaycar programmable ignition working today. I still have to make something to switch the output for the wasted spark.
