Does the dishwasher do a good job? What "detergent" do you use?
I've suddenly remembered by parents have one sitting in their garage that works fine, but they're too chicken to use as it leaked and ruined their floor. A leak in my garage is no big deal...
It does a mean job, I just use any dishwasher detergent. Its supplied with hot water only, I have never tried cold water

Thanks for that.
Interesting- the E36 318ti first reg 1998 that I got the m44 out of has no cat. I still have the factory exhaust from this car.

The heater fan has never worked since I've had this car. I removed the heater assembly to find the fan motor burnt out. I found an old window wiper motor that was of similar size under the bench. I then machined off the gearbox and connected the old fan blade to it. It works well.
The disassembled heater in my parts washer- just an old dishwasher really

Just a bit of mucking around tonight.
Put some under seal back on the floor where the tunnel had been modified and where rust had been repaired.

That Jaycar kit looks interesting, i hope it works out well
I'm not sure if it will work out. but already had it so I thought I would give it a try.
Just need to add a change over circuit so it will run wasted spark.

what are the new cert laws I see you guys taking about?

I decided to try and make my own ignition system using a kit I have had for a few years now. Basically just trying to save costs.
-
Also started on repairing the tunnel where I had been beating it with a hammer to give it more clearance to the gearbox. I cut the floor back 20mm and then tacked in some new panels

I used the fan from the E36. I removed it from its factory surround and made an new ali surround. Also welded a bracket for the power steer reservoir

yup me aswell, on a 16V with ITBS!
what is needed for M44?

has anyone here had anything to do with megasquirt?

Today I replace the hand brake for the E36 unit. Also sent some time inside the car cleaning up all the surface rust and applying rust kill. Started filling in the old bonnet mount holes and removed some rust from above the front indicators
the old 2002 hand brake mount
the new E36 handbrake installed and working

Dam- I wish my tig work looked like that
Car started red but is black. Did I miss something?

Had a panel beater mate come around after work tonight. He put my mind to rest about a few things that need attention. Then some beers came out-
out come- no work got done today.

Tonight I moved inside the car. I am going install the seats out of the E36 ti, firstly I had to cut out the factory 2002 seat mounts and then install some more suited to the E36 seats

nice work , wish i could weld like that .
na not realy , would rather pay some one to do it for me

I would hate to have to pay for all the welding I have done on this

The old bonnet stays have been replaced for gas ones
This is the only picture I could find where you can see the old bonnet stays
the new gas stays

The steering coupling was still an issue, it was just to short.
So a 24mm spacer was needed. I'm still not sure about this but I have steering

A bit of an update
The car now has a throttle.
had to make a new throttle cable bracket
The old accelerator pedal was crap so a replacement needed to be installed
-
Now far to go now
looks good

Also today I got the pedal box mounted up. Due to a design fault (made by me) the clutch master cylinder didn't have a enough room to get the cap off (to close to the steering column above) so I cut about 10mm out of the cylinder and then welded the tread back on.
The weld marks above are from the reinforcing plates I put the outside of the fire wall, just to give the fire wall some more strength.
-
Mounted the steering column today. Had to cut off the mounting bracket for the E36 and make new a one to suit the 2002 mounting point

It won't be getting installed until the engine bay has be painted
