You must be happy with you that, that time looks pretty good to me.
I was at Manfield for superlap with the Gtr. Had no 5th gear and couldn't change down into second once the gearbox got hot. It was a bit of a wet day IIRC. Yes I've got all the excuses.
How did you go at Taupo? I got a 1:56 out of the 2002 but most laps were around the 1:58. I had a mate driving as well his first time on a race track. He got down to a 2:06

Are we starting to see a pattern here ... get car ready before september taupo track day ?
Not this car but I will bring the 2002 to the Megameet
The window tinting man didn't turn up today so I couldn't put the windows back in.
I thought I would replace the fuel filter, spark plugs and oil tonight but I think repco may have given me the wrong plugs as I think that the car should have resistor plugs. Anyway I changed the fuel and oil filters.
I had a bit of a a play with the AFM

what is wrong with the old motor?
-
Got some more bits on the car today

daaam that cheap
I'm sure it will cost me more at some time, but hes a good mate
once I got it home I couldn't leave it alone
I have removed the driving lights as I can see these just ending up damaged anyway, and installed some black mesh

Good choice on the compact and good buy at 600, Should be a fun little car.
Will be watching!
I've been watching your compact project

sounds good , why not stuff a 328i m52 engine and manual into it while you have the engine out??
good torque for hill climbs??
The end plan is it put a M52 in, but in under two years my oldest boy can get a motorsport Licence so I will keep with a 4 pot until he is ready to move up.

I have started another Bmw project. This one will take a little longer to complete compared to the 2002 project.
The plan is over the next two years is to take this 600 dollar trademe 318ti and transform it into club car for hillclimb's and track days. I want it be used on gravel and tarmac.
Its not going to be a big budget car and will most likey only to get developed as things break. In saying that I will change the Auto to a Manual, Replace the front solid disks to vented units, install the safety items like rollcage, seats and so on. But for this year my goal is just to get it reliable as road car.
Like as a many of us have found out (usually the hard way) that when you buy something off trademe sometimes there are few things that are forgotten to be mentioned by the person selling the car. Like for example, don't try and use the electric windows as the reg's are stuffed, or don't leave the keys in the ignition as the immobiliser will lock you out, or the best one if you leave the car over night it can be a little hard to start due to all the water in number 2 cylinder
Lucky for me a good mate owns a wreakers and got me a replacement M42
Freebie

The car has be parked for almost a month now. I'm going through withdraw, so I finally fixed the horn and ordered some new door seals from the US
Due to the column I used being of a airbag model the horn circuit used the Clock spring, so I had made a rangi contact out of a piece of welding wire. This worked well for a little while until it started to grind its way through the brass ring on the back of the steering wheel. I picked up a contact off a E36 without an Airbag a few months back and just hadn't got around to changing it.
A non airbag horn contact
The contact I made from welding wire , you can see where the new contact mounts below the steering shaft
Succuss- no more grinding noises from the steering wheel

Nice, I miss rallying
