Other downside is that the auction was held yesterday, wonder what it went for?
-
That depends on who's car it is, and what you like. What you like best is what looks best on your car!
-
Vin Numbers are WBAAF620802615268, shows as dec 88, with the M40, makes it a facelift I believe, anyone interested.
-
Not sure, but I'll get the vin off him to check and post back here.

Picked up a 318 motor and auto today and the guy's got a dark blue coupe shell sitting on the farm dump, anyone interested, going cheap I would guess? Seems straight, has doors, boot and bonnet, side glass, but no screens front or back, no rust I could see. No front suspension, but rear looks intact, front disks there, back is drums. Pm me and I'll give you his email and ph no. You'd need a trailer, he'd pick it up and put it on for you.

Anyone know this car, http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=59418925 What's it worth, common or rare?
-
Any ideas on where I might be able to get a set? Thanks.
-
Can't get any 15 x 7's can you?
-
Thanks, but the 1987 E30 318 coupe I'm looking at is a manual, getrag 240 box, so I'm hoping to just change the M10 in it for a M40. Does that box bolt straight up to the M40?
-
By the way, it has traction control, TV, and will have a proper BMW nz band radio
-
Very nice Cain, but that money's going into my E30 racer!
-
Looks real nice, but I think he's trying to get rid of a car, not changing to another?
-
Decided that I really aren't comfy in an automatic, so it has to go. Recent Jap import, ex cond Just fully serviced, all fluids and filters. only 97,600 kms and looks like it. see here http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=58679217 Features: ABS brakes Air conditioning Alarm Alloy wheels Central locking Driver airbag Passenger airbag Power steering Excellent unmarked condition. Full Black Leather, as new Fully optioned, but no PDC Have decided I need a Manual. Would be interested in Trading down to a 89 - 92 manual 535i BMW if anyone is interested. About $5,500 diff for a nice one maybe.

Have had a reply from Colin Briscoe, and he says no problem as long as specs are adhered to. So, is it reasonably easy to do, or not?
-
Thanks guys, have done.
-
Thanks Gus, will do that, the car that's been built and was at the AGM was a 316 which they're changing to a M40 318 if I remember right wasn't it?
-
If they're all governed by minimum weight limits, maybe they need to look at allowing it, as there seem to be a few pre f/l 318 coupe's around at reasonable prices, and changing to the M40 would surely not be too much of a problem? So long as the shell etc is the same as the pre f/l 320, and the motor conforms to the specs, maybe it needs to be looked at if it's going to allow a few more cars in.
-
Hi, sorry, didn't realise that pre f/l 318's and 320's had different shells.
-
Hey Andy, how much for the full kit to convert to manual? Thanks, David.
-
I've just reread the specs, and don't see that anywhere. As I read, you must have an E30, with the m20 or m40 engine, and standard apart from that? What would the pre facelift 318 have after you'd changed the engine system to the m40, that would advantage it? Thanks
-
Thanks, but they aren't eligible for the E30 series, Something to do with the fact that they are L-jet, and you can manage the motor. Still want to use the M10, but in the 4 door auto for my kid.
-
I've got me eyes on 2 cars, a 86 318 manual coupe, and an 89 318 auto 4 door, and want to know how straight foward an engine only swap is as I want to set the coupe up as an E30 series racer. Guess I want to know if the M10 and M40 motors can be interchanged? What problems will I encounter, and can it be done, the auto will become a car for one of my kids. Any help appreciated.

Does that mean you can export the NZ M3 to Aus for 3 mths, and re-import it, and get it registered and vinned?
-
Wouldn't the aussie one need to be changed to RHD as well, it's not 20 years old yet?
