All sorted.....god I love the internet A little bit of free software called myphoneexplorer and job done. Can sync between my k800i and both thunderbird and lightening, and it even keeps a copy of everything within itself as a backup !

Carl, I was just talking about not bothering to compress the video, sure remove all the extra rubbish (which I hear DVD Shrink is excellent for) but whats the point of having a whacking great LCD and an HD capable graphics card and then compressing the video so you can save on disk space ? 15 mins to get the movie in all its glory and your done....no messing about with avi's. Jammaster, sorry mate I was talking about hard-disk space being cheap not the DVD's themselves.
-
With disk as cheap as it is, why bother with the compression ? There's 1.5Tb in my cupboard which means you can watch the movies in all their HD goodness :-)

I can tell you from personal experience that they can definately go over 70mph !

If its a genuine Alpina (and they are listed as the manufacturer) then weve just shown that you cant import it anyway. Dont be convinced just because it has the wheels, gearknob and especially the dash plaque. You can buy all those off ebay for god sake, its SO easy to fake an Alpina its not funny.

I get the 325, my wife takes the 740 on the school run !

2000 euros sounds very very cheap even just for shipping never mind packing aswell. I used to work for a shipping company and the costs for a 20' from London are USD1400 for the shipping alone. Collection and packing charges in the UK will more double that.Port service charges and documentation etc in nz will be around nzd1000 if the customs clearance is easy and then you will have GST on top of that if you cant convince customs that its all for personal use. If you have half a dozen people involved then you wont get away with a single clearance (and will definately pay GST) and MAF will get involved, then your probably looking at closer to 2k at this end. MAF are now very strict on what type of wood can be used for packing and if its not used they will go through to whole container piece by piece at $100 an hour and even then will probably fumigate the whole lot and charge you for destroying whatever was used to pack the container ! To do a 2x1x1 metre case in the correct wood is gbp 500 alone.

Is sync'ing your contacts etc possible with Thunderbird. Ive just installed it and its all looking ggod but I cant see any options to sync to my bluetooth enabled k800i I really want to give thunderbird, firefox and open office a good try but without being able to sync my contacts its pretty useless I know a couple of people here use thunderbird, so what are you doing ?

Then what the hell is she doing in a beauty contest !?!?!?!?!?!?!

I had superlows in the back and the rear arch was just over the bottlecap !

Foxy is right about the $400, below that its generally no duty or gst. Above that to about $600 it depends on the customs person that you get and whether you can blag them as for personal use only. You can do all the customs work yourself at any price, you dont need an agent. However unless your bringing in something small and easy it does help to know what you are doing.

Everyone is going to have their own ideas on what a fair price would be.....and they will all be different. What happened to the '1500 right here right now' ? Just dont buy the tyres, you will never make back the money you spend on them now and you will cut your market right down by starting at 2500.....thats just my opinion of course. The only way you are going to sell them is to put them up for sale. Unfortunately we have a history of people on here saying they would give anything for a tech1 kit/tech2 kit/turbo/alpinas only for them to go quiet when they are available. Bite the bullet mate and stick them on TM. Id be well in for them, but I dont have a car for them to go on....having said that, I bought the 16' Alpinas without a car to put them on !

You can do better than that mate. manual 325i touring

Just put everyone out of their misery Laurence and put them on TM ! Im sure there will be plenty of interested parties

Im with Paul, sod working it all out, Id just get someone to stick a whacking great 750 v12 in it and do whatever it needed to make it go. Cosmetically Id cover it with Alpina goodies -
Hah, I put some rear lights for my e38 on with a 50 dollar start, no reserve and got no interest at all. A week later I put them on again with a 100 start, 150 reserve and they went with a 250 buy now, 30 mins after I listed them ! Trying to get back on topic though, Id only seen your intial posts saying you wanted 13k so was very surprised to hear you had it on TM for 8k. Although I may have seen one saying 10k+ I saw nothing else hinting at such a huge price drop ! I guess its all in the marketing after all.

We know what your doing

Hate to drag up and old thread but thought Id post about what Ive been up to tonight. Decided to bite the bullet and try the urban myth of sticking the drive in a plastic zip-lock bag and sticking in the freezer. Didnt even need to bother doing that, stuck it in a bag between two ice packs whilst connected up to an external usb enclosure and job done Drive works well and Ive just dragged off everything of any value. So now its all going onto DVD for safe keeping.

Let me think about that one.....Maybe for a M535 body kit

What experience do you have of third world healthcare ?

Not quite the transformation that Bravo has done but Im pleased with how its coming along. Firstly the 4x4 look had to go and so KYB's and Kings have gone in, second the chrome was shadowed, third the white stripe was removed from down the sides with clear sides and red rears and lastly the Alpinas have gone back on after picking up two Toyo Proxes for 11 bucks Tech 1 rear wing is going on soon and hopefully some SE sides have been sourced, just have to decide on what to do at the front now. Whether I will settle for an is lip or go the whole hog and bring an Alpina front out from the UK. Decisions decisions ! First there was this.... Then came this.... and today its looking like this....

As a guide, my 1990 325i with leather, cruise control, aircon, electric sunroof/windows/mirrors, obc, check control with 95k on the clock cost me 3k. At 4.5k Id say you had no chance, but Ive seen cars go for that money so it can be a bit of a lottery really. If you have spent plenty of cash and have the manual to go in it....keep it and have some fun
