  1. As the topic states. Who is interested in TV in motion for E60s? My boss forked out a bundle for a module that enables TV in motion via the OBD port and is interested to recoup some of the cost by enabling a few others. PM me if you are interested. Cheers
  2. I kept an eye on these for a long time and only saw four with cloth. Three were silver and manual, one red SMG. One was a very early press / photography car which came in ex Germany at a few thousand kms (18" wheels though), one was an import (not sure if Singapore or Japan) - interestingly had no CD (MD behind 16:9 screen, no CDC) and the last one was apparently NZ new but had aftermarket 19" chrome alloys - never saw it in the flesh. Red one was ex Japan. Standard NZ spec included leather to the best of my knowledge. I reckon this car will sell at about $35k + Turners tend to feed the greed with their estimates and bidders get carried away on the day.
  3. OK, thanks. So I'll have to extend the loom and the antenna from the boot to the dashboard and buy the adapters. Anything else I need to consider?
  4. As the topic states. How hard is this to do? Eg remove the monitor from the front, video module, CD changer and tuner from the back then install a standard DIN CD player up front. I may have found someone willing to give up their monitor but need to leave them with a CD / Stereo. Cheers Matt
  5. Some good news here. I had a response from the Radio Network. Apparently their plan is to roll out RDS to Rotorua next then Napier. They don't have a timeframe but hope for this year.
  6. Thanks for the replies guys. Mark, please PM me those details when you get a chance. Would be nice if Hawkes Bay could catch up to the rest of the country!!
  7. Hi All, Here in Hawkes Bay we seem to be behind the rest of the country in terms of our FM broadcasting hardware. The only radio station that broadcasts RDS in Hawkes Bay is the National station. I've done some research and found that the hardware needed to transmit RDS - an RDS Encoder isn't a costly piece of equipment - they start at about US$500 up to about US$2000. Even a small community radio relying on donations on the North Shore manages to have this technology but the commercial stations don't, anyone know why? I've contacted the Radio Works and am waiting a call back from them. Is it harder / more expensive that it seems? Am I missing something? Even some mobile phones do it these days. It would be nice for all those RDS equipped cars to be able to use what they already have. Some sources here: http://lenny.dmlive.co.nz/summatives/03/ http://www.rds-encoder.com/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_Data_System http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_stati..._in_New_Zealand Cheers Matt
  8. Does anyone have or know of a MK4 Nav drive for sale? If so please let me know. In the meantime I'll keep looking for a deal on ebay. Cheers
  9. Not yet... I doubt I'd use it but I'm happy to be a guinea pig for Jochen if he wants to try. TCU VR can't do Nav - only phone.
  10. A big thanks to Jochen and Dean "Dogballs" for their help in getting this working. 4 Hours with Jochen on skype on Skype on Saturday morning and then further time Saturday night / Sunday morning, several new Navcoder betas and I have sucessfully paired my phone to my car with my GSM TCU. I've got full address book in the TV, signal strength in the TV, etc and it works really well. Apparently this is only the second one to work sucessfuly - the other one in Belgium last week. I can't say enough thanks to those guys! Interestingly it uses the "Phone Access Server" bluetooth profile (ULFs and other BMWs I have paired with use the "Hands-Free Unit" profile) and therefore some BT phones won't be able to find the car when doing a search - this is the case for my Blackberry Pearl and Motorola Razr. However my Blackberry Bold and wife's Sony C510 work perfectly. Cheers Matt
  11. Servicing costs aren't too bad considering the performance. I use Andrew Hollywood Motors instead of going to a BMW dealer - they are actual mechanics rather than technicans and charge a fair price. I also buy my parts off shore and save a bundle in the process. I travel to Europe for work at least once a year to bring any parts back with me. I like my cars to be in good shape so address any issues sooner rather than later. When I bought the car I had a PPI done which revealed a few minor issues (bushes, PS hoses, etc) that I resolved straight away. Those issues coupled with the Inspection 1 and a pair of tyres probably totals $1.5-$2k spent on it in the last 12 months. Then add another $600-$700 for OEM bluetooth - because I like my toys! I think the trick is to buy one that has been well maintained. I looked at the one at Tradin Post for reference when I was in Auckland for a concert and if all else was equal I'd happily pay another $10k for my car. I used to say I've never seen a rough E39 M5 and although that one isn't a basket case, it needs some TLC. The one above looks like a nice car - I'd be interested to see it in the flesh.
  12. That is a lot of car for the money! Has anyone looked at it? Its been for sale for a while - is there a reason why? It wouldn't be hard to be a better car than the one at Tradin Post.
  13. Yes, I have got a Bluetooth antenna connected to the TCU. Even if I hold the phone up against the TCU it still won't pair. My work email address has gone down so I have just sent you an email form my gmail account for the TCU diag info. Thanks Matt
  14. Sorry, my bad. You are correct, MID was the wrong term, I was meaning the Check Control Display. Cheers PS, email address sent
  15. Thanks Jochen, I'll post back my results as soon as I've got Navcoder hooked up.
  16. A quick update: I've tried to pair a second phone (Motorola Razr) and still no joy. I also tried a Voda sim instead of the T-Mobile.de just to see if it made any difference - no change from the T-Mobile sim. Could it be that BT needs to be enabled on the TCU? Other forums (US based) mention that TCUs for model year 2004 have the BT logo but don't actually have BT. My unit is from December 2004 (2005 model year) so should be OK - is there any way of verifying this is not my problem?
  17. That last post was from my phone so here is some further info about the unit I have from the stickers on it: 84.11 6965055-01 232923 23 USA 21.12.2004 BMW EVEREST IBUS ECE SW:30 HW:35 BT: 00E00C5D21E3 PK: 8676 IMEI: 352884003346633 EIX0000035 EVEIBS33H5 It also has a BMW logo, Motorola logo and bluetooth logo. Would have been easier to post a picture but my camera isn't here. I've found some other posts where the problem has been the actual phone but I've paired it with other BMWs before without issue. Any help or advice appreciated.
  18. Good news and bad news. I've plugged it in and it is recognised by the car (I get the telephone menu in the TV). However, when I select telephone the car than displays "Activate Phone". This is also shown on the MID when I press the phone button on the steering wheel. I've tried both the ULF pairing procedure (using the button on the eject box) and the TCU pairing procedure but my phone can't find the car. It let's me attempt emergecy calls but as I haven't yet connected the antenna they don't connect. Any ideas?
  19. Fingers crossed. I've downloaded Navcoder but don't have the interface yet (it should arrive next 10 days or so - coming back from Europe with Father in Law). I think "Dogballs" has one and is only 20 mins down the road so hopefully I can use that in the meantime. Many thanks for your replies. Cheers Matt
  20. Part number is 84 11 6 965 055. Good news about it being in Navcoder. In theory should the BT side of thing be plug and play? It has a sim card reader in this TCU also. It came with a T Mobile sim in the slot.
  21. TCU has arrived today from Germany although its a different part number to the one I ordered - the part number is not listed on realoem. Still has the BT logo on it so I'll give it a go tonight and see what happens.
  22. Anyone see what this sold for? I missed it?
  23. Thanks Jochen! However it seems to be that the only 5mm I can find is the RG58. I'll keep looking. Cheers
