  1. After a shipping debacle my Nav drive finally arrived last week. After a couple of issues and a lot of help from Dean aka Dogballs it is was up and running pretty quickly. I've also managed to get a 2010 map DVD which is great. A great toy to have in the car!! So much better than other Nav systems out there. Its visually much better than the E60 / E65 nav I've used - 3D view, etc. So far I've retrofitted: Bluetooth - initially TCU then ULF BM24 Radio Module (RDS, TMC, etc) 16:9 Monitor and Video Module MK4 Nav Not sure if there is much else left to do now! Cheers
  2. Cool, thanks. I guess the only option for video then is to buy the official Apple cable, chop the USB off and wire it to 12v.
  3. I want to run a cable from the AV input in the boot of the car to the glovebox or similar so that I can play the videos from my iPhone (iPhone 4 if it makes any difference) on the OEM monitor. I also want it to charge the iPod / iPhone. I know that a few years ago this was easy but apparently Apple changed things and now an auth chip in the end of cable is required for the iPhone to output any video. Can anyone help me with finding one of these? Here is one I've seen on eBay UK which may do the job however the seller makes no promises it will work. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...E:X:RTQ:GB:1123 Are there any available locally that are known to work? Cheers Matt
  4. I'm after a cheap 4:3 E39 monitor with wood trim. A couple have sold on TM recently but none on there at the moment. Let me know if you have one. Cheers Matt
  5. Hi, not bidding on nav parts just monitor / TV module. Not sure why, I already have a big box of nav / tv parts in the garage which are gathering dust!
  6. Many thanks. I've bought a new in box MK4 Nav drive. Looking forward ot fitting it!
  7. I have a NZ new E39 M5 with the standard OEM TV but no Nav. I'm off to the UK on Saturday for a very quick trip and thought I'd pick up a MK4 DVD Nav drive over there. I already have the bracket to physically hold the DVD drive (bought this when I retrofitted Bluetooth TCU) and as I have TV I obviously already have the Bordmonitor and Video Module. What else do I I need to complete the retrofit? GPS antenna - any particular part number? Wiring loom from car to Nav drive (looks like there is already a plug for this in the boot behind the passenger's side wheel arch). Wiring loom from Nav to Video module. Is there anything else I need? Does anyone have a suitable loom for sale here in NZ? Any other info or advice appreciated. Cheers Matt
  8. Far less than actually commit crimes...
  9. Yes please. PM me how much you are after. Cheers
  10. Thanks Jochen, The menu option does not appear unfortunately so I guess its 4:3 only.
  11. I agree 100% with E90 M3. When some piece of scum broke into my shed earlier this year it took 3 days for the Police to come around - not that they actually make any attempt to solve the crime - it doesn't generate revenue. Yet at any one time there is an army of Highway Patrol Officers sitting on the side of the road waiting to catch you doing 111km/h or in this case 105km/h. When was the last time you saw a cop waiting outside a bank to catch a robber? I have a theory that the criminals of this world (ie the ones who broke into my shed + more serious criminals) are not driving around in cars with registration and WOFs. However, these individuals are also not the demographic who pay fines and therefore aren't "worth" persuing. I notice these cars and verify their lack of WOF and registration with CarJam with about an 80-90% success rate on the vehicle not having 1 or both of the necessary requirements. Why don't the Police target these vehicles and impound them / sell them and use the proceeds to pay the owners fine? This would a, get a non-roadworthy car off the road and b, make it much harder for criminals to get around and commit actual crimes, giving the real Police less to do. I believe that this would lead to both safer roads and safer communities yet as it doesn't have the revenue stream of speeding fines I'm sure the Police will continue to turn a blind eye. Just my 2c!
  12. Is there a way to tell if a video module is 4:3 or 16:9 by part number? Specifically is the following module 16:9? Part number 6 906 923, version HW 04, SW 10, made by Loewe -> Lear on 06/00 Diagnostic index 02, Bus index 11, Coding index 02 If it doesn't come up with the option to change to 16:9 is that conclusive or do I need a 16:9 monitor for the option to appear? This page seems to imply that it might be 16:9 compatible: http://www.bimmerboard.com/forums/posts/230716/ Cheers Matt
  13. Nice car. Did you remove the nav from the 330 before you traded?
  14. How much does your FM and TV reception suffer when your windows are tinted?
  15. Jeff Gray from JG BMW owns this car.
  16. Let me know what you end up going with. My car feels pretty tight but if the replacements don't cost the earth it might be worth replacing them.
  17. Napier. 2 Litres of ELF Synthese or MTF-LT-2? How much? Cheers
  18. Tried that. They have to bring in a 5 litre from Germany and won't sell 2 litre by itself.
  19. Thanks for the replies. Interesting that my car and Simon's use the same box. However realoem only gives me the option for the MTF-LT-2 label where his also give the ATF. Link for my car: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?mo...hg=23&fg=05 So where does that leave me? BMW will sell me 5 litres of MTF-LT-2 for $246 + GST - I only need 2 litres. Or am I safe to get any old 75w80?
  20. Yep, Garry is doing it. He seemed to think it was ATF that goes in there. Some forums agree, others don't. Do our cars share the same 'box?
  21. I'm having an Inspection II done on my car (at an independent garage) in the next couple of weeks and at the same time I want to change the gearbox oil. BMW says its a lifetime fill but I'd still like to change it. After some google research it seems I need MTF LT-2. Is this available anywhere other than BMW? Is there an equivalent I could buy? Any help or advice re which oil to use and where to source it will be appreciated.
  22. $56k + fees from memory.
  23. I have a very similar problem on my car. Does the M5 use the same part? I've been told that the M5 has an additional pump...
  24. I have a similar but different problem. My car blows the same temperature air out of both sides (I always have the temp set the same for both) but seems to always blow hot air out of the windscreen and floor vents, regardless of the temperature I set. Even if its 16 degrees they still blow hot air. If I turn the AC on it is colder but its still a combination of the hot and the AC air. The only way I get cold air is to set the little dial on the centre vents to cold, set the air to only come out of those vents (eg turn the other vents off) and turn the AC on. Coming into winter its not really an issue but it would be nice to find the cause and have cold air out of the floor and the windscreen vents. Any ideas what this could be? Can I test it somehow or is it a matter of replacing parts until it works properly? Cheers Matt
