Hi My daughter has been quoted $500 to have the headliner replaced. I tried another upholster however they were not interested in doing this. Is this a reasonable price? The car is a motorsport with black headliner. If I were to do this myself, any idea where I can fine the correct fabric? Cheers

How did you get on with the PCV valve?

How did this turn out? I am also looking at a 2010 X540d with 190kms. Two owner with full dealer service history. I was a bit concerned when doing some research around the cam chain and con rod bearing issues with this engine. I asked two two independent BMW workshops, the smaller one advised that he cam chain is a big issue and costs around $10k. The other larger workshop advised that they had only done one and cost was about the same. This is approx 1/2 the cost of the vehicle and as this is going to be the wife daily drive and to tow a hose float around the north island, has put me well off getting it. any other experiences with this engine around camchains etc? Cheers

The Bimmergeeks looks good, of course I have an apple phome..............................😎

Hi Jacko Will have a look at the Bimmergeeks site. The main issue I have found is that theISTA/ INPA programmes I tried wont run on a WIN10 system or requires you down load files from several sources and play around with them which is beyond me. The other tool which looks good on paper is the TopDon SMARTDIAG MINI ODB Diagnostic Scanner (Launch ThinkDiag) but is a subscription based system.

Hi After a stand alone scanner that is able to show trans fluid temp and reset the trans computer on E87 and E90 as well as all the usual service and reset tools. Other family have Ford and Landrover so hopefully l0oking to cover those brands as well with one tool. Not particularly interested in paying annual subscription either - am I asking to much??? oh and dont want to spend much over $500.................................... Tried to down load and set up ISTA etc but failed miserably. Been looking at the Foxwell NT530 https://www.stahlcar.nz/systems-tools/foxwell-nt530?sort=p.number_sales&order=DESC&limit=30

Hi I ave been looking for the same to do my daughters 2010 Ford Territory eith the 6spd ZF trans. The best response I got is below from local (hawkes Bay) transmission specialist. We do have about 7 liters of Lifeguard 6 left as $45 per liter, or we usually use Lubegurd full synth at $18 per liter. Plastic pan sump is $218.50. All is in stock and plus GST. Hi Thats sort of what I was thinking as well. Not worth the 8hr round drive to go see. I was under impression these 6 cylinder BM motors are quite robust internally.

Thanks, I'im well used to leaky vehicles having had landrovers. I thought they were being very environmentally friendly returning the oil to the ground where it came from,

Hi Pixels on the professional model have died, can just make some out first thing i the morning. This seems to be common and looks like a simple job to replace the screen Anybody know of a local (NZ) source for the LCD screen, or recommend any of the numerous overseas suppliers? Many thanks Justin (Hawkes Bay)

Hi I have been looking at a 2005 118i with 146km on the clock (NZ new). How noisy are the injectors? there is a definite clicking noise. Was not to worried about this until read about the cam chain issues. What would the warning signs of a failing cam chain tensioner/guides. Thanks

Hi Iv looked at this and the cost, ( freight etc) was getting up there in price. Other option I have thought about is to use the Toyota 1uz fe alloy V8, manual g/box adapter are readily available and not too hard on wallet. would be nice to keep project all "factory" though.
-
Hi Any kits available to convert auto V8 to a manual g/box. I have not seen any manual V8s available locally. Looking at putting the V8 into an E30 and most of the swaps use a manual V8 motor. Or any idea roughly how much to adapt a manual to the V8.? Cheers

Hi I have agreed to help my neighbour whom had cooked the m40 motor in her E30 318i. She had bought a second hand M40 long motor from a local wrecker which was out of a E36 and was told it would bolt in. After changing over inlet manifolds, mounts etc I foundthat the crank angle pick up sits further out from the block in the E36 than it does in the E30. If I use the E36 crank pully it will be fine with the angle sensor but wont linr up with any of the accrssory belts p/s, alt, water pump, a/c etc. Would it be easier to swap over all the pullys to E36 ones? your suggestions appreciated. Justin

Hi Time to replace the front shocks on my NZ new 1991 E34 535i. I have been quoted some silly prices for the Bilstein and Koni units (around the $1k) HAs anybody any experience with the KYB units or any other brand. I only paid $3K for the car so dont really want to spend $$$ on it. I would like a slightly firmer ride but keeping the std springs and ride height (every day driver) Any comments/thoughts Cheers

After shocks and matching springs either Koni or Bilstein, poss sasch Cheers
