  1. Fitted a new pusher fan to the X5. Turns out the engine fan cools the engine and runs off the main belt system, and the electric fan runs to keep the A/C system cool. Was having all sort of problems with random errors, and the fan was dead (should come on after 10 mins of the A/C system running and keep running for 20 seconds when you turn the car off after any sort of reasonable use with the A/C on). Took 2 hrs mostly because I took all the plastic guards and air ducts off and cleaned them with truck wash (they are now black and look new, rather than grey and look old). Part from ebay as VERY expensive locally. If you just wanted to replace it and not clean everything up (so like a dealer would do), 45 mins would cut it out if you didn't fluff about.
  2. The BIT II and TCU wiring are quite different, however re-pinned the plug to suit. A bit of web surfing and a lot of looking at WDS got it going to the point I am at now. SO, not plug and play big boy. No way it works with a Euro TCU at that point. I have been trying for months. I have added the SA633 option to the vehicle order with DIS and can now see it with INPA and it says Bluetooth is on. Prior to that I coundn't really see much with INPA. I can also see it with NavCoder and change the VIN number of the unit. On the 16:9 display it shows up as a telephone but just says "Please wait" I cannot see it with my iPhone to pair with it. Car is EURO and NZ new. NavCoder doesn't kick it into pairing mode, and I am struggling to figure out how to do this last step. It could be broken I guess... You really find the Euro TCU plug and play? Any thoughts, or suggestions gratefully appreciated.
  3. Anyone in AKL know how to do this and will to have a go in exchange for Beer/Gin/Burbon??? I have a E53 X5 and have a Euro TCU that MAY work, but first I need to delete the BitII from the vehicle code and add the TCU. Then hopefully I can see it and instigate pairing over Bluetooth. The Euro TCU is part of of a SA633 phone option that usually includes a BMW supplied bluetooth phone in the console. If keen please PM me and name your price Cheers
  4. Yup, it works, lasts around a year. Get some wheel cleaner while you are there, its magical - but bloody expensive.
  5. Cool, that one has OBC, but that's not the one you will have first, correct?
  6. You seen the BMW Computer interface in operation at all?
  7. If you share the folder with your movies etc on the iMac, then you can log onto the folder from your Mac Mini and watch away. Screen sharing is another thing, but what you the folks said above holds true.
  8. Waterpump failed in the X5 and took both v belts with it... half way up the harbor bridge... I suspect the slight water leak over the last few weeks had been hinting at something ;-)

    F.S BMW X5

Looks nice, and a good price. Already got one, but looks nice! Good luck with the sale.
  10. Can't say enough nice stuff about the support, price, instructions, help I got from Grant (Hotwire), just wish it was better weather and I would have taken the MV Agusta for a ride to collect. I will have to take a look at the video module wit NavCoder and see if mine is set to NTSC or PAL. If the camera is PAL and my car is set to NTSC it seems to be working well anyway! update: Mine is NTSC.
  11. Yup, looks very nice. The moment I'm sure I can adjust my clock in the X5, I'm in. You getting an early unit in? If so, when and where for the demo? I will bring beer an pizza.
  12. Count me interested too, I have put a bunch of cash into trying to get the factory stuff updated to what is in effect nothing special, and nothing works as well as it should. Also very keen on the aesthetics.
  13. I just got a 4 digit number for a caller id when they called me, if you got an actual number PM me and I will shut it down (yes I can do that)
  14. My first wife had a highly worked ex UK 1.9 GTI 205, went like hell, couldn't catch it in the Audi Quattro I had at the time... I don't see them as much as I used to, I suspect most of them are upside down in a ditch somewhere.
  15. Brilliant!!!!!! And yes, an old one would work perfectly.
  16. I couldn't get the pics to work either, upload them elsewhere and link to them here.
  17. Mark, Very nice, you buy a M3 and you are complaining about the telly! Next thing you will be explaining that the pedals hurt your feet! Just kidding big boy. Dave
  18. Hi, I have been testing a Intravee + KCA to ipod adapter combination in conjunction with a C23 Oceanarnia model and before Intravee sign off the final software would like to test it in a C23 Japan to see if it works. So if anyone in the Auckland area has an import E53 or E39 or other with one still fitted and would like to see in the Intravee works with it please let me know. With or without the Japan Nav fitted is fine.
  19. Fitted a reversing camera to the X5, thanks Hotwire for the bits and instructions.

    Kawasaki KDX200

Tempted, sorely tempted.... Used to fall off one of these when they were new! Good times
  21. Thanks gotcha, if its nice in the weekend, would it be possible to pick up a reversing camera? I wouldn't mind getting the MV Agusta out for some fresh air?
  22. When in 2001? Mine is 07/2001 and has the round radio pins on the c24?
  23. The audi is a little slow for the first second or so under acceleration but once moving, does go very well. These cars really do drive well, and sip fuel very delicately - handy right now with fuel prices as they are. I have taken two race bikes on a trailer and 4 adults to Taupo and passed every car on the road on the way in one - much to the surprise of a few of them. Things to watch out for are the air pump and the air suspension bags (you know when they are failing when one corner looks down a bit after its been sitting for a few hours), improved versions can be bought in from the US/europe at reasonable prices (ebay is your friend) - if you had to buy them locally, you would probably have an stroke at the cost (the replacement pump to get is for the Mercedes S class). Cam belt is due at 120k's (from memory), and dealer price is $4500, but parts and tools + instructions from europe are about a grand or less, then any local mechanic can do it in a few hrs and a few hundred $ in costs (or you can swap the labor for the tools and you both win). VagCom cable and software is a great investment, its very, very good for all VW/Audi's and well enough priced that its not worth copying/manufacturing/settling for an old cracked version from china. Check out Ross-Tech and look up what modifications can be done to the Allroad via software. Enjoy!
