  2. http://bmwenthusiast.co.nz/exploring-great-driving-roads-new-zealand/ Came via email. Thought I'd share.
  3. Goes till 13kgs. About 15 to 18 months. My son is not far off 3 years and is only 13.5kgs. He got sick facing backwards by about 12 months and wanted to look at the cars.
  4. http://www.trademe.co.nz/656897533 $450 for Bimmersport members.
  5. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=656599902 $1 reserve for 328i Clearing out garage and found this. Lucky person gets a bargain. Cheers.
  6. Yep. Filter n gaskets etc.
  7. Got mine serviced at Marshall Transmissions in Hamilton. About $300 and got them to do the diff as well. Took about 90 mins.
  8. It's finally raining in Hamilton. Wet grip on very slippery roads is excellent. Definitely better than the RE001 in the wet. I can't give any feedback about steering feel as I only replaced the rears but so far traction is not an issue. Running 36psi all round.
  9. They didn't have RE050A which was an alternative. Anyway I think the price is pretty good.
  10. Replaced my rears with Pirelli. They were previously RE 001 and had done about 25k Kms with bugger all tread left. 235/45/17 97Y for $219 each @ tyrepower Naylor St in Hamilton. too early for feedback but will let you guys know soon. I did enjoy the RE001. Replaced by the 002 but pricing has also gone north. If anyone is keen for a deal, call Simon there 07-8567185. He has a few Pirellis P7 and Neros. Also doing Dunlops SP 3000A for $149 in my size.
  11. 540i touring Motorsport is as rare as rocking horse faeces.
  12. No. Mine has air suspension. The coil spring suspension is rare on the touring.
  13. 530i Motorsport mate. I'm slightly biased. Just make sure all the door and tailgate seals are inspected. There is a tendency for rust around the rear hatch. Good luck. $16k is only a starting point. Good luck.
  14. What sort of seat is this? A capsule? I did plenty of research and didn't want to go down the bolted seats so went with a Maxi-Cosi Priori. 3 point seatbelt attachment and no bolts to drill into the car. Pretty cheap too from Amazon UK. I think I paid £120 delivered to NZ.
  15. That's a stunning looking car(e90). For that sort of money, 330d can be had. Not tourings nor Motorsport. But a better engine IMO. http://www.trademe.co.nz/512827964 http://www.trademe.co.nz/477625588 Good luck with the hunt. Get a warranty with the Golf esp the twincharger versions with super n turbo charger. Nice cars but expensive to fix.
  16. Thanks for that. Didn't realise that was the case. Caldina gt4?
  17. Does it have to be a euro? The Toyota Avensis wagon is better value for a fwd wagon. I'm biased against the FWD audis. Average drive n pricey.
  18. To be honest, if it's a car for the Missus, get a warranty and don't mod it. Parts are expensive. Transmissions will cost slightly less than a Greek Bailout. But I reckon most of the DSG failures tend to be 'enthusiasts' who launch their cars really hard. Others cars worth considering include Skoda Octavias in the VRS version. 3 series touring is not a bad option either.
  19. Great posts here. Let me add that before you commit to any car, make sure that you bring the car seat/baby capsule for a test fit. We thought about going from the mk4 golf to a 1 series but with a Recaro capsule, there's bugger all space for a front passenger unless you are a midget. Even in the E39, the front passenger is slightly squashed if you are on the tallish side. Also check the boot with the Mountain Buggy and the baby bags. You'd be surprised how much gear you will end up carting around. !!! Like Elmarco, we are going to go with a Golf or Golf Plus. Good luck with the process n the latest addition. Sleep lots now.
  20. Hey Grant. Will take you up on the offer. Car is fine after charging overnight on the trickle charger. Pretty awesome OEM batteries tho. Cheers.
  21. Hi guys, The E39 still has the original BMW battery. It's 11 years old and is having the occasional difficulty with cold mornings. I've sat it on the trickle charger overnight and it's come right but I do wonder if it's close to the end of its life. AA have quoted a price for a 3662 battery for $275. I can't find an equivalent in repco or super cheap. Any recommendations? Is the AA battery ok?
  22. Great car to have. Get one that has been looked after. Standard things to watch for are radiators, cup holders, tail gate rust (was missed during inspection). The m54 engine is reliable n torquey. Happy hunting.
  23. beggars can't be choosers!
