  1. Ideal BMW front speaker fitting. Used them in my E36 but now need funds for new house! As new in box with mounts etc. $150 for Bimmersport members
  2. Hamilton to Kawhia. via SH 31. Bugger all traffic and lots of sighted corners. Bring a spade and dig a hole. Awesome fun. If I'm going down to Taupo, I take Waipapa road and drive past Arapuni dam. That's a very quiet road with long straights and some really beautiful scenery. I reckon Raetihi to Wanganui on SH4 is still up there. SH29 from the bottom of the Kaimais to the top.

    Helmets

I have used an ERG open face helmet. It is motorsport approved and will fit a HANs device and intercom. Can't use it for open tops tho
  4. No the M-sport is an option. BMW has different packages (or options) to allow some level of customisation for the end-user. Bog-standard would be the SE and in the US they have a sport version and in Japan and NZ, there is an M-sport version. Different bumpers, steering wheels, suspension, wheels and interior trim. The M-sport is primarily cosmetic upgrades on the standard car. Decide on a budget. Then decide on the type of car (525i, 528i, 530i, sedan, touring, Msport etc). Try the dealers and get quotes in trade ins. No need to commit to a purchase. Get a PPI. In Hamilton, there's Carspot, Hillcrest autos and SD european and Coombes. Good luck.
  5. Mirror switch needs to be set to right (Drivers side) for mirror on left to dip.
  6. What about an Accord SIR-T. 200bhp manual? Or the Euro R- 220bhp and manual with LSD? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-342158711.htm http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-340828169.htm

    E39 530's

If the car has done lots of towing, it will fail at some point. I've had mine checked and it is still pristine (rubber bladders to hold the air) at 130K kms. If it fails, it is not cheap to replace but I believe some of the shops that do airbag suspensions may be able to help. Get it checked prior to purchase, especially if it comes with a towbar. I just did a day trip from Hamilton to Mt Maunganui and my average consumption is 10l/100kms. Traffic was sh*t at the mount tho. There are 2 530i M-sport tourings on TM. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-343084198.htm http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-336157735.htm Get the VIN and take it to BMW so you can get a printout of the options. Cheers.

    E39 530's

I came from an E36 328i auto and I find that the M54 is a different engine. Peppier and pulls more strongly from lower revs. I wonder if the M-sport has a shorter final drive and that may give it better acceleration but it is remarkably quick for a large car (1800kg). The touring has been excellent. It is usually loaded up to the max and prefers long distance cruising or back road blasting to city driving. I've had some cooling issues but since fixed.. have had no further problems. I've not been able to replicate the fuel consumption of 775km a tank. City driving (Hamilton tho) - gets me about 13.8l/100km and out of town driving I get about 8.3l/100km and if I'm really gentle.... I get under 8l/100 but its such a boring drive. I've yet to see a 530i manual touring. good luck..

    E39 530's

530i has quite a bit more grunt than the 528i. More torque at more usable revs. The rears will light up in the wet and sometimes in the dry. Drive one. Nothing wrong with the 4.4L V8 tho.
  10. http://www.narva.com.au/products/browse/stoptail-indicator BMW #no is :47384. I believe it has offset pins. Just look at Fig 4 to see stealth bulb. Edit:http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index.php?showtopic=15596&st=0 Looks like part no is 47385BL.
  11. I thought that there was only the cats, Y resonator and rear muffler (which is the picture you took). Most people say keep the Y resonator or it will drone and I see this is what you have done. What other mufflers did they remove? Sounds good. I may get it done myself..... how much did that set you back?
  12. Hey was this car at Coombes in Hamilton? Nice car!
  13. Thanks very much. I'm enjoying this and reliving my youth!
  14. Don't get the RE11 if you do lots of summer driving. The tire noise will drive you bonkers!

    Nasty Cough

If you are getting night sweats, get a chest X-ray. Suggest you send your sputum for a culture. Happy to get a PM for more advice. I work for the respiratory department at Waikato.
  17. Yeah. My old car Airbox sold to Nick021. Springs still H&R and Bilstein shocks (when I traded). Interior was starting to age with doorcards requiring replacement soon (Sept 09) but otherwise mechanically sound.

    Car seats

I bought it from Malaysia. The distributor there bought a few but as its not compulsory in Malaysia, he couldn't sell any!! Managed to get the soon-to-be grandparents to fork out $250 which I thought was a bloody good price and managed to pick my colour too Pricing in NZ is crap. Phil and Teds do a capsule but the guys at work reckon its not as safe as Maxi-cosi or Recaro.

    Car seats

Hi guys, Just out of interest, what car seats do you guys have for the little ones? I've picked up a Recaro Young Profi Plus overseas as the prices in NZ were astronomical. Managed to find the ISOFIX base on TM (Brand new!!) for about $100. Pity the wagon doesn't have ISOFIX but I suppose the seatbelts should do the trick Cheers.
  20. The changeover for the world tuner was late 2001. When was your car built?
  21. Drove a 118d motorsport in Germany. Awesome car. Handles very well. Really enjoyed the high-speed cruising and bucketloads of torque. Never driven the GTI to compare tho
