Very Nice ! Jochen, what is the approx cost to do something like this?
-
5% -10% increase ? $50 ? You'll be lucky even to get that gain even spending $500 on mods.

AMI is excellent! I've been with them since my 1st car and I'm now at 60% NCB. They sent me a thing called FreeBMax so I can make 2 claims within 12 months without loosing my 60% NCB.

As someone already mentioned, depends on how often you need to use those back seats. What have you got in mind?

No .. doesn't need the beep beep sound for WOF, those beep beep sound in reverse only compulsory in Japan. So all Jap imports will make that sound.

Very Nice indeed. Both the car and the photo ~

That's probably why, it only works if it's an auto / steptronic

That's strange because even the owner's manual says it should. Is your friend's V8 is 4.4 or 3.5 version? Is your friend's a manual? Anyway, it's good to know there're a few E39's in here

K&N although is good, but be careful when you're applying oil, make sure it is not overly done. Quotes from US BMW forums : And a related FYI - I like K&N style filters as much as the next gear-head but if you over-oil them the lube can move down the intake, cover the MAF sensing wires, and you get to buy a new MAF sensor (again). You may notice MAF sensors often placed after a tubing bend to reduce the chance of something like this but it doesn't always do the trick. Oil will migrate off of the filter and work its way downstream. It will contaminate all sorts of things. I had this happen on my '94 Dodge Pickup. The truck was off road a lot and I got the K&N to save on paper filters. Big mistake. On a BMW there is a chance the oil get will into the MAF sensor. If the dealer finds it full of oil, they are can charge you for the part, even if the oil isn't what made it fail. I have heard from multiple credible sources that the oil on K&N filters is responsible for contaminating many a MAF sensor. I've heard this from independent shops, message boards, and a Dinan tech. If you go for an aftermarket solution, you may want to consider paying the $50 to get a Dinan conical filter from a dealer and use it instead.

Congrats on your new E39 ! Did you know that the E39 V8 series have a soft engine start? Simply turn the key to position 3 and then release immediately. The starter will continue to start the car automatically.
