  1. I know what you mean, my 97 E39 has rain sensing wiper, auto dim rear vision mirror which some car manufacturer advertise as their new innovation/feature .
  2. Not only BMW's ... almost everything is much more expensive here. My friend in the US went to Germany, picked up a 2007 E92 335i coupe for aprrox NZ$ 55000
  3. wonder if it's illegal if i painted my letter on the plate to red?
  4. Anyone caught on illegal street racing, burnouts ...etc. Seize their cars and crush it.
  5. Yes, around 450kms per 70 litres, I'm in Hamilton, and nose to nose traffic is not as bad as in Auckland during peak hours. I only get nose to nose traffic in the morning as I finishes work late, so I don't get the 5pm - 5:30pm, traffic. I fill up every week, $40-$45 . If I have to use the car on the weekends like shopping , then it will be like $50 -$55 a week.
  6. E39 540 $40-$45 a week traveling approx 20 odd K's a day. OBC shows around 6.8 km per litre in city driving and 10.5 km per litre in highway.
  7. Chase ends in fireball A New Plymouth police chase ended in a fiery blaze so intense that the body had to be identified by finger prints. Michael James Ellicock, 21, of New Plymouth, was killed when his BMW 730I saloon flew off St Aubyn Street in the city early yesterday, ripped through a fence, shot over a stream and smashed into a large tree. It burst into flames and slowly sank back into the stream. Fire service staff spent close to six hours at the scene and only realised there was someone in the car when the massive blaze was put out. "Obviously he was going far too fast," said a Fire Service spokesman. A police dive team was also called in to search for evidence. Senior sergeant Allan Whaley said Ellicock had been seen sideswiping a parked car in the central city and police started a pursuit. Whaley couldn't say what speed Ellicock was going but said it was "excessive". At such high speeds and with heavy rain, Whaley said police decided to call the chase off. The pursuit lasted less than a minute. Ellicock continued down St Aubyn Street before flying off the road. Residents said they heard a huge crash as the accident happened. Carolyn Bower said the sound was so loud she thought the car had smashed into her garage even though it was quite far away. She said the fire was massive. "I heard a huge thud - it was really loud. I thought someone had lit a fire it was that big." And Danielle Leylander said the smoke from the fire filled the street. "The whole street was thick with smoke. I tried to see what it was but all I could see was a big fire." Ellicock had only moved to New Plymouth from Auckland recently to work as a yacht refurbisher. He had started work at Fitzroy Yachts and stayed at Scenic Lodge. He bought the car last February. Scenic Lodge manager David Ellis said he was saddened by Ellicock's death, especially as he tried to take him under his wing. "I tried to be like a big brother figure to him. But like the old saying you can lead a horse to water but you cannot make them drink. "It was quite gut-wrenching to go into his room try to to find an address for his family." Ellis said he had tried to stop Ellicock from taking the car to the work party but Ellicock didn't listen. "I'm really gutted to tell you the truth because I told him I wouldn't let him take the car to the work do." Friends of Ellicock said he loved his cars and thought of himself as a boy racer. They said he had been visited by police for previous minor offences. The police pursuit and crash will be investigated by police.

I always park my car where it's far from the building entrance if possible, BUT the funny thing is that I found no matter WHERE I parked, when I finish shopping and what not, there is ALWAYS a goddamn car beside me ! There are heaps of parking space BUT no, it has to park right next to me as if BMW has a giant magnet to attract cars ....

  18. I have to say the cup holder in E39 sucks big time, utterly useless. I once bought a milk shake and place in the front cup holder and the 1st right turn it went flying across to the passenger seat and landed on the floor *&%&^!%&@#$! Luckily the seats are leather. Back to topic. Wouldn't it be cheaper to get one from some wrecker?
  19. Definitely not coz I'm an E39 fan so .. I'll get this instead http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...on-88215313.htm and use the rest of the money to get stuff from HERE

    Flat Tyres

I haven't had a flat for a while (touch wood) , I always have a can of those puncture repairs in the trunk, they work really well, saves me from jacking up the car and changing tyres.
  21. Didn't come out? There is no way I can see ///M badge at all, or anything that looks like it. Even if there're no badges, a genuine BMW wheel would have a small rectangular shape recess to accommodate the ///M badge. I don't see any recess or badge at all.
  22. No, it doesn't have to be in the trunk. I bought a DICE kit from HERE The cable it came with is already long enough to go from your trunk to the glove box and beyond. It's an easy installation. The most time consuming is taking the back seat off to let the cable through and run the cable under the door sill . 30 - 45 mins top.
  23. Bought an DICE integration kit from http://www.europeanautosource.com/ works like a dream, it replaces the cd changer, almost plug n play, 30GB of music
