  1. oh yeah and shop around dealers. usually when they have cars marked at a certain price e.g. 12k or so you can haggle them down. those sticker prices mean nothing. only fools pay sticker price last time i bought a car from a dealer i haggled the price down by 3k from sticker price. + got a whole lot of extra stuff
  2. i know :'( so sad headers here are hard to find and oh so expensive.
  3. the amount of money and work you will need to spend to get it reliable and running is not worth it. a badly maintained bmw more often leads to cascading problems and will be an unnecessary ongoing expense, especially the cooling. you need to think about how long has it been running with a bad cooling system? has it been overheated?: can lead to cracking and brittleness of plastic parts in the engine. if its this badly maintained you need to ask yourself did the previous owner just trash it around? if so you may get a lot more headache later on as you find out. bmw parts aint cheap and some problems you need to bring into a workshop to sort out. cascading problems + normal wear and tear = compiling costs. if you have a lot of cash to burn and not minding losing a couple of grand more from resale then go for it. You should try and haggle the price down more. point out the problems. but if i were you I would wait for a better car. there are a lot of nice 328i for sale at around 10k even at dealers. 328 and 330 there is not much difference on public roads. Heed the warnings of experts and long time BMW owners here. they are not just saving you from financial hardship but also helping you in getting an enjoyable car you can actually drive more than being parked in the garage.
  4. 200 dollars for spark plugs?!?!?! what are they made of?? give me 200 and ill change it for ya!! fuel filter also 200 wtf did that in like 2 hours and cost me less that 80 bucks... brake hose = brake line?? bought stainless steels for my e38 for only 100 bucks a full set changed it in an afternoon. radiator you can probably get for around 400 + an afternoon worth of work
  5. installed one of these on my e38 same box as well pretty good with steel brake lines have not tested it hard enough though to comment on thermal cooling.
  6. Do LHD and RHD headers differ? clearing from steering? was thinking of buying one.

yeah same my new set of shocks passed through. its like a pick and miss really. if your item comes from a dodgy country or looks expensive it will likely get checked.

still do. they do still check it if item looks new and over $400 as most items bought overseas are marked as "gift"

if total amount of item exceeds $400 NZD which also includes shipping you will be stung for GST AND customs duty and other stuff..

dats damn cheap for the car. what would be needed and cost to get that on the road?
  13. ok tried to recline it this morning and all i hear is the motor working but no reclining on my e38. took off the back panel and it seem like the gears are grinding but no movement. looked at how to remove the motor but there isnt any screws to unbolt it. help would be much appreciated
  14. hmm would have thought as a reasonable person would that under "house and contents" one would presume everything in the house. as with their premise of car insurance "on / in" the car.
  15. ^ sweet will do gonna prob do it this weekend when the sun is out
  16. damn it looks like its on Steriods !! I LIKE!!
  17. ahhh being a bulletproof 16 year old!! taking on a corner at 120km on a standard e30. awesome!! check control rods and suspension bits. have had bent a control arm before, causing a pull to one side. buckled rims cant be fixed by just re balancing. you will either need to get it professionally fixed or scrap it.
  18. ok for some unknown reason the seat in my e36 is twisting to one side (one side is reclining more forward than the other) i know how to fix it in a electric operated seat but this is a manually operated one. anyone know how i would go about it? searched on google but all references are for electric seats.
  19. yeah this scanner is more in depth than the scanners going around in trademe. so when coding would it be advisable to have jump leads from a running car attached to the battery? im assuming fans, a/c and radio and lights off as well? anyone tried the ond2 -> obd1 plug yet?
  20. would be best if you can do it yourself. takes about 1/2 a day or so or a day. all you really need is a few sockets and wreches, 13, 16, 17 and 22 if i remember correctly. wd40, a set of spring compressors, a mallet, a friend to help out, a nice spacious garage or flat driveway, jack and jack stands oh and the willingness to learn from it. depends on your DIY capabilities though. some people can learn as they go some needs to be shown.
  21. due to bad lack of sorts.. a tree branch fell on the windshield while my bro was driving at 60k's. cracks all along the windshield.
  22. build my own race track!!! forgot to add that one.
