Hi, Looking for the complete exhaust for a 328i, up to the manifolds; is this still available? Chris

There is a law as laid out in the Wages Protection and Contractors' Liens Act which states that a contractor (garage) does have the right to hold (place a lien) over someone else's property until all outstanding amounts are fully settled before they must release the property. As always, there are fish hooks, snags, and razor barbed wire when going down this path....

Slightly tongue-in-cheek I know; in USA (where this billboard is) a bank "cheque' is really a bank "check"...........

Shouldn't it read "cheque mate"??

Hi, Am looking for clear side & corner indicators for my '96 E36 323i coupe; anyone have any to spare and happy to sell me? Thanks, Chris

Thank you, Nick, Was aware of the exhaust; I have a 328i coupe exhaust lined up; it is twin but does join after the cats (smooth "Y" junction into larger pipe) then twin end muffler with the vacuum flapper. I presume you would just not bother with the flapper, and make it so it is open all the time? Thanks for your response, Chris

Hi Guys, A quick (probably silly) question......... Mine is E36 323i 1/1996 coupe. M52B25 = 170 BHP, M50B25 (325i) = 192 BHP. What tweeks do I do to get same power from my M52? Yes, I could research for hours on the 'net, but if someone has all the instant answers, that would be great! Thanks, Chris.

Do you mean a set similar to this one on Trademe? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-259675590.htm Does anyone know the quality of these? Cheers, Chris

Hi, Thanks for the welcome. I did also consider the angle eyes, but heard not-so-good things about the one piece units - apparently one is supposed to get the type that have the corner lights separate, right? As I said to Mpulsive the 18 button conversion was very straight forward, had no issues at all. I did fit the right indicator stalk as well. If you would like to know more just shout; here is the link for the "tricky little book on how to do it" - http://delauer328.iespana.es/OBC/OBC_2.pdf

Hi, Thanks for the words of welcome. The 18 button OBC conversion was quite straight forward, I found a very good descriptive document on www.bimmerfest.com - here is a link: http://delauer328.iespana.es/OBC/OBC_2.pdf . I did my homework, got everything ready first, then got my son (apprentice auto electrician) to help me do the conversion. Took about 1 1/2 hours!

Hi All, After watching in the wings for the last quite a few months thought I would "make my presence known" as it were. This is my first BMW, acquired just over 3 years ago. While is a little older than what I originally intended buying, this one had a genuine certified odo of 17,070 km's when I first drive it; with such low k's it was worthy of attention. Nothing out of the ordinary has been done (so far), only extra work has been the Trademe specials (plates and Style 207 17" wheels with Pirelli runflats); and from E-Bay the 18 button OBC (wired in correctly so everything works) and a BMW CD43 head unit. After the odd niggle brought about by the car had sat for so long hardly ever being used were straightened out, it is a sheer delight to DRIVE! Had a JATCO flairing 1st - 2nd problem, which I solved by replacing the TCU with one out of a 4/97 320i (later updated EPROM) - now works perfectly - well as perfectly as an auto can be! Cheers, Chris

Hi, I have a 01/96 E36 323i coupe, JATCO transmission. With only 17,070 km's (verified) on the odo, it exhibited the soft shifting (flaring) particularly 2nd to 3rd. Only did it if the throttle was set so the engine revs at gear change was about 2500 - 3000, anything higher and problem was never here. I did a bit of research, and found out that there was a new TCM introduced in Oct96 which was used until the E36 was phased out in mid '97. I managed to get a TCM from a 04/97 E36 320i, I fitted that in place of mine, and, hey presto! problem solved!! I twigged this MIGHT be the problem as when I reset the TCM (key in 2nd position, foot on accelerator pedal for 30 seconds, wait for "clunk" as transmission reset, key off, start, away) it was fine for a while, then back to the old habits. Suspected a troublesome TCM, so when one came up I gave it a go, and it seems to have worked. Just an idea, that's all! Cheers, Chris

Depends on the auto you had before. If it was a JATCO, their top gear is 0.7:1 ratio (over drive), so check the diff you have now - it might be 3.64 - or 3.94:1 - not sure. However, this info is on the diff housing. Multiply this by 0.7 and that will give a new ratio (2.64 or so). As the manual gearboxes are 1:1 in top gear this new diff ratio will give the same engine revs in top at a given speed as before. You want to cruise at higher speeds with lower engine revs? Go one step lower in the diff. pretty sure this is how it works, but could be wrong........... Cheers.

Hi, I fitted an 18 button OBC to my 01/1996 323i coupe in place of the 11 button unit that was there. I downloaded a set of instructions from bimmerforums.com, planned it all out, did all the prep work first, then completed the whole job in half a day. I also fitted the correct indicator lever that had the push-in end for changing functions. Was handy having my son (auto electrician apprentice) to help me, but the job was a hell of a lot easier than what I thought it would be. Got the 18 button OBC and the indicator lever from e-bay in the States. I have seen a couple on Trademe in the last 6 months, starting price about $150 or $180 or so..........Cheers, Chris

Hi Guys, Am thinking about investing in a set of the shortie headers that Wayney makes, and it appears the remapping of the ECU is an integral part of getting full benefits of what they are capable of. Reading this and other threads Gavin at Hi Velocity seems to be the guru in Auckland, but I am in Christchurch. Here, NZEFI or DCH Motorsport are "suggested to try" for similar service. Anyone had any experience with these firms in Chch? Be nice to find someone who is as highly recommended in Chch as Gavin is in Auckland............. Cheers, Chris
