  6. Hey guys, I'm pretty new, i brought a 1988 535i manual 2 weeks ago. I have had it serviced my JC BMW (i have my reasons) and when i brought it i knew the shocks were worn (i factored this into my offer). Apparently after talking to this guy today both the front and rear need replacing, i declined as it wasn't urgent but will need to be done as will my clutch. I hadn't driven much of the car so I stuck. should i get new BMW shocks or go get some aftermarkets? I liked the ride height as it was aggresive enough and gereat for dailying it. handled well enough but new to all this all advice is great, and I'm sorry i might understand much thanks yo

  11. Jezz do you know his birthday too? Its funny how we notice things about people just because they drive a bemma Ollie: i didnt know you were at massey, I'm at the main campus with my last exam this semester tomorrow. Have you seen the 740/750iL in a wine/ faint gold colour there with the huge rims and grey tints? I also saw a special edition 1 series at the main campus, i didnt get a very good look at it as i was in my mates car. i think it was a AC in silver with some pretty whack wheels too

    Gotta Love this

got the same wheels as mine! nice! that would pull hard! I would love to hear it rumble, i can imagine it being rather surreal. You dont usually put a loud V8 with a BMW.
  14. great stuff! what a beauty!
  15. Actually two of them but they were both advance versions which sadly doesn't reflect the production models and gives a bad image for all their products. I hope they have learnt from this.
  16. yea gets upgraded every time a new model, plus 4.8is blew a gasket (not sure which one) and had problems with the electrics windows and stereo turning on and off, leaking especially through the sunroof. it was the first one in the country and apparently assembled in the US (will find out more). Beautiful handling and a motor that left alot cars in it wake especially my rugby team mates coming home from training down the silverdale highway. 4.4 was abit gutless i remembered, compared to the range rover 4.6HSE. Oh yea I was pleasantly surprised with the diesel i think it was a 3.0D, if consumption is an issue i would get one of those ahead of a 4.4 really. But these are sloser to car than SUV's True bro, Im glad i have moved home aye! first and second most recent went back to BMW, both as explained above had problems and BMW with thier great service replaced them.
  17. Yeah my old man on his 4th or 5th now, 4.4 -> 4.8 and they all eat gas
  18. Is this 535 for sale on trademe by any chance? a silver one?
  19. I have to agree, today my old man had a work meeting at home while i was TRYING to study. It was great there was 4 black BMWs outside. 3 5 series (mt e34, e39 and e60) and an X5. plus a Jack Daniels Racing stripped 2006 Clubsport. I love cars, especially when they're black! But what I was meaning is that the e39 has to be kitted to look great. The one your looking at Andrew is pretty sweet looking!
  20. Cheers, interested in a nosey around there.
  21. I haven;t towed with my new car but the TB is rated at 1500kg (535i SE) but i often use my old mans X5 (4.8iS) but I tow realtively low weights just a couple of motorbikes
