yip was totally the coil, electrode was prety much snaped off rang round and from BM workshop dizzy cap was like 40ish and rotor arm 20 and about 90 buks for the 2 from bmw newmarket alot cheaper han i thought!!!!!!!

so could you replace the control ball joint aswell - so keeping the arm and replacing the 2 ball joints and the bush thus refreshing the entire thing?? will ring round 2moro and get some prices

the guy said it was the steering ball joint, but was unable to tell if the control ball joint was stuffed!! and Iwas of the thinking, if ones going the rest cant be to far behind..... had to happen while my normal mechanic is touring the coasts of europe!!!! so is there any difference bewteen various models and/are they better, do the bushes connect to the sway bar??? would it good to upgrade tht to a bigger one aswell?? hope tht makes sense cheers

alrite have just failed a warrant on the left ball joint (86' e30 320) now my question is..... do i replace the balljoint... replace all the bush thingees on the control arm... or get new control arms??? the new control arms seems the easiest to me, if so how much roughly and is there varying types?? is lowered and possibility of new engine and gear box in not to distant future thanks

dont even really need the pin/grub screw, fish the white nylon thingee out, then pull the button down and inside youll see the pin of the button inside hole where the shaft goes slide the nylon white rod up and slide onto that rod and that should be it put it back on and away you go!!

yeah end of lead isnt to flash either!!! have a coil and lead from a facelift (mine being p/fl) was going to try that - and yip plugs are out and been cleaned aswell do you think the rotor arm of f/l will be the same even tho the dizzys are different?? also on top of the distributor when the cap is off, theres like a thin plastic cover, is that meant to be loose??

alrite following my previous post and reading jimmys thread E30 Staring Issue i inspected the dizzy, coil and rotor and they all look prety wasted - but being no expert i took some pictures to get confirmation so if indeed they are stuffed!! what can i expect to pay for good secondhand or new ones?? also is the corosion caused simply by age/wear and tear or is something more likely to be doing it damage?? cheers

the set i have in there are by no means old - and probly every second month would have to pull them out and give them a quik clean up to get her working again if the plugs are wet does that mean that not all the fuel is being ignited?? so does that mean that you need a hotter plug?

im having this exact same problem aswel! and has frustrated the hell out of me for months sometimes it goes and then not the next time!! is there a better explanation or solution to fixing it than cleaning/swaping the plugs everytime??

it also seems that removing the afm is beneficial how practical is this to do?? does the car not need the sensor to start?

sorry i meant the cars are in different locations - making it hard to compare them, sorry does read like that my bad yip 86 and 89 have one there, so can i just straight swap them? does the 86 only have an external pump? also can they be fixed/cleaned?? or cheap to replace? wouldnt mind having the parts car driveable thanks

Having fuel pump issues on my e30 86 320, i also have an 89 320 parts car. there curreently in different locations, so i was wondering if anybody knew if they had the same fuel pump setups??? thanks

I run a business making custom composite parts for the marine industry, specializing in carbon sail batten technology and carbon fibre tube. supply all americas cup, volvo and many other world racing boats aswell as any yacht from 40ft upto well ... as big as you want! just wished I owned one!! well that was before i heard the average annual maintenance bill plans of makng car parts in my spare time, but dont seem to have much of that

its a long way off track, but if it comes to it my bros in london, hes storing car parts for me, so im sure he wont mind
