Hi all, Just a couple of pics before and after I had my E36 MSport Leather seats refurbed - took 2 days to do at $230 per seat (ex GST) and had the armrest done too , the difference is amazing I think you'll agree

got it closed manually fine thanks, will look at what the problem is at some later date

Thanks, have found how to manually close it, I'll give it a go later today, bloody thing is not at home so have to go miles to try anything, as soon as its up then I'm all good, cheers

Hi all, hoping someone may be able to give me a guide here. My E36 Convertible has been having some interior work done and is currently at a leather repair place, they have had the roof down most of the day to fix the interior and now when trying to put the roof back up the following occurs: The roof cover raises as usual to its usual position then at this point the convertible roof usually starts to raise (while keeping the switch pressed) but there is no sound like the motor running, just nothing happens. When I press the roof button down the cover goes down to about 90% of its usual position, so it sits proud about 6 inches from the rear head rest then the windows start to raise as normal. If its any help to anyone the boot will not open at this point but if I apply a little pressure to the cover I can hear what sounds like central locking kicking in and the boot will then open. I have no idea what is up, I have checked fuse #7 which I have read may be a fuse for the roof but its fine. Anyone got any ideas or can recommend anyone in Auckland who is good around this problem Thanks in advance - Al

Came originally I think, had it in at BMWorkshop in East Tamaki and they pointed out the BMW Individual plate inside the engine so was specced at the time of build I believe

THANKS FOR INTEREST SHOWN - NOW SOLD Hi, the Mrs's 1988 E30 Coupe Auto failed the WOF yesterday - some corrosion on the drivers AFrame and rear of the car, its run flawlessly for the 3 years we have had it but its time to upgrade I think so dont want to spend the cash getting it through its WOF. It's an easy fix for someone if you can do it I guess also theres some decent parts on it if it were to be dismantled. The seatbelt rail was just cut and welded back up as described in the link.. the new hole drilled to accomondate it on the floor was reinforced with a steel plate .. PS I would have rather got an E30 leather interior but they just aren't about

Hi Sascha, I dont have templates.. TBH I did them on the fly , can post some pics of the brackets if u r interested.. it was a pretty simple job really - although a little time consuming and it was hard work hacksawing the 10mm steel , I know what you mean about making 2 (or 3) rather than the 4 but there is no swival at all , no apprently don't need a cert as the seats use the existing holes - I did look into it and was told this , if I had created new holes then it would have needed certifying I believe - I may be wrong but we'll see what the WOF brings up.. got a pro to do the cutting and welding so very confident.. he also fitted the supporting plates where the set belt rails now sit and said all was good so am very confident .. hope this helps

hi guys.. got a question if anyone can help me out. Got a half decent E30 coupe automatic that I'm putting a bit of effort into, there are a few bits need fixing with it but mechanically it is sound . the reverse lights dont come on when the car is put into reverse, the bulbs etc are fine , it appears it may be a wiring issue as I have noticed there are some non standard wires that serve the brakelights, indicators etc etc. I have taken the cover off the gear selector and can see there has been a bit of tinkering in there (cables joined etc) . I was just going to fit a switch and manually turn on the reverse lights when necessary (I have run a wire from the console and connecting that to power turns the reverse bulbs on no problem) but was wondering if anyone could tell me which wire (if any) that serves the reverse lights from within the Auto shifter housing (don't know what else to call it I'm afraid) - I can then connect my newly run wire to the reverse lights to this and everything will hopefully be as good as new .... Hi Nick , not too hard.. originally was only going to do the front seats but the rears fitted snuggly so gave them a go too .. got the seatbelt rails shortened and welded back up to make enough room, got some 90x10mm mild steel plate sawed it into 8 relevant sized bits (off TradeMe for $10) .. bolted them in place of the original (ripped) seats put the E36's on top on the plate, marked where the holes were , drilled, stuck bolts in so the threads went through the new seat base and away you go .. it took a couple of days as I had have no access to a power saw and had to cut the steel by hand. - got my inspiration from this link http://www.e30tech.com/forum/showthread.php?t=67786 As for the back seats, they are a 50/50 split so used strong plank of wood, and bolted the two halves together using BIG self tappers into the back of the seats and had a few bolts sticking out from the newly assemled back seat that matched the holes in the back of the boot - stuck 'em in and stuck the nuts on by climbing in the boot - solid as a rock .. the actual back seat is secured by small brackets and a lot of Nylon Rope going through various original holes etc .. it is solid .. oh and the edging bits (for want of a better expression) - the bits at either end of the seats are just foam and therefore fitted really snuggly when pushed in .. one thing.. I used High Tensile bolts all over and reinforces the floor where the new seat belt rail holes were with some steel plate also.. if anyone is interested and lives in Auckland I can show the finished product no worries .. PS the seats I used came from a 318ti (compact) cant vouch for back seats from any other model

Hi everyone, my first post as I got my E30 over the weekend, a long shot but i'll ask anyway.. anyone got front and rear E30 leather seats for a 2door (Door cards would be nice too) ? Grey or black ideally - be good if it was in Auckland but can (and will) travel for the right product .. reasonable price cash waiting Thanks
