    Mate of mine wants an e30, either 1.8 or 2.5 has about 6g to play with.

    Wants mint and original but is keen on most things

    He is not mechanically minded but is keen to learn so no big or hard fixes/issues

    Is the temp gauge not working either??

    SI Board Battery will probably be dead / leaking / corroding the circuit board.

    I do have a pic of how I bypasses the SI Board, but I think mine was a motometer cluster, so not sure if it will work on a VDO one.....

    Can you please elaborate on this? not to sure what an si board is..

    If so i had a short between two wires running down past the shifter boot

    Those two wires were blowing fuses as well, 2 30A fusses, cant remember what ones they were.

    I insulated the wires, replaced the fuses and all was good again.

    Not to sure if youre problem is the same thing but its worth a shot i guess

    Ive had a look around and cant find anything but will look again, cheers mate

    I think you have the same wheels as me. What size spacers / tyres are you running?

    I probs do!, 20mm spacers so giving it a zero offset and 195/50/16 and rubs like whore...

    Nice e30! IS Lip looks soo much better

    Every thing bar the speedo is not working... even the lights to tell you how many kms before next service.

    So an update,

    Done:

    Full front end swap and fix, including guards, bumper, fogs, lip and brackets/ mounts

    Wheels and tyres

    Spacers

    Springs

    Boot spoiler

    Fixed shifter mechanism

    Fitted side skirts

    waxed like 10 times

    Driven heeps..

    Still to do:

    Service (Big one)

    Replace leaky gaskets

    replace shifter boot

    wire up fan

    Put black carpet in

    put center console back in

    Down grade mate. Get a jetski or two and go exploring anywhere, they are awesome for this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzzglDDDXiU Do it with or with out the orange juice.

    I agree with Lake karapiro being good for speed boats, I spent many years rowing up and down and if you go far enough up stream you can get to Arapuni dam. Plenty of spots to pull over on the side and a good waterfall and glow worms at night if you know where to look.

    That is f**king cool man! I would love to do that some day!

    Wanting to buy a set of lowering springs to get my car lower than current, thinking i may need super lows as im guessing i have lows in at the moment. not looking at installing coilovers. what would be the best set up for cheap

    I have a set in mine that i could let go, im tucking the rear tyres and the fronts are just flush with the guards..

    Often see a Hellrot E30 320i estate sitting pretty on what appear to be 15"weaves on the run between Drury & Waiuku. Can't get a pic cos my van keeps getting blown off the road by gales :(

    Anyones on here? Likey likey!

    Seen him a couple of times now as well, really want to find out more about it..
