Hey all. Just got my E46 and I wanted to confirm something. Car runs mint. But when its cold the engine holds the gears until 3k and then changes. Is this normal? I have been told it is and that it is supposed to do this in order to quickly warm the engine. 2000 E46 318i.

Hey there, just reading your thread on converting e46 head unit to NZ freq. I just bought an E46 and wanted to switch it to NZ freq. However there is no area option in my settings after holding down m for 10 seconds. Any ideas? Thanks! Miles

Looking at an E46 to buy but I want to gauge how much it will cost me to get it to near perfect condition. In order to do this I would need to respray the bonnet and the roof. Any ideas of a rough cost to do these two panels? Located in Christchurch

Thanks for the response. I will look into that! Looking at the car mechanically it runs perfectly and there are no nasty leaks. The only downside is that the bonnet is rough and the roof is also rough ish. If I bought this car I would be wanting to respray it at some stage.

Hi all, I am going for a second look at a car later on today. It is a 1999 BMW E46 318i Wagon done 140,000kms. Its auto and tidy apart from marks on the bonnet. What are things I should look out for. I am familiar with BMW especially the E36 as I own a 323i. I have covered the bases including rocker covers, power steering, coolant leaks but how about other things which are a specific concern with the E46? Also this car will be selling for around 6 - 6.5k is this a good buy?

Cheers. I am really proud of it and the condition that its is in. Thing is when I bought it I drove a few others all with 100,000kms or less and this one drove better and was in better condition then all of them.
