Just like most recent M cars...they always look better in the flesh. Looking forward to seeing one in person

95 or 98 will be fine for it. As above, just skip 91. Enjoy the G20, have had mine for 2 years and still love it

Connected Drive has offered facility to turn features off/on for a long time also.
Its not really new news, it just seems to have filtered through to the click-bait media and reached the enthusiast community.
I still consider the over the air updates a gimmick...will do until it becomes reliable. My car has had 4 updates in my ownership and only 1 worked 'over the air'. Even that took about 3 weeks just to install, probably due to the conditions and driving time etc but still...
The other 3 had to be done at the dealer due to error codes

Took the G20 in for an inspection at BMW today and they ended up replacing the rear pads..car only has 20 000kms on it. I was quite suprised considering the rear pads seemed to last forever on previous cars, certainly much longer than the fronts. I'm assuming it's due to the auto hold feature which I leave on constantly, just didn't realise it'd reduce the life of them by that much

Yeah it's a pretty seamless transition in my G20. However lately it's rarely worked. Come to to think of it, didn't work pretty much all winter last year too. Assuming due to battery voltage from short trips in Akl traffic and the cold etc but I'm not complaining

I got mine from aliexpress when I did the wheel on my old 135i, same brand:

wow a unicorn. I looked for a manual n55 for quite a while before getting the DCT. Was a die hard manual fan at the time coming from owning lots of Jap performance cars but the DCT converted me. had it 3 years with zero issues too which was a bonus

What a weapon!

I thought it was a normal e30 thing to not be able to open doors when jacked up haha. Well mine and the few I've worked on in the past was the same

Agreed, it's even better in person. Just stands out

Awesome, completely agree about it being plenty in the real world. Have had my G20 320d for about 2 years now and still haven't felt I needed anymore performance. The torque is just fantastic. Lovely example you have there

100% this. Completely unreasonable for him to even expect anything considering all the steps you took to ensure full transparency when handing the car over. I've sold many cars over the years and yeah sure some have had issues post sale and the buyers got in touch but it was always just get advice since I knew the car best

In my previous 135i switching to non run-flats made quite a dramatic difference so might be a good place to start. I've got a G20 now too and the adaptive suspension is just fantastic, no complaints even on the run flats
-
No regrets getting my G20 320d especially now. Get about 900kms to a tank mixed driving so including RUC still works out to be quite a bit cheaper than running my old 135i, 400nm of torque is plenty too.
-
Beautiful example. That 'start up noise' would not be cheap to rectify I'd imagine

Whoa this is a blast from the past! Good to see it still kicking about

I just read your post again and yeah agree that's weird as heck. My G20 3 series doesn't do that, I do have the 'turn off when door opened' function active but it certainly doesn't switch off when the car is running. Might pay to check with bmw? I have always had a car seat installed and never ever had issues with it being confused for the last 1.5 years though

couple of annoying issues I can't figure out.
Firstly the autostop/start is horrible, the car shudders when stopping and even worse when starting, guess that's an issue with 3 cyl as it sounds very tractor like when idling anyway. Goes extremely well when actually running so its not a tuning issue or anything. There is a manual button to disable autostop but it reverts at each journey to back on. I have ordered an enet cable but does anyone know if this is codeable for permanent disable. We don't live in a high traffic area and I would say the auto stop would save basically less than 1ltr of petrol per year.
2nd we back out the drive, stop and put car into park to shut the gates and the minute you open the door the engine turns off. same on the way home again and you actually have to push the start button to continue. Surely this can be overiden? have never seen any automatic car do this before and its crazy annoying.
Should be an option in the doors/access menu that says 'turn off when drivers door is opened' that you need to uncheck.

Remember doing that same drive after installing a 4.1 LSD diff into my old 325i E30...roads like that really makes you appreciate the E30 chassis. Car looks fantastic!

My car was similar when I first bought it earlier last year, constant software bugs with i-drive 7 but BMW eventually got their sh*t together and rolled out lots of OTA updates since. Absolutely love it now. disappointing that You've had to go through that with no solution from Audi
