  1. Thanks Jeff for your generous offer. If Style 46 is this http://www.bmwstylewheels.com/bmw/46 then suggest it's off an E46 3 Series. The offset may be a bit too large for my E28 5 Series. To be more specific E34 5 Series and E32 7 Series will probably work well.
  2. E28s are 5 stud. Suspect yours is for E30 or E21.
  3. Bring out your orphans. Will consider all options. Don't want to spend a lot. Not metric ;-)
  4. Bump *don't worry. It will be one bump only. I'm not a serial bumper :-)
  5. For the sake of reporting back, I've started with option 2 above, buying BMW logo stickers and sticking them over the BBS caps. Seems to work brilliantly size wise. Will be interested to see how long they stay on.
  6. Just ones to take the diameter from E39 72.6mm to E28/34 etc 74.1mm and yes, no problem to include.
  7. Happy new year everybody. Have a set of 5 of the wheels, 6 centre caps and 4 Potenza RE002 225/50R16s that are about 2/3rd worn. The wheels are ET20 and were OE on E39s, but I have been running them comfortably for the last couple of years on my E28 with hub spacers. The paint on a couple the wheels is damaged where some idiot prior to me was running external wheel weights (who does this?) and one is curbed. Can't vouch for their straightness, but it was good enough for my application. Understand the caps fit a couple of different BBS wheels. Happy to look at selling a set, just tyres, just caps, just wheels or whatever. All reasonable offers considered. Having just re read the forum selling protocol, I'll add that indicatively I'd be happy with $200 for the tyres and $200 for the wheels.
  8. Happy new year everybody. Finally, after a year of patiently waiting for me wife to OK the budget, I have been able to buy rubber for the BBS RN I have had sitting in the garage and put them on our E28 :-) To finish the job off I need to fit centre caps. As is apparantly normal, all four stock BBS centre caps that came with the wheels have broken clips and are in various stages of edge delamination as one would expect from 90s vintage plastic. After doing a bit of research it appears I may have 4 options: 1) glue in the existing caps with something like urethane... after all the rest of the car is hardly perfect 2) buy BMW 70mm emblem stickers (PN 36136758569?), replace BBS logos, glue in 3) buy replacement new BBS 09.24.258 caps 4) buy new BMW caps that fit (not sure these exist, PN?) I'd love opinions from the crowd on which option and whether I can get these in NZ or should order in from somewhere offshore please. Cheers.
  9. Saw you last week. Still keen to offer on the RNs if things line up for me in the next couple of weeks.
  10. Definitely not std. Guess I'll just have to try playing 'spot the part number' tonight.
  11. What do you think was in it when you saw it Brent? If I remember rightly it was a BMW one of some sort.
  12. Went and saw Kayne the other day. Very knowledgable man. Taught me a lot in short time. His diagnosis is that the 260 in my E28 is about par for that particular variant and the short shifter means unless I ask him to subtly ease the detentes that hold the shifter in gear then the shift effort is what it is. Minor bugger because I have already ordered all the bushings for the shift linkage. Will probably fit them up anyway though I'm playing with the idea of refitting a standard shifter to save my not so big wife's arm. Understand the stock throw is a bit like rowing a boat. Opinions?
  13. Damn, those would look awesome on my E28
  14. Huh. A 528 with ABS. Cool. Would be awesome if you do parts. Will probably grab some other bits off you at the same time. Rang SD the other day. They had 4 E28s. Then they found that none of them had ABS.
  15. New or used considered. Need one after some suspension work on the weekend seems to have been the straw the that broke the original frayed wire camels back.
  16. OK, so id'd my Getrag 260 as a no sticker internal hex nut type and changed the gearbox oil for some Redline MTL, which is a 70W-80 GL4 a couple of days ago. Shifting is much improved, doesn't feel like the stick is under pressure any more, but could be better. Next for some shift linkages. Looking at this; http://www.mye28.com/viewtopic.php?t=68339 and this; http://www.pelicanparts.com/BMW/techarticl...ft_Bushings.htm in addition to Brent links for those interested
  17. Agree. My M535i manual in good nick wasnt much more than that. I often think that you get unrealistic numbers when owners try to price cars to include some of their ownership costs. It doesn't work like that.
  18. Just noticed your in Dunners. Still Bridgestone Direct is a chain, so I'm guessing the nearest one can get some in.
  19. Easy to get from the Bridgestone in Parnell. Have bought two sets in the last few month. About $40 IIRC.
  20. Plenty about using Redline MTL online. Hype or no? I also note this from http://www.m535i.org/e28info.html, who seem to know their @#$% in a slightly paranoid way: "- The Getrag 5-speed should enter all gears smoothly - they are not especially prone to synchro failure in normal operation (i.e. not auto-x'd) but most are 'notchy', kinda hard to push into gear, especially when rev's not synched, but easily improved by putting in Redline MTL tranny oil." Also plenty about 3 variants of the 260 with different stickers on them taking different fluids? Going to read the sticker on the side of mine and post back. Brent's did shift way like butter in comparison, so I tend to favour the bushes approach. Brent, if you're out there, which are the most important bushes to do? Pelican Parts seem to have a tonne listed.
  21. BM Workshop put in 2 unit of Syntrax 75W-90 Full Synthetic GL5 according to the invoice.
  22. Already had the new oil in it for a couple of months when you last played with it Brent. I'll look up and post what it was that went in. I haven't done the bushes yet. It could just be that simple.
