  1. The manual box in my E28 is very notchy. Got the oil changed af the last service, but it hasn't loosened up like I was hoping. Who's the best in Auckland to tweak it?
  2. Work in the Tower. Out a lot for a project atmo.0
  3. Thanks for the nod MD13. You work at C:Drive?
  4. This must happen regularly right? If a big deal, who'd be best to do the work in Auckland? If not, just the spring or will I likely need other parts too? Not a huge issue atmo, but every now and again it ends up in the closed position before I close it then... wham.
  5. Pitstop in Grey Lynn did some good work on my E28 recently when I supplied a muffler (thanks again Brent).
  6. LOL in P/N fail. Sounds good though Sascha. PM'd.
  7. My E28 gear knob is showing it's age and to be honest isn't that comfortable to use. Wondering if anyone has something more confortable lying around, maybe like a 25-11-1-221-611-M9?
  8. Thanks heaps for the feedback Neal. Were those Boston 4x6 coax or components?
  9. For example, does anyone have any experience with these: http://www.focal.com/en/car-audio-sound/sp...t/i-100-vrs.php or these http://www.ministryofbass.com.au/moshop/in...0-watt-rms.html or these http://www.hyper.co.nz/drive/product/speak...l/151033/detail?
  10. Have the premium audio option, a decent head unit and a 4x25W amp, which i could be talked into upgrading. Currently the 5 1/4 rear shelf components outrun the front 4"ers and theres too much pinging treble, or a lack of mid/bass, so i have disconnected the rear tweeters. I know the standard fronts are 4x6", but I'm not really keen on ovals. Also not really keen to cut up the doors or the footwells. Will reuse the door tweeter pods. Prefer good sound to raw SPL. Surely E28 and E30 owners have this thought all the time?
  11. Any idea where the best place is to get this done around Auckland? I suspect the injectors in my M30 could do with some attention, then I might think about getting it remapped by Gavin.
  12. Now that my wife has started driving our M535i, she has dryly observed while she doesn't mind the car, the radio doesn't work (reminds me of the start of the Blue Brothers...). Anyway, I had disconnected the power aerial cos it was partially seized and no amount of CRC would work it loose. So now I have to fix it. So, has anyone got an unseized one with good plastic teeth they want to part with? I'm guessing these are relatively universal for cars of the period, not E28 specific?
  13. I know some aficionados will probably think of this as sacrilege, but... Up for sale are a set of very original 390x165 mm metric wheels off my E28 M535i, in good condition. Very retro chic styling; like in the pic. Set of 5 with 4 centre caps. 5x120 bolt pattern. I think ET22 offset from memory. 72.6mm hub fitment. No tyres with them, but the previous owner told me he was buying his 220s from Patterson Tyres in Chch. I've decided I'm not going to hang on to them. Rather than just scrapping or cutting them up to make a coffee table, thought I would offer them up to the membership.
  14. My sister got a mk5 Golf TDi DSG recently for your kind of money. Very impressive to drive relative to the mk4 I had, largely due to the 6 speeder and IRS. I don't really like saying this but IMO it eats a 120d for practicality and compactness and offers very much the same internal sizing. Ever sat in the back seat of a 1? Not RWD I know and that means the turning circle is a bit lame, but are you going to drift it? And yes, the thought of the bills to fix a DSG are scary, but like everything they just need to be maintained properly.
  15. I'll take them Andre, so long as they are as described. PM me your details if you've still got them
  16. Nice work Brent. Agree on the suspension. Heard some huge numbers quoted on that before. Is the 4.4 drag and drop into E34s?
  17. Thanks for the tip. Booked the car in with Pete for Monday.
  18. I used to go to Marshall tyres in Newmarket a long time ago. The allignment guy there was semi-attached and along with Leon, really knew how to put it together. Recently bought a set of tyres at Hyper and while the tyres are great, not a 100% happy with the set-up at the moment. Of course, being an E28 it could just be that half the front suspension is buggered and needs replacing.
  19. Yep Ian, still looking. Have been offered some front calipers as above, though the seller is not 100% sure what model they are off and I'm struggling to figure it out from the photo he sent through.

    COFFEE!

Karajoz espresso, because my wife likes a stronger flavour, our machine likes quite a fine grind and I've been too cheap to date to lash out on a burr grinder.
  21. Would like to upgrade the brakes on my E28 when the current lot wear out. According to this; http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....showtopic=17158 I need calipers, carriers, guide bolts, rotors and pads. Happy to buy new rotors and pads if I have to, but hoping I can pick up the other bits as spares.
  22. Don't get me wrong, the brakes work on mine too, just not at the sort of level I expect of something with the sort of performance the car is otherwise capable of. They are the weakest link...
  23. E34 540i brake calipers, front and back please?
