  1. Much difference in the price of the discs and pads E34 540i vs E28 Brent?
  2. Had a set of RE001s on mk4 Golf. They did 48K, awesome for a grippy mid-priced sport tyre w a 220 tread wear ratio, but then the thing only had 103 hp. Just got a set of RE002s for the E28. Hoping for the same performance and wear, as the cars take the same size rubber and have a similar weight, but suspect these will get chewed up faster because of the RWD power and the driver being more enthused. God that Golf was boring.
  3. I take it back. Was looking at the photo on your post, not the linked Trademe listing. Carjam data in miles? Donor dash?
  4. Chrome bumpers. Looks like an '86 like my old one, not a facelift, to me.
  5. Bump on the edit above to fix description and include part number
  6. Had the E28 for a few weeks now and the averageness of the brakes is starting to bother me. Thinking about keeping it simple and just buying front and rear E34 540i discs and calipers, though I'm aware that the brake bias would be slightly further forward than stock. Is this really a big issue for road use? Also, this is probably a slightly dumb question but, with bigger brakes, would this mean that you don't need to apply as much pedal force to get the same amount of stopping power? Lastly, any negative effect on the ABS system?
  7. So, in the end after getting Phil Patterson to have a check, I drove to Welly on a starry night a few weekends ago. Sold the Golf to a friend the next day and bought the M535i with a bit of change to reinvest. After a nervous ride back on some badly worn tyres and over the last couple of weeks the car has had a birthday sized service, a set of 16x7s with 225 rubber to retire the metrics, an alarm, a set of seat badges and a glovebox aux in for the head unit. Once the horrible too small single pipe rear muffler is biffed later this week for an oem twin piper and after a bit of waxing and leather treating, I'll be pretty stoked with it. Thanks to all those who contributed their thoughts and suggestions.
  8. Looking for one that locks well in good condition. Part number is 1 093 908. For a bonus, has someone got a spare tightening tool.
  9. Looking for a pair of 46 mm chrome tips for an E28 M535i. Suspect these are common parts for many M30B34s of the period. Thinking OEM, but would consider alternatives. Understand Pelican Parts sell new ones, but wanted to check locally first.
  10. My E28 has had a replacement exhaust at some stage. I'm not convinced its a good match for the M30B34; not very smooth and feels a bit choked. Factory, I believe it's twin piped all the way, but on the car atmo the centre muffler was replaced with two Cobys, then there's a 2-1 joiner, then a single s bend around the diff and a single in, single out rear box. Thinking about replacing the rear box with a twin in, twin out of some description, preferably w chrome tips, and resurrecting twin piping back to the Cobys. Alternatively, I guess I could buy the whole cat back package cos it comes with all the plumbing, but the prices start to get out there. Anyone got some gear, or know someone who has? Prefer new or near. If not, who has imported OE gear they liked?
  11. Don't spose these are still for sale?
  12. Looking to get some new badges, as mine are now blank black and one is broken. Seen on EBay, but just wondering if anyone here has some or knows a local who does them?

    E28 wheels

Looking for 16 or 17s for an e28 m535is. Preferably good condition. Will consider with or without tyres, though I need good tyres to control the big six. Style 5s would be great, but will consider all options. Cheers.
  15. That's the guy. I've chatted to Phil a couple of times since and had an appraisal done now on the M535i. He's been really good to deal with.
  16. Someone else has suggested Phil Patterson. Familiar?
  17. While I'm thinking about it, I did like the E36 325i coupe we had a lot too, but would want something slightly different next time around. Anyone want to sell an NZ New E36 328i coupe out there, again pref Motorsported and sunroof?
  18. Fair points Mark. Got into an auto E28 M535i around here a few days ago. I thought it drove brilliantly, but some other things weren't quite right. Also, I'm guessing that the autos don't have a LSD and with the grunt/wheelbase/ suspension combination I'd prefer a stick shifter, esp in the wet. Anyone you recommend to check the car in the Welly area?
  19. So it turns out my wife can fit well into an E28 5 Series. Anyone know more about this? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=435926390 Contemplating how to justify a trip to Welly to check it out.
  20. Tawa, as in Wellington? Bugger, we are in Auckland. Just drove back from Morrinsville where we looked at this thismorning; http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=471020748 Looks awesome. Assume this is basically a facelift version of yours Murray. Someone will have a ball, but we just discovered that my 5 ft tall wife can't reach the pedals well enough in a manual E30, even with the leather Recaros, so it looks like it will either have to be an auto, or something more adjustable for us. Good luck with your sale.
  21. Sounds really good Murray. Keen to have a look. Send me a message with the details? Just drove the e28 535i tonight. Awesome car, but I do want to have a look at a few more before I buy something
  22. Hi people, Previously had an '86 E30 325i and a 93 E36 325i. About to sell off our Golf tdi because we no longer need to do huge ks for cheap and my wife has told me to get something more fun to drive, so I think another BM is in order. Currently looking for another NZ new E30 325i with a sunroof in good condition. Ideally a Motorsport, but I know these are as rare rocking horse manure, and if I can't get one, then at least a manual I can get a suspension package and an LSD for. This looks amazing, but is slightly beyond my budget; http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=438891813 On a slightly different tack, this looks awesome too; http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=435926390 Keen to hear thoughts and suggestions.
