I've got this loose in the engine bay of a 2003 e39 540i. Anyone know what it's for? I can't find anything to plug it in to.

How'd you get on with the vibration?

What does the shimmy feel like? Is it a vibration or more of a floating/disconnected feeling? I'm defintely keen on this (if you're still selling) and would drive it back to Chch as is if it doesn't feel like it's trying to kill me ?

How does it work when your in Chch and can't get there in person? I only have the one key but travel alot so could pick a time to part with the key for a week or so but any longer than that and I will be on the bus!

Yeah I guess you could say it's diamond shaped. Has the button with an orange light on the front. So the key still had to come from Germany? Guess I can't avoid that. Will give Paul and the others suggested a call and see how they stack up! Cheers Guys

I have an e39 540i. Only got one key with the car (legit reasons for not having others) and I believe it is the valet key so no remote locking etc. I rang BMW dealer in Chch and they want $500+ for a new one fresh from Germany. I have done some googling but haven't found anything yet. Is there anyone in NZ that can program and supply a key? Can the e39 teach a blank key or anything like that? Would really like a second key and remote locking but not at that price!

Yeah it was up the back of sumner for a while. It is a 540i 1998. Diesel guy, I used to have a manual vn. I was going to keep it but since getting this I hadnt driven it and got a stockcar on the go as well so better off selling it. I got a replacement center trim on trademe last night as mine has a crack in it, will get pics up once i have wrapped that. Also whats the go with lowering these things? Don't want to go to low but need to chop an inch off it. I'm so used to the availablity of commodore parts that it makes bimmers seem impossible! Cheers guys
