4x Style 65 17" reps and 4x Pirelli tyres - any interest before trading in?

Damn if they were 18's i'd be interested! -
Doesn't look like it will work. Older one has 10 valves and the newer one 12. Bugger

Spotted a dark blue E23 728 jumping on the gas on to the southern motorway. Didn't move very fast but sounded good!

Hey team, can anyone tell me if the module attached is any use to me with a 2002 build e39? It came from my 1998. 1998 engine bay: 2002 engine bay: ' If it's not compatible then it's for sale ?

Got some new cluster rings. Wasn't sure I'd like the chrome over the matte silver but it's growing on me. Gave it a wash today. It will definitely benefit from a cut&polish but I'm holding out for my mate who's starting up a detailing business. I've done all the graphic design for him so all 3 of our cars are getting done as payment. Really looking forward to seeing what he can do with it. And a snap from on the way to dinner tonight. I wish I knew how to use the pro setting of the phone camera ? As a side note I'm getting more nervous about timing chain guides. I need to stop reading about them! There's no alarming noises but it's just in the back of my mind. We're building next year so I'm planning to do it after we've shifted so I can take my time. Wife requires my attention to remain firmly on finishing renovations on our house before we sell so hopefully they hold together!

Thanks Fellas. I think I can live without it. As far as I'm concerned, if someone has forced my bonnet open then they're already committed to whatever they intend to do!

Still haven't figured this out. I assume it's an option I don't have but it seems very ungerman to leave a connector loose in the engine bay...

Keen to see how it goes. I need to get mine done. His website lists $395+GST.

Nice vehicle! 90's BMWS and 20's Audis are about the best of car styling in my opinion. I'm guessing there is some small parts that aren't available locally so they're coming from overseas by the cheapest courier available...

Pedal covers. Another aliexpress special. The extra grip is great over the stock ones though so worth doing. Today I went on a bit of a mindless drive around the port hills and stopped in at Halswell Quarry on the way back. I love how well this paint hides it's flaws. Still needs a clean!

Gotta love it when parts turn up on a Friday. FCP sure like their oversized boxes ?

Can anyone confirm that 54128169710 is the part number for the rubber seal? I see there is a rubber one and a "fuzzy" one. Mine is rubber. I'm thinking about wrapping my roof black and should probably do the seal at the same time as it's seen better days.

That was cool! I've been exposed to the costs of setting up very basic levels of automated QC and it amazes me that they can make money after the huge amount of resources put into setting these factories up.

So if I'm understanding correctly this needs additional 12v power? That does sound like a fun one to figure out... Edit: Yes it does need power, clearly didn't have my eyes open when I purchased haha

The cheapest I could find! https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33019020569.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.4ac04c4diEgKjE I'll post back when I get it to let you know how it goes. I won't get steering wheel controls etc but all I want is to be able to hit play on a spotify playlist and drive. If it was a daily I would probably invest in something more integrated...

Makes me wish I'd waited a little longer! Nice car/price GLWS

Thanks all that gives me some googling material. If it was going to cost real money I'd rather go aftermarket which would set me up with a more modern base to work from but I'm guessing that's asking for trouble. In the meantime I've ordered a bluetooth adapter so I can at least stop relying on my CD collection from my teenage years ? I forgot to look in the boot tonight but my aliexpress kidney's turned up so threw those in. I need to get this thing clean and out in the sun for some better photos!

I'll pull it out and check if there's any visible damage to cables. I have no idea how long it's been rattling around there so maybe something simple. Do you know if they are the same across all years? I used this stuff for the tray:

I recently got a front seal here: https://www.fcpeuro.com/BMW-parts/540i/Window-Seals/?year=2003&m=20&e=188&t=5&b=5&d=10&v= Takes a little muscle to install but the new rubber is very forgiving and looks so much better.

Done! Ended up doing the C pillar covers as well as they had a bit of fade. I also took the opportunity to reglue some of the material back on the pillar covers with F2 spray. All up this was probably a 4hr job but I'm very happy with the results. Used 2 cans of spray. 6000k LED's for the angel eyes also turned up so threw them in. I think my next project is to track down why the radio reception is so bad. It tunes fine but the sound quality is noticeably worse than when playing CD's. I checked the connections when I had the C pillars covers off and there was nothing obviously wrong. I'm not sure what's what in the boot so will look into that more. One unit is sitting loosely in there but I can't see how it would fix to the bracket unless that bracket has been bent.

Haven't driven her for a couple of weeks now but this afternoon I turned her around to tackle the parcel tray. Got two coats on tonight, it's going to take a lot more coats that I thought but if I recoat a few times tomorrow it should be good to go back in on Sunday. Also picked up some touch up paint. My main focus is going to be front bumper but that's a tedious job for another day!

Life is all about the little things. What did you use to get the "white ashy" stuff off the cubby? My centre console handle is looking a bit like that. I have 2 others here, one I painted black which turned out crap, the other two might be salvagable!

I was just going through some old pics tonight of my old E39. I still miss it. Was super clean and gave me no trouble. I purchased the car back from insurance for $1000 and parted it out. The front chassis rails were toast and the trans mount had sheared the bolts off. Engine was still running after crash and only damage that I could see was the waterpump pushed back into the timing cover. Once I had the engine out I also found a crack in the torque converter and I still can't figure out how that happened! From memory I recovered around $7k from it. That, plus the $10k insurance payout, came at a great time cos at start of 2015 I made it official with the Mrs and we brought our first house. I sold the engine and rear subframe assembly to a guy not long after the crash. Not long after we moved into our house I ran into him at the end of my driveway. Bear in mind this was probably 9 months later. As chance would have it he lived 3 doors down from us! I took a couple of pics of his project as it progressed, wish I'd taken more. He had an E34 so there's a small chance he's on here??? Unfortuntely he moved on at some point so I never got to see it finished, if it ever was. Would of been a scary ride though!
