  1. Sorry this thread is a bit similar to this one: http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....showtopic=42887 Thinking of replacing/upgrading/fixing my brake pads on my e39 520i (2001) which screech like a banshee every time I press the brakes with certain pressures. Wanted to wait for them to wear out first but the screech is unbearably loud now. It is likely to deafen pedestrians. Question is, is it possible to fix this noise issue without replacing the pads? Or should I just wait for them to wear out and then replace them with better ones. I was told I probably have some aftermarket ones installed from when the car was imported into NZ.
  2. All fixed and car running well thanks to Glenn. - Scanned DME: inlet camshaft position sensor fault - installed new sensor with new "O" ring Car no longer has trouble starting when warm, and I can definitely feel a tad bit more torque in the car now.
  3. Turned out to be the cps (inlet). At the workshop right now waiting for parts. Glenn was able to point out some other minor faults under the bonnet as well, so I'm glad I stopped by
  4. Thanks guys. @Glenn might stop by tomorrow morning.
  5. Got a question about my e39 520i (2001) automatic. In the morning / when the engine is fairly cool, the car starts normally. Turn key, engine cranks (whatever the starting sound is called) only once and starts and runs fine. After a drive for maybe 10-15 minutes (or longer) - basically when the engine has become warmer, if I happen to turn the car off, the next time I try to start it takes a larger number of 'cranks'. So when I turn the key, the ignition/engine makes the starting sound for a longer period of time before actually starting. Following this, whenever I drive the car after an engine start like this, I notice considerably less power in the car (being a 520i it already has low power, but it is still very noticeable). From standstill, it feels as though I'm trying to drive from 0-60 starting in third gear or something. Any idea what this might be? Would it be something to do with the cps? All help appreciated, thanks
  6. Uploaded photos of interior.
  7. Lowered price to: $2200 Have lowered the trademe price from $2750->$2500. Forum members can get it for $2200 now (Down from $2500). Really need to sell this in the coming weeks so let me know if you are interested / inform others if they might be interested. Cheers.
  8. SOLD THANKS Hey there, I'm selling the temporary e34 I've been driving the last couple months, while the transmission of my e39 520i was being replaced (yeah, it died and costing a hefty bill to repair ). It's a 1992 525i (e34) with the 2.5L straight six engine. Odometer reading is a little over 177000. Increasing slowly as I am still using it until my other bimmer comes back to me (hopefully next week). Silver exterior with cloth seats interior. Has after-market sony CD player with AUX cable for ipod/other mp3 players. Sports, economy and winter driving modes. Air con works completely fine. Trademe listing: BMW 525i 1992 Selling it really cheap as I need money before the end of Jan (the e39 repair set me back!). I've got the buy-now set to $2500 on trademe but am willing to sell for $2000 to bimmersport members. Faults? There's only very minor scratch or two that can be seen in one of the photos below. The car seems to run fine, I used it for commuting to work everyday. Still has the power of the 2.5l. The central locking sometimes does not lock the front passenger door, so needs to be manually locked. Have not found any other problems with the car. The car comes with all its past service history / parts replacement receipts organized in a file. Also comes with some extras e.g. bottle of brake fluid, transmission fluid and a mini-vacuum for the car (I keep it in the trunk). Come get this solid, retro-looking e34 series now! Txt or call me @ xxxxx. If I don't pick up, just leave me a txt PHOTOS:

    fs: Bmw 540ia SOLD

Where abouts in Auckland are ya? I'm interested to have a look at this. Got any pics of the interiors? Save my number: 0212339783 - Have sent you a text. Name is Adeeb. Cheers
  10. Sweet thanks - Yeah I've been recommended rapid radio by others as well. Was also thinking Pioneer (I've got Pioneer turntables + mixer and they haven't let me down so I can somewhat trust the brand I suppose ) Any idea how long an installation usually takes?

    This 745i

Yea I suppose you're right. You mean the body look in general? I don't mind the looks, although I hate the headlight blue tint thing.
  12. Hey Jordy. It's Adeeb from facebook btw (the 520i) I'm also thinking of installing something for ipod connection (only got factory bmw business audio + 6 cd rack, no nav) - but since you got a nav already we might have different solutions to the problem :S
  13. http://www.trademe.co.nz/browse/listing.as...;rewritten=true Has anyone in here checked this 7 series out? It's been listed for a while (since August), looks decent and price is kind of OK. Just wondering why it hasn't been sold yet / if there's a catch to it / someone's checked it out and found stuff wrong with it.
  14. Howdy, I'm looking to upgrade my e39 520i's sound system (because I'm an audiophile) - but have no idea about what kind of sound setup e39's have. There was another topic about e39 speaker upgrades, which I have read - but that was more focussed on DIY. I want to simply pick the correct, and decent, speakers + sub and have it installed by others. I'm not planning to spend TOO much on the speakers, but a decent amount to at least get some decent sound quality as my ones are dying/dulling out on sound. So I got a few questions: 1) Are there any specific speakers/brands any of you have previously upgraded to inside an e39? Anything you recommend, and preferable places that sell them? 2) Are there any specs I should adhere to so I don't end up getting speakers that don't even fit the car? 3) Know of any good place that would perform the speaker install for me? (sub too) Any info would be great. This thread might be in the wrong forum, but I am actually looking to buy the speakers + sub still so if any is for sale then let me know
  15. Welcome. Car looks great, that's quite a nice color !
  16. Thanks I'll try to drop by at theirs sometime next week. I'm primarily focused on getting the quarter panel dent fixed first, since it's the worst one. If the door still looks horrible after that i'll probably get that done too. But yea, will have to pour in a bit more money since it's 2 panels I presume.
  17. Ah How much do you reckon it will come down to for the person you want to recommend, including the panel repair + painting. The paint actually does not look very bad in real - the photo flash enhanced the scratch mark dramatically. From looking at it straight up it does not even look like the paint has come off. Couldn't a PDR be enough to fix the panel?
  18. Hey, Could anyone recommend a good panel beater at east Auckland? Botany/Howick/pakuranga/flat bush etc. area. Got a relatively ugly dent on my e39 that needs fixing (without messing up paintwork any further). Looks disgusting o_O, must get it fixed asap.

    Quick Questions

Anyone know a reliable + reasonably priced place that can repair small dents out east (Botany, howick, pakuranga, flat bush etc.)? I'm a perfectionist when it comes to aesthetics and would like a relatively small dent (near the back-right wheel area ~0.6cm deep, 5cm wide x 4cm high ish) fixed without messing up the paintwork. Cheers. p.s. even better if any of the thin scratched off paint areas could get a repaint done on them too. This is for an e39.
  20. Alright cool, thanks guys.

    High sheen

Looks awesome, especially on that color
  22. Arma

    High sheen

Must. See. Photos. ! How long did that take you?
  23. Yea, the color is decent imo. I don't find it an eyesore.
