I'm trying to buy one of these from a workmate who's going to live overseas. I've always loved these cars and wouldn't mind having one to keep my 740i company in the garage. Love yours in the blue. Looking forward to more updates as you do more work. Cool car.

Hi Andy. Welcome to the forum. Sound's like you have a nice car there.. Post some pic's when you can.

When I was a teen I owned over a period of about 5 years 6 Triumphs. All 2500i.. That is a real tidy example and if I had this I'd probably park the same as him(or her).. Have to admit to feeling a bit satisfied with myself.. Maybe I'm getting too much pleasure from the fact that she probably spent quite a while digging around the shrubbery looking for her keys and cell phone..

Gotta say I was a bit impressed I held it together that long.

I walked out of McDonalds the other day. I was in mid order and turned to look out the window to see someone pull up beside my E38. Heaps of parks around and this woman pulls in right beside me. So while I'm ordering I've got an eye on what she's up to. Bit-h gets out of her car and dumps her handbag, keys and cellphone on the roof of my car while she's getting her kids sorted. F--k me!!!!!!! So I storm out there and I'm yelling as I walk out the door.."Hey, my cars not a f*#king shelf for your crap, get it off my car". She looks at me like I'm crazy..lol Then has the nerve to tell me she'll "only be a minute so whats my problem"? FFS I manage to get control of my growing temper and explain that the car is "my pride and joy and I dont really want it scatched, sorry for yelling but pls remove your stuff". Her reply sent my temper over the top. "Its only a car, get over it". So I reach out and grabed her keys and cell phone and sent them flying about 30ft into the bush's on the other side of the fence. Last I heard from her was she was going to call the police.. Dunno if she did or not. I got in my car and drove through the drive thru to get my order and gave her a nice wave and smile as I drove out. She was still in the bush's with her kids looking for her keys and cell..

Cant say how or why but I work with villains every day. I can tell you for a fact that if they want your car they'll get into it and not having a EWS key wont stop them driving away with it if they're in the bussiness of stealing cars. It'll only stop the joy riders. It sucks and I feel for you bro. Theres nothing worse than looking at a empty parking space where your car should be.

I'd be checking the springs. Possibly one broken somewhere. If your EDC shocks are had it your suspension will go harder but wont make the car lop sided unless they've leaked all thier fluids out which you should be able to see down the side of the shocks.

Just spent about 30mins reading through your build thread. Whew, you put some work into that E34. It's got me thinking about doing a build myself. Surely swapping the motor and electrics from a 750il to a 740i wouldn't be that hard...ha ha.. On the other hand a V12 E34 could be tempting too.

I could, but I bet you wouldn't...lol

I must be getting a bit old. While I appreciate all the effort, skill and work involved in a project like this it's not really my thing. On the other hand my 17yr old son who was looking over my shoulder just about wet himself...lol

Sweet little Bimmer you have there.. Hope you start a thread and show the conversion as you go..

Hi and welcome to the forum. I should also welcome you to the Bimmer addiction..lol I'd throw away the EDC shocks and get some standard replacement shocks or if you really want to lower it there are some good deals out there on coilovers. I'm up for the replacment of my EDC shocks on my 740i and the cost is incredible. I'll be going either Monroes or Bilstiens. In any case. Happy driving.

No, a thermostat cap is a thermostat cap. And then include a thermostat in that price. a radiator cap is a totally different thing altogether. -
Welcome to the forum and the Bimmer addiction..

Why is it that the cost of BMW parts from parts suppliers in New Zealand(Repco, Supercheap,BNT) are generally 3 times the price of that which I can buy from ebay in the US. A good example was the plastic thermostat cap that cracked on my E38 740i. A new plastic cap from Repco was $239 and yet I was able to purchace a better quality aluminium cap and a thermostat and have it shipped to NZ for $47. I've just gone through a similar pricing with the rear wheel bearing.. Best price from NZ was $290. A OEM replacement bearing from the US on Ebay cost me $95 landed in NZ. These are quality OEM parts, not cheap Chinese knock offs. Every time I need to buy a part I give the local shops a go and get thier prices but always I can find a part on ebay so so much cheaper. So why the huge price difference? I've asked Repco why and thier response was that they really dont care. Anybody else finding this? Where do you get your parts from?

I've wanted to do a 2 tone interior on mine for ages. A mix of black with your color. I think it would go well with the navara violet color of my car.
