I had this same issue a few weeks ago.
I followed all the instructions and nothing worked for me. Then found this. Theres one extra step. Once you have the led flashing point the key towards the reciever/mirror and push one of the buttons again and you should be good to go.
Hope this helps
OMG YES!!!!! Thank you so much haahah!!! I wanna buy you a beer bro! I'm so happy hahaha

I've tried this and note the flashing in the video but no locking of the doors :-(

Hi Guys,
A few months back I needed to replace the battery in my car. With this, my keys lost the programming to my car.
I can lock the door with the key in the drivers door and car starts so that's a plus.
Just the unlock and lock functions don't work on the car.
There is battery in the key itself so that's ok, I checked fuse 53 as it's common to blow with the fuel filler actuator - not blown in boot or glove box
Here is a clip on the issue:

Hopefully it's as straight forward as this!

Hi Guys,
I'm buying both front guards for my E39.
Just wondering if this is a simple job I can do myself to replace the old dented ones or does this need to be taken to a panel beater?
Anything I should be cautious about when doing this?

Pics of the damage would be good. Quite keen
I'll post them tonight for you dude!

Watcha getting next Jordy?
Hey buddy! I unfortunately won't be driving for the next 3 months. I got suspended so no point the car sitting there. I most likely will get a bike again, I miss them too much!
Been eyeing up the Ducati 899 Panigale!
Hope you're well mate.

Whats the damage?
Just front guards and cracking on driver side front bumper - nothing major and hasn't prevented the car from passing a WOF ever...

Check it out guys - get in touch if you're interested - hard to find a model with all the extras this has!

Totally agree... Handing it in this weekend and will be selling my BMW :-(

Hi Guys,
So this morning I passed my Full Drivers test - yaayy... But my great news was saddened upon learning that my license was yet to be served suspension documents.
I've been on the phone to Land Transport and they are advising I surrender my documents because their servants have not been able to meet with me in person to serve me the documents.
These documents were issued on their end on December 2012, we are 9 months down the track and still nothing. I'm wondering if I have any grounds legally to stand on here or just play ball and hand over my license for 3 months?

Hi Guys,
Just wondering if anyone knows what traffic is like in the morning from AK City to Manukau?
Need to be there before 7.30am.

Guys I've just thrown up a video on this issue, can someone please help?

take it to new market bmw they will reprogram your keys the right way then point u in the right direcrtion. just walk up to tghe service desk and ask about key programming
My flatmate is a salesman for Team McMillan so it's an option - cheers

I had the same thing in the touring, and only just fixed it after doing the wiring relocation. Turns out that it was the Liquid Alarm sensor in the boot behind all the amps and cd changer etc. What I did was disconnect the battery, unplug the sensor and remove it. Placed it on the kitchen bench until the liquid settles at the same level, then plug it back in and reconnect the battery. Also have a look at fuse 48 above the battery, its the alarm fuse and that red/blk wire is integrated into the central locking system too
Cool will give this a try - thanks!

Do the doors lock and unlock from the big button on the center console
Yes they do

I had something similar that I haven't completely remedied yet. You could google something like "e39 resync door locks" and see if it's applicable.
Already have last week, tried videos supplied on YouTube and nothing...

Hi Guys,
Recent issue occurred with the car... The central locking on my car isn't working.
I checked the fuse in the boot, hasn't blown. Batteries on my key are fine as the red light appears when I press either unlock or lock. I've tried reprogramming the key and still nothing.
Has anyone come into this issue before? Any other potential solutions?

Bought an 01 non M 530i wagon with 144ks for a hair over 8k. Kinda feel the sedans (unless low km minters) are a bit overpriced given they're starting to get a bit older.
Then again I am a cheap bastard.
Advertise it at 10k, chances are the market will meet you at a fair point inbetween
GLWS!
Thanks for this!
What are your thoughts on selling it damaged? Should I get it fixed?

Ray is great!

If you can get the side fenders for cheap then its worth doing. make sure its the right colour. lots of diff silver options.
how bad is the damage? is it something that can be looked over or it definitely needs fixing cuz its an eye sore?
i would say about $8-9k easily but 10 or even more if potential buyers are in the market.
i personally would avoid $1. also is it nz new or jap import? service history receipts?
Re the damage it bothers me when I walk past the front of the car so it's definitely something to fix myself or the next owner to do.
Jap import, Servicing is done by Team McMillan BMW however - I don't have receipts because they do a cashy for me... Flatmate works for them which is handy.
That's good to know resale value! Holding it's value some what.

Sold mine mid last year. 01, Msport, ex-Japan, 96K, $10K.
Thanks for this.
Thoughts with damage?

Hi Guys,
The time tell sell my beloved is nearing closer and I'm wondering what I would be looking at in terms of selling her.
She's got 147k on the clock, 2002, large display, all the motorsport trimmings, sunroof - all the bits you'd want.
Along with the motorsport body kit and window tints however, the front of the car is sporting a couple of love bites on each site. Both passenger and driver front fenders would need to be either replaced or panel beated and the front bumper may need replacing.
With this in mind how much would I be looking at resale? Is it one of things I just put a $1 reserve on and watch it go?
What I'm also tossing up is, do I spend the extra cash to fix up the damage on it "in hope" of a higher resale value or sell as is? I've found a E39 wrecking that has all the body parts I need in good condition.
The car is mechanically sound, just had new radiator put in, new battery, tyres are good and no errors messages.

Hi guys,
After a trip to Tauranga on the long weekend, my back left tail right has been doing some funky stuff...
When I press on the brakes I get the reversing sound in the car ( gear will be in drive ). Error messages on the cluster "Check Brake Light" "Check Fog Light" etc etc...
I've gone into the boot and played with the wiring, just moving around and I can get the light to work - So at least there is nothing wrong with the unit.
Can anyone recommend a good local (Auckland CBD) auto sparky? I've called most places and they are booked up.
