  1. Love my bikes too, just that cars trump them for me! Still got any? Had to get rid of mine, but its tempting to get another with better weather around the corner...

Hah nice! Sadly out of the 4 I had they have all gone to new homes :-( had Zx6r, K6 gsxr, Honda cbr600 and a niel lighting - all fun toys but the car has my heart - I even miss her when she's parked in the garage... A definite bond haha

  2. Looks good! the 530i is my favourite too, but I have a 525i, because finding ANY manual E39 is hard enough, let alone a 3.0!

Be sure to do the Vanos seals too - gain some low end, and a bit of economy usually. I really noticed the difference, but it may show up more with manual trans.

Also, check your DISA valve - only takes a few minutes, but you don't want the little pin to suck into a cylinder.

Thank you for the welcome and info! I will be sure to get these checked out :-)

  3. Sweet ride brah. My first bimmer was a E39. Awesome car, timeless design & great engineering. I notice that the headlights are a bit hazed, could do a diy for you on how to restore them if you like. Easy to do & will have your headlights looking like new again

Hah thanks man! Yep she is my first car / BMW... Been a bike man all my life and had to get a car so why not get the one you secretly wanted as a kid!

Yeah the headlights were way worse than in those photos man - I bought a headlight cleaner kit from repco and it seemed to do the job considering how bad they used to look but if you have any other advice as to how to get them looking like new again, fire away!

  4. Welcome Jordy.

Nice choice of BMW, the E39 530i would be my pick of the bunch too.

I find they are not quite as serious or possibly problematic at the 540i models and offer a good balance of power & torque with the 3.0L capacity over the el-cheapo 2.0 or 2.5L versions.

Got any plans for the car?

    Thank you Michael,

Yeah it's been great on gas so far especially on long drives, town driving not sooo much but yeah it's good.

I am currently hunting for a nice AC Schnitzer kit to slap on it - was thinking of getting some BBS rims with a black powder coat.

It's already pretty low as in have to angle over bumps etc - I have slapped new white LED Angel Eye markers on the car which look the part.

Would love to get the tints a bit darker and that's probably about it :-)

hey guys, whilst flicking through the latest nz performance car i came upon this page. which simply highlights how entries have opened for the upcoming V 4&rotary nationals in late January 2013. the original plan was for me and my brother (BMW012) to enter his BMW e30 318is turbo. however reading this page sparked the idea that it could be a good idea to enter as a bimmersport group. basic requirements from what i'm aware of is a minimum of 5 cars for group entry. i feel that it would be great to see a group of insane, staunch and beautiful bimmers showing all the jappers whos boss B) . nothing has be done as of yet but i wanted to purely investigate the level of interest in this and then possibly setup the group. so....who's keen?? if your interested please don't feel ashamed to post a pick of what you would possibly enter with.... hopefully this could also inspire you to get your a** in to gear and get those projects finished off, those final mods done and to give you a goal! so get posting bimmersporters!! :P

    Cheers,

I would really be keen on this buy mine isn't quite as staunch as I'd like it to be just yet...

    Here she is: http://pho.to/CgPT

  6. Was there any errors when the prepurchase inspection was carried out ??... because 91 grade fuel is not going to cause these issues you are having

Unfortunately a prepurchase inspection was not carried out due to the car being a $1 reserve auction ( owners said it was to let the market decide it's value ) was always serviced in house by their towing company. The car was the bosses of the company so they did look after it.

It's due for a service soon so I'll get them to do that whilst sorting everything else

  7. Hey guys,

I'm sure you would have seen my previous post regarding the fuel issue... have finally burned through that yucky half tank of 91 and 95 - she now has a full tank of 95 ready to go through.

There is another issue that has come up since that retard put 91 in my car... my car sometimes doesn't know when to change gears when you feel as though it should. It's a 530i 2001 Motorsport and when I throw it in M sport it's very smooth but normal ( that's what I'll call it ) cruising at 100ks the exhaust starts rattling like mad and makes a sound as if you've crossed the centre line. In "normal" mode when you put your foot down, it doesn't change gear until full redline - never used to do that.

Along with all of this the engine light has been on - told me to check the oil and I've topped it up... engine light is still on - I am wondering if this is all because of the fuel issue?

  8. They do look pretty good whiter. The yellow looking bulbs look a bit dirty.

Be aware, that they will quite possibly strobe - when you turn on the ignition, each side will blink very fast, and then when you are driving along the flash every so often (when turned off).

I changed my LCM and turned off the cold checks to stop it, as people thought I was flashing my lights at them. I was worried someone would think I was telling them to go, when it might not be safe.

Just something that you may not be aware of, as they mostly say they are error free, but a lot of them still strobe.

Ah wow what a pain! Thanks for the heads up :-)

  9. seriously easy. plug & play.

Unplug your old angle eye plug, a simple twist. (it's the one in the middle).

check pins are in good nick (ie not bent like my ones).

    plug in new plug. enjoy.

    :)

Woooo! haha hopefully it literally is as easy as it sounds! Will post some pics of her when she's all brighty whitey!

    Damn that factory yellow...
