  1. Well kinda, more that the e34 gen M30 has numerous electrical and some physical changes that make it not just a drop in replacement. If I have to make a bunch of changes I'd just use a lighter engine. Since I want to turbo it anyhow apparently the best setup is M30B34 with the M30B35 head.
  2. Ah I see. I have (will have, bought one on TM, yet to pickup) a M30B25 based e28 525i. Googling suggests fitting a M30B35 is a lot more work than fitting a M30B34 for no real gain. My longer term plan is to turbo this e28 and I like the idea of having an engine out to make it "Turbo ready" then get it transplanted into the car.
  3. What model, miles? ECU or wiring.
  4. They didnt verbalise it this way, but the prices above were infact suggesting this type of uplift from the model below it. I guess its largely personal and sometimes irrational into why people value things they way they do. Im just suggesting one metric that I would use and perhaps others too. On the going rates, an Expired Listings search (you have to be logged in) on TM suggests very little interest in NZ for 135i's, certainly at the 15k+ end: https://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/SearchResults.aspx?from=advanced&advanced=true&searchstring=135i+bmw&current=0&cid=268&rptpath=1-268-&sort_order=default&searchregion=100 We dont need to conceptualise as much as being suggested here, you can see the pricing publicly for the recent past.
  5. I don't think it sold cheap, its where I thought it would end. I use the benchmark set by 130i MSports. How much more s a MSport 135i worth? 20% 30% 50% 80% I think between 30% and 50% IMO and this is where it ended up, but some of the guesses here were suggesting over 100% more. A 135i is not double the value of a 130i.
  6. Damn that's nice. Would have been in the market a month back too.
  7. Well with dynamix you are meant to condition the leather every year too, which is easy but it's not exactly 5 years fire and forget like a real leather dye process as you mention.
  8. Not sure if different, but I've used dynamix dyes on several Bmw several times and the paint/dye never cracked off. Yes it eventually, after 5years got scuffed enough to redo, but it's like an easy diy.
  9. Cool car, mental money as per usual on E30's. Bit useless on the description, noting in the text body and a lazy photo of some older listing as a photo of the advert, presumably from whoever he bought it from.
  10. The Q&A does say Singapore. The other market for KPH and diesel is Ireland.
  11. Not much to add other to say I've had a 530i LCI SE e60 and now have a 130i Msport and the 130i feels and especially sounds much more sporty and fun. I'm actually a 5er fan really, but grabbed this 130i (auto) as I heard they were loadsa fun but still somewhat practical daily and have not been disappointed. All 1 series need wheel spacers to complete the look tho.. still havent sorted mine!
  12. Is performance really that different though? I know there is something quirky with the brakes, but the engines are kinda just M30 variations with similar power? Does the E12 platform have any love over the E28 based models?
  13. Indeed, hard to gauge if this is another dreamer (like the $10k+ E28 parked in a field) or legit sale.
  14. I had an i8 Coupe in Ireland and god damn want one here. I also want either an E9 or E28 too, which is the other extreme.
  15. Nope, but they are really, really nice to drive. Like a giant electric skateboard or electrified go-cart. RWD, de-tuned 0-100kph as it was "too fast for segment", +180bhp with a ton of torque in a 1200kg package. I test drove one and would have no problem buying for City+Suburbs driving, but I know people that use them as their one and only cross country car (not this country mind you).
  16. Are you open to offers? Ice been thinking of a e28 for a while and could use it in my wedding too..
  17. Hi Coop, I used to have the Coupe version, the 560SEC, so I am a fan. Are you looking to sell or rent it out?
  18. We are considering pre-1990s stuff now, E30's, E23, E32. Even have a saved search on TM to buy something (if not too much $$) just for this! Anyone interested in just privately renting something in good nick? Its really just for basic wedding stuff, arrive, go to and appear in the photo shoot etc. Ive owned tons of E34's and an 850CSi so Im not a tool
  19. Thanks for the suggestions. Reached out to a few places but so far seems classic BMWs are still not an option.
  20. Anyone know of such a service in NZ? Wedding is in Blenheim in mid-March. I'm from Ireland so the classic Ford / Holdens on offer really dont mean anything me (though are nice to look at). I would love if we could get pre-80s BMWs however. An E9 is a future aspiration of mine but that might be getting too specific!
  21. Anyone selling spacers to suit an e87 (130i)? 120x5 72mm CB 10 to 12mm with longer bolts
  22. Yeah for sure. It would be no better in Ireland locally, but does have the benefit of the UK being right beside it. As far as I can see its the cheapest CSi available anywhere by a long shot: Car and Classic UK (UK and Europe) Mobile.de (Europe wide)
  23. The Oz guys are having problems with post 1989 cars when they dont own them previously. My understanding of their rules is that buying a car and importing is a nightmare. Owning a car and moving it with you is not (especially from NZ to Oz and vice versa). The main Oz buyer backed out as he is afraid of the smoking under hard acceleration I mentioned.. seems to have it in his mind he would need to spend "half again" to fix it, which is nonsense IMO. Anyhow, just put it up on Cars and Classic.co.uk as I'm not getting enough traction here. The local offers are way too low to even consider.
  24. Just to note here too that I'm also entertaining part exchange (cash my way) offers with something I could sell before I pack up and leave NZ. I got a couple of such offers along with a couple of guys interested in exporting to Oz (which isnt panning out too well for them atm).
  25. Nah, BMW arent that flamboyant. Repainting the engine intake is common on the E31 due to the cosmoline buildup which looks gross. I took it a step above silver and black and went with BMW M colours to match the S70 M engine and cover.
