  1. I think they are long out of production (assuming same as E28 if later E24 being discussed, not clear as the change is was in 82). To the OP, FWIW, I just ordered the B6's plus the Ireland Engineering springs. Granted B6's are not usually for usage with lowering springs, but internet forum folklore suggests IE springs are actually not any lower than stock (some people claimed they were higher than 20yr+ fatigued originals).
  2. I put in the correct sizes (well, 60cm across vs 66cm across as 60 seemed to be the max) and weight, cost was $38 which was still fine. Will see what happens when they go to collect.
  3. Oh nice, whan I used this last they hadnt got that function yet! So much neater!
  4. You do have to make a fake listing though, as the seller, and get it shipped back to yourself though right?
  5. So sold my 550i today, gave the new buyer the spare wheel and spare tyre it came with (Altenso 275-30-19) and he drove back to ChCh. Except I didnt, it was dark out and I accidentally gave him one of the two Falken 452's I had (and I'm selling), in 285-30-19 size. Now we both have odd tyres. I dont think he wants the Altenso (I certainly dont) but whats the cheapest way of getting the Christchurch tyre back to me?
  6. I did check if I could find replacement used ones in better quality and wasnt happy with what sellers were offering, so we decided to make a couple of days out of it and combined skills to refurb what we have. Basically: - No foam/sponge left in originals, no softness in the horsehair molded bases. Cloth itself in pretty good condition. - Forced stripes of cotton wadding inside "piping" on the back piece - Kept the horse hair mold but added middle strips of 35-160U High Density foam and side bolsters of 28-170U Medium density foam - Hand washed rear cloth, did not remove from seat as it was riveted to the frame (and no need). - Machine washed base - Wife sewed in "Interface" material into the base stips to create new "loops" to hold the side-centre-side metal bars in place (original channels disintegrated - Initially used OEM like Bull Ring pliers to reattached metal bars etc but found that large cable ties work a lot better. Used lots of them (13per base, 5 on each side and 3 in the middle). Very happy with result, firm but soft, smells great too thanks to the washing and cloth shampoo!
  7. Lol, and start a collection? ? Yep, mechanical warranty had expired before I bought it, think in the last year or so.
  8. Since apparently the market isnt interested in my excellent MSport 130i I have for sale, I've put my 550i up too. I dont need or want 3 BMW's right now, one has to go. Details are in the advert, but its well priced and spec'ed: https://www.trademe.co.nz/2036616115 VIN Look up: http://bimmer.work/vin/ab2beccd7c0d8e98b431667853f4d812/ $8550
  9. For the purposes of this thread, it could be confusing to anyone reading that later, the 1-Series definitely should and does have smaller rear seating than the two SUV's you compared it to. This should not be a surprise. ?
  10. Mine is a Jap import, perhaps thats a difference. Quick google suggests Active Steering is indeed an option, but electric assist isnt. I have no idea now which mine has, but the my 5 series has Active Steering optioned and the 130i doesnt and its much superior IMO.
  11. Not that I looked into it at all, but my 2007 130i has real chunky, heavy sports steering. My 2006 550i on the other hard has steering so light that moving your eyes nearly veers the car into the other lane. So I would say too that its not a blanked rule.
  12. All good, you would think it would have an ICV because.. like it should! However I figured the problem out! The is a vacuum line on the bottom of one of the Crank Ventilation hoses (the one towards the front of engine on the flexi intake tube after AFM) that I didnt see. It pulled out not up at the top, but around the back bottom of the intake manifold itself. Only found it by tracing each vacuum line individually and found it dangling!
  13. I dont have an ICV in the M30 version, its an (even more primative) "Air Slide Valve", which I understand is the correct adjustment spot. http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E28/Europe/525i-M30/R-A/apr1983/browse/engine/cooling_system_water_hoses#1272103_8 Im going to double check the fuel rail is tightened properly.. I suspect one of the bolts threaded out when reinstalling.
  14. Good price, but I think I need something with 6mm+ thread (and of course costing me more!) left. That looks about 3mm? PS: These are also the wrong size..
  15. Im also in Wellington and have a code reader just in-case you didnt get sorted.
  16. You should have a look yourself. Im sure the X3 is bigger in the rear seating area (it would have to be, totally different class of vehicle) but I doubt the F20 is much/any practical amount larger. I know the 130i has more usable space due to head and legroom than the 3 series coupe I had (a 335d). Hatchbacks are nicely economical with their layout. From: https://www.thecarpeople.co.uk/blog/bmw-1-series-size-dimensions-guide I mean no BS its not huge or the best you can buy if you want rear legroom, but its not a supermini class tiny city car either.
  17. Yeah, Auto38 in Wellington sourced one, sold as known good!
  18. They shouldn't be as they flow the same as OEM. The 525i, 528i and 535i all use the same injector anyhow, there is no lower rated 525i version. Presume the ECU handles this. http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/13641276149/
  19. Updates: Changed more things, big ones are the FPR, ignition coil and all the injectors. Coil made a minor difference but the injectors had a dramatic affect, both positive and negative. The injectors are the (known good) Ford Mustang type with the updated pintle. Resistance and flow should be the same as stock and they are a drop in replacement. Following observations directly after injector swap: - Idle went down to a struggling 600rpm. Perhaps some vacuum leak around the old injectors is now sealed? The old injector ends were caked in dirt. - Actual idle quality however is now pretty poor, very warbly (and not in a good way) with moderate shaking, not sure if misfiring or what. - Drive quality is the opposite (of idle), vastly improved, good pickup, smooth and quiet etc. I mean, best I've had with it, by far. - Wife was driving behind me and she pulled out and got in front (in a 550i, wasnt hard). She later told me the e28 stinks of burning and fuel. I tweaked the idle speed up again with the adjustment screw and left it at 900rpm. Drove around, felt great. When came to a stop again idle had crept up to 1300rpm now!? Adjusted it back to around 750rpm, minor shaking and un-eveness, a compromise. Any ideas? Maybe I should get the CO mix adjusted by someone with the CO meter?
  20. I too had pretty ridiculous wheels on mine! https://s55.photobucket.com/user/mattsimis/library/Audi S8/AEZ Wheels on S8?page=1
  21. Any other interest here? Relisted on TM now too.
  22. I love these, had one in Ireland and was amazing in the snow. Used to pull VW Passats out of ditches on the way to work with it.
  23. I want to upsize my rears on the E61 (from 275) to 285-30-19.. anyone got 2x to sell at a good price? Ideally with 80% thread left (ie over 6mm).
  24. I'm sure you have seen it in the Trade Me discussions, but I'm selling my non-Manual but Flappy Paddle MSport equipmented 130i faceflift model. I too would have prefered a manual but my other half cant drive one. This is the only car Ive actively wanted to use and enjoyed the Paddle Shifters though, they work great. Car is LeMan's blue and running great, more KM but way cheaper than your budget..
