So the car is sorted now, got a new clutch and flywheel, went with a single mass.. and wow the power I was loosing is insane, one of those things, you don't really realise until it's fixed. I also recently spend a couple hours in the garage and changed the PCV valve, wasn't as hard as the guys had made it out to be, haha now they owe me a box of beers! Have also recently upgraded suspension to a set of coilovers.. And now only one more thing to add to my list is fixing my rocker cover gasket leak... She also got a full cut, polish and wax 2 weekends ago The lastest project was also turning our future family wagon (E46 330i touring) into a manual version of it's former self, bigger task then we had anticipated, but thanks to Juned at Manukau Vehicle Servicing, we are all sorted and now the E46 is a car we love to drive.

Cool thanks. No plans for cams/headers/intake at this stage. I mean I would love to... but the budget doesn't stretch that far at the moment Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Hmm yes it's a road car, daily driver. before I got it 4.5 years ago the clutch had apparently been done but I have no proof of that, and to be fair they could have done it a long time before selling it. Will research more options and put my order on hold Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Hey guys, I have just ordered a clutch kit minus the flywheel, as there isn't much life left in my clutch anyway, it have just ordered a standard clutch kit - nothing special, however, I have no idea what the condition of the current flywheel is so I'm wanting to look at flywheel options. Car is: 328i E36 M52B28 I have been told that you can get the flywheel skimmed, but have also been told that because it's a dual mass flywheel you can't get it skimmed... So just wondering what my options are and what you recommend? I don't want to spend a ton of money, however, if the clutch is being done, I might as well get it done right the first time. Also how hard is this as a DIY? - probably a stupid question, but have done 3 manual conversions - so I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty and I'm always up for a challenge when it comes to cars/maintenance/repairs

Was going to recommend the Meguiar's PlastX, they also have a Headlight Protectant available on their website or at www.smitsgroup.co.nz

Thats exactly why i always write out 2 copies of a 'sales' agreement and get the new buyer to sign each copy..

Well if it had been replaced I would say 80,000 or less. But if not 199,000km
-
Thanks! (It's the E36 that needs it) It apparantly had a clutch done in it not long before I bought it, but the release point was always quite high. So I assume maybe the flywheel wasn't done at that time, if the clutch was actually even replace (no paperwork) Oh well, will be a fun job learning more about my car. Glenn what sort of alternative set up would you recommend?

Anyone know: a) how much a standard clutch kit is? and where I can get one from.. Mine has just started to slip, so thinking I had better do some research now and start getting the money together for it. I don't need anyone to install it, I have that part covered, and I'm not looking to upgrade to a high performance or anything. Thanks in advance.

I imported my E36 318 from here Tau years ago, dad just imported his E60 550i from there, it's mint! Plus he's imported a few others, mum's current car, and a bunch of her old cars

ahh yea. dad told me about some uni student who bough one from dad drove it home left it on garage all weekend took it to uni on the Monday, went to get paper work out of it at morning tea so he could organise insurance... it was gone. poor dude Ha just remembered a teacher of mine who was from the UK bought a Subi off dad, and decided to ship it to the UK, dad told him not to just drop it at the wharf, but to drive it into the container and watch it be locked up.. He didn't do that, car arrives in the UK with a blown engine, smashed windscreen and the bonnet fold back on the roof.. Shorty Galaxy S3

Subaru's will always be on that list, our house got burgled 4 years ago, they were after the 04 V9 STI in the garage, which had no exhaust on it... it was alarmed in the garage sitting next to the boat, with the house alarm set.. and Anton got home after work at 1am, to our front door wide open, TV, PS3, Surround sound, Sky decoder, Car & Boat all gone, plus they went through all our drawers to find the keys for the subi, which were in Anton's pocket.. We had a 01 STI which we sold to a friend, and that got stolen from Sandringham. The same friend then purchased a subaru legacy GTB (99) and that got stolen, then the lil buggars went to do a burglary and got busted in it... he ended up with the car back. Anton also had a 98 Forester stolen from Mt Eden area.... We have had a huge long list of BMW's not one of them have been touched

Hahaha yea that was the boys car... it's not bad for a Merc... I was aiming for m3's for the girls and an m5 for the boys. But pretty happy with what we ended up with. Got offered a Ferrari and 2 Lamborghini's a week before but had already organized this group.. Shorty Galaxy S3

Yep it worked out well, not a big fan of Merc's but the AMG is pretty special, and the girls were happy they didn't have to climb out of a coupe.. Dad was probably the only unhappy one, he imported the E60 550i then polished it up and it spent 5 long weeks in the garage waiting for our wedding... and then it rained on his car.. lol
