  1. The wheels probably won't fit onto the 300e. From memory the widest you can go at the front is an 8" wide wheel. We had an 8" wide wheel on at 35 and it really wasn't suitable as it just stuck out past the guards at the front. Those series Mercs have a really high offset compared to most later model c and e class. Of course someone is going to chime in next and say roll, bash, flare the gaurds etc :P

Anyway, tyre wise, probably a 225/35 and 255/30 is the correct combination.

  2. If the wheels arent bent through the centre,( to badly )i should be able to fix them,i dont weld pieces in because you dont know if youve got a full penatration weld or not,so is filled with weld, after been straightened roughly, then final straighten and machined. :) How ever if they are bent through the centre ie,spokes bent sorry only good for a hose reel.Would estimate 280-300 for the bad ones.Brugar Engineering (Rod)

    Hi Rod

Welcome to the forum. It is great to have a reputable wheel repairer on here that can offer their knowledge. Slightly off topic, but I heard through the grape vine that you can "add" to the back of a wheel to lower (just for Sam) the offset. Sorry for the highly technical term :) . Can you shed any more light on this?

    cheers

  3. what about these?? (waits for the haters :P )

Just put them on my own E36.

It all reallyy depends on the look you are trying to achieve. A dished wheel always looks smaller than a wheel with the spokes that go right to the end. I had 19's on my old E36 and they were just too big!! Looked awesome but really impractical. This time round I just went to 18's. We have heaps of wheels in stock, 18's start around $1600 for wheel and tyre packages.

  4. I can sort of understand why - it ensures that no one can copy the design, and I guess it gives him some sort of competitive advantage.

I have no problems with people expressing their opinions at all, in fact i think it should be encouraged. What I do have a problem with is the amount of hearsay that finds it's way onto and is written in this forum that is baseless and/or factually incorrect.

It's a bit like me calling you a foul name because someone said you were, even though I have never met you :D

  5. I just talked to the importer and he does not disclose his spring rates to anybody.

Anyway I wasn't getting in to spring rate debates, the point of my original post was really concerning the inordinate amount of posts that have been surfacing on bimmersport recently that are factually baseless and almost bordering on libel.

  6. which is it? The m-sport rate or the M3 rate? :)

Progressive rate springs will feel different to normal springs.

I really can't be bothered going into the full technical details about spring rates etc as it will be a very long winded post

  7. Hey just wondering if anyone knows if this kinda damage is fixable?

    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.as...amp;permanent=0

And if these could be re-drilled to 5x120..

    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=215586304

Just after some cheap 19s to flog my e46 of with

    Definitely NOT fixable.

Redrilling is generally about $10-$20 a hole. It probably can't be done as the wheels are multifit and also have a centrecap. I would say the bolts to hold the centrecap on may prevent them from being redrileld to a larger pcd.

  8. zenetti, do you stock the exact same Beyern wheels?

The Bayern wheels are now a discontinued item and no longer available unfortunately. I have similar wheels in stock, both BBS style, staggered fit and M5 wheels as options. Also have plenty of other aftermarket styles in stock. Check out our website if you like, it has plenty of demo photos on it.

    cheers

  9. I have not done my homework properly and purchased a head unit to change the japan radio to a NZ one. I was assured that the brought one was a NZ one. Also it was a model after 2000. my car is a 2000 so I though that I would have a take out old and fit new to remedy the problem with the frequencies. but no that is not the case plugs are differant. Can anyone help with what I can do now. Here are the photos of the plugs on my car and the radio taken out and the one to fit. The radio in the last photos was the intended new one.

I thought most 2000+ models have the world mode tuner in them??????
