17" E30 Alpina Reps on their way... ETA 1 month!!

Hey all... being a newbi BM owner, I'm starting to relaise that not all BM's are created equal when it comes to wheel fitment. So, what basic things do I need to know or understand before looking at new wheels for my E46 compact?
For example, I'm looking for some M5 style wheel like this: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=218407542 in either 17" or 18". These ones the guy aparently bought for his 3 series (not sure which version) and they don't fit??
Any help would be appreciated
Cheers
Ewie
You need a 3 series offset, roughly 35-45. I have plenty of new replica styles in stock.

sigh............ another one of these debates
I for one, (and I am sure others on here) am starting to get sick of this chrome hating on here.
Personally I don't think you can beat a nice clean chrome wheel on a black car, they look hot! I think the major problem that people have on this website is probably not the chrome wheel, but more the style of the wheel. I wonder if you would all be so quick to judge if there were cars with chrome BBS wheels or M-pars? ( which I have seen)
Wheels are just like fashion, do you get all cringe worthy, have a moan, and make a post about it when you see guys in skinny jeans?? or a fat chick in a mini skirt with a muffin top?
People put wheels on their car because they want to individualise it, who are we to judge what they like. Just beacuse I don't like McDonalds, do you think I should go round making shouting out that McDonalds is shity and no-one should go and buy it. No!!, I respect the fact that other people like it, so I just keep my mouth shut and move on. No point in getting into a meaningless debate.
Chrome wheels were the fashionable thing to have, now it is black centres and in the next few months you will see 'time attack' come to the fore. New Zealander's are just a bunch of sheep really when it comes to wheel trends, we follow the rest of the world, but are about 2 years behind.
Here in NZ we have such a wide range of cars available to us via the used Japanese wheels. BMW and other 'prestigious' European brands simply do not have the 'prestige' value here, simply because they are so cheap and easy to buy. This is partly the reason why you see so many around.
Edit: Mike, maybe there is nothing wrong with other people, maybe it is you being old and out of touch
(a bit like me lol). The reality is that the we have a culture that is very influenced by music and music videos. Hip Hop and Rap seem to be the most popular style of music today, and these videos feature cars with big chrome wheels. The 50's was when Rock & Roll started and that style of music influenced the boy racers back then too.
(Hmmmmm ...... may be I should go back to Uni and get my masters with this thesis:To what extent is car culture influenced by music?)
Don't get angry about it - just respect that fact that everyone is individual and has differeing tates. What a boring world we would live in if everyone and everything was the same. (I am sure there is a TV advert like this)
Edit (part 2): We also need to recognise the fact that NZ is made up of a huge variety of cultures. In some of these cultures, big shiny things (like chrome wheels) are a status symbol and viewed as as a sign of prosperity.

I am probably going to get roasted here but.......................
if it was me I would be looking at a 190e Cosworth over an E30 325i!

Each to their own mate, its your car !
One question though, why do people buy huge wheels and tyres but sell the car the week later ? Surely you dont expect to recoup the money you spent.
PM me with a price without the wheels
If you are smart enough and have a good look around, and buy wheels at the right price you can actually make extra money. I am lucky cos I am in the industry and get wheels and tyres really cheap. I find it also helps to sell the car faster. I just sold my E36 318is on Trade Me within 2 hours. When I asked the guy why he liked mine he said it was because of the way the car looked with the wheels on it.

Looking good Ash!
What springs did you end up going with? Custom?
-
I have new 18" wheels and tyres as of today, I think it suits the look alot better.
We put some new tyres on Erron's new wheels today. The car looks awesome!! The carbon bonnet and boot look cool too! Thanks for coming to see us!

Anyone had any experiences with this setup?
Glenn pointed out that my shocks are leaking, have found a good condition set of D2 adjustable coilover suspension for a good price, I know I have to get it certed etc. etc.
Be very very careful when lowering your coupe. If you lower the E46 too much you can end up ripping the whole rear subframe from the car. I have seen it happen on 2 different cars. The importer has stopped importing D2 as there were too many problems with them. One of the major ones was that the locking rings kept loosening so they kept winding themselves down to their lowest point. This caused the shocks to bottom out and start leaking.
Personally I would follow the link that Jordy suggested above and have a look at that. A good set of shocks and lowered springs will be far far better than the D2's and probably around the same price when you take into consideration the certing required of the adjustables.
just my 2c

so does anybody know the website that you plug the vin # into to see the build specs?
I just bought a motorsport coupe and would like to know exactly what motorsport options it has.
cheers

When they arrive, could you by any chance post up the back of the wheel? I'm curious as to whether they'd clear my brakes without spacers. (probably not, but worth a shot
)
no worries, I will measure it all up and get the x-factor for you. It wil take roughly 3-4 weeks before the wheels land so plenty of time to save

I know this is dragging up an old thread but........................
WE HAVE MORE SETS COMING!!!!!!!!
Not sure on exact numbers and price as yet but should be around the same as last time.
I will know more early next week.
BTW - ONE set already sold to _Alan_! (cos I stuffed up and didn't keep a set for him last time
)
EDIT: Oh and I think we may have some for E36, E46, and maybe a set or two for E34,E39.
