I lowered my old E30 60/40, springs are all captive and had no problems at all. As mentioned go H&R or jamex, both are European made, so are cold wound which is much more preferable to kings/Dobi etc which are hot wound

No probs Alan, glad you got it sorted..... sometimes those mechanics can be quite greedy buggers,, present sponsors excluded of course!
-
hahaha RFLMAO that is a brilliant attachment - go Adobe! oh........ and well done on the April Fool's sure sucked a lot of guys in and got them venting!!
-
using ANY bolt-on adaptor will require the car to be certified

Before you guys go spending hundreds of dollars check the air intake pipe between the intake and the air box. It may have a small split in it which can cause the car to surge exactly as you guys are saying. It has happened to me twice on E30's, and has also happened on an FX-GT. You may have to pull the hose off and check for splits, mine have always split on the corrugations where the bends are, which can be quite hard to find.

take a look at the forum sponsor Glenn is awesome, and based out East too!!

give Andy a call at Warlocks 0800 WARLOCKS or 021 WARLOCKS, tell him Johno from Mag and Tyre Direct recommended you, and he will look after you. His work is awesome and he takes pride in each and every install he does.

should have added that I have complained about the listing -
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=146334401 I had it on my watchlist and noticed that it was withdrawn.............hardly seems fair to the previous bidders!

yes no problems, what are you looking for?

front shocks are easy to do, I was a "tech" newbie too when I did mine. You will definitely need spring compressors, A rattle gun makes life easier, and you wil have to split a ball joint apart. It is quite an easy job. Can't help with the steering rack though sorry, but as other people have said check all the ball joints tie rod ends etc as well as they can cause play if worn.

if engineers make them they usually put a locating collar on the outside which stops vibration. Most of the ones on TM don't have this collar which is where all the vibration comes from.
-
If you run spavers or adaptors on your car, you will more than likely get a really bad vibration ( think shake your teeth out). If you run a low enough offset you will get the correct stance that you are after

haha - people that live in glasshouses shouldn't throw stones Greg - price drop for you $209 incl GST and freight to your door

check this link out: http://www.tyresite.com/fitment.asp?psearch=BMW kind of backs up what Greg and I have been talking about, and it's a "european site" a 225/40/18 is the correct upsize for 225/45/17 225*45% = 101.25mm x2 + 17" (431.8mm) gives 634.3mm diameter 225*40% = 90mm x2 + 18" (457.2mm) gives 637.2mm diameter It all comes down to the design of the tyre as well, some tyres have quite large shoulders. The sectional width will be measured as 225 for example but could be anywhere between 220mm and 230mm. I don't how how you "set up a tyre", personally I would have thought it would be more to do with suspension.

Nothing will happen, too much of a money spinner for them 1900 cars at $30 each time = $57000. I know the guy that owns Harpers for Cars (ducks for cover). Roger is a genuinely nice guy and I wouldn't hesitate to buy a car from him. He only got done because he was too lazy to put a SIN up - however ONE EXPENSIVE lesson later his cars now always have them. The Commerce Commission sent down a 'mystery shopper' to catch him out as they were having a big blitz on TM. These guys were probably caught at the same time.

'bout time I waded into this and gave you a 'professional' opinion. It won't matter what size rim and tyre you run 17,18 or 19 you will still have camber issues. The issue arises because realistically your car is too low. WOF states it must be 100mm above the ground from the lowest structural point. This has all been covered before in various topics on here. Having too much camber is dangerous, in essence, without going into too much detail, you are only using about half of your tyre on the road, this explains why you were having trouble with grip. Most of the people on here try and promote safe and legal ways to 'enhance' your car. There are a number of people on here however, who think they know better. Personally, I, and I am sure others here are waiting for the first post along the lines of rear subframe cracked.............. or driveshafts poked............. bounced off (insert object here) and crashed into....... I am not one of the "oldies" on here (only just past 30) but have been around the industry long enough to know how to do things properly. The old adage "do it once and do it right" is a motto that everyone should adhere to. If you can do it on the cheap chances are it will cost you more in the long run. Anyway good luck with the new car, I am sure you will love it. my piece of advice would be to spend $400 - $500, get your car lowered legally and properly (it will raise it slightly from its current point). you will save money on tyres as they won't wear as fast and the car will handle so much better

definitely camstain1............ and he is still trading, reading his feedback is very interesting though. he has 1500 overall feedback. He has sold over 1950 cars through Trade Me! Even if you take the 1500 feedback and average $1000 profit per sale, that makes $1.5mil. A $6k fine is like a slap on the wrist with a wet tissue!!!

Target 3 is a bit harsh - I don't mind the look of it, although I do have to agree with most of them. What were they thinking?
-
you won't need to run spacers or change the pcd(stud pattern). There are plenty of deep dish wheels out there that will suit. We have done plenty on 19's and even some on 20's no problems.
-
approx 60mm which is rather large for a 7" wide rim!
-
haha............ that was me luckily I have 3 trade me alias(s?) me, work, and my wife. Now all I have to do is think of something really really really clever to say!
-
There is ONE black one here at the moment - it belongs to the Head of Nichibo. He used to have that black R35 Skline coupe on 20's.
-
is it a 4 door sedan? If so I have kits in stock!
-
no we didn't..................... however we have decided to rename them "home of the virtual store"
