  1. Sounds mint, will pop in once you guys open :)

store is open NOW - magwarehouse are pissed at us cos they want the signing down! have told them if they want it down to go hire a cherry picker and take it down themselves :P We will only take it down when our new signs are ready.

Braeden - that is the kit we have in stock for E36 - fits nicely!

Foohey - check Trademe user CL5 for details.

  2. Just a quick note to let all our southern members know that we are opening a store in Christchurch. We have bought the old Magwarehouse store (in Ferry Road)and will be rebranding it in the next few weeks. We figured someone needs to give the Mag and Turbo down there a shake up!! We are currently open and trading trying to sell a lot of the old stuff that was leftover. Pop in and have a look - there are some real bargains to be had at the moment! A 40ft container of stock will be arriving in a few weeks full of bodykits, wheels, tyres, lowering springs, bucket seats etc.

Please note that we have NOTHING to do with the old owners or staff. Conversely if you know someone looking for a new job, please let me know. We are after sales staff, a manager and workshop staff. It would be ideal if you could do a bit of everything ie sell and fit.

    Cheers

    Johno

  3. yep still the same price :)

there is a common misconception that the "profile size" changes when you go to 35,40, 45 etc.

That number is actually an aspect ratio. It refers to the sidewall height of the tyre as a percentage of the width.

    so a 225/40/18 has a sidewall height of 40% of 225

    whereas a 225/35/18 has a sidewall height of 35% of 225

so in essence you are dropping 5% out of the overall height of your tyres.

Staggered fit tyres are generally the same overall diameter

ie 235/40/18 and 265/35/18 are the same overall diameter.

I could write a very long winded explanation but it is still early on monday morning and the caffeine has not quite reached my brain yet - do a search on the net for explanation of aspect ratios - hopefully then it will become as clear as mud :P

ps when you do a search use 'i' in tyre - silly yanks!

long story short - run 225/40/18's!

  4. isn't it funny how we all get off topic so quickly :P

The biggest prob with the TT legacy's is that the first turbo runs out of puff before the 2nd one kicks in. My old VR4 was hugely different, the turbos were so smooth, maybe the V6 engine made a difference too?

    edit: ran the spellcheck

  5. Are you Michael Schumacher, or could he just not drive? Because those Legacys handle ok

haha bit of both I think :P .Probably should have mentioned it was 94ish, he was one of those guys that could drive really quickly in a straight line!

  6. sevens are massively underated, they are nt much bigger than a 5 or a coomodre or whayever, and any engine problem with a 740 will me mirrored in a 540 ....You guys stick to your little cars, will make the 5 and sevens cheaper for those that like tanks as opposed to roller skates.

Mr E 34 a 540 would prolly be a relatively simple recipient for a m62,and a 740 would prolly use very very little extra fuel than ours...I was astounded at the mileage a 540 six speed can get.

I took the 740 (4.4 V8) from Auckland to Gisborne and back, averaged 9.6km/100km and that was driving the car HARD though the gorge from Opotiki to Matawhai(?). With EDC on and using steptronic mode left many a car (even a guy in a legacy TT wagon - he was pissed off) for dust through the twisty stuff!

  7. pressing the EDC button makes the 7 such a different car, heaps tighter and "sportier" to drive.

If anybody wants a 750IL V12 green with tan leather let me know. It has all the bells and whistles - right down to removable clipboards in the rear of the front seats. Too many buttons and gadgets to list!!

    or a 735 or a 740 :D

  8. you can buy 'off the shelf' lowering springs that give about 70mm drop for the front, you will need to shorten your front shocks to keep them captive. You don't need to compress your factory ones.

PS do you have a 4 or 6 cylinder E36?

  9. they = Trade Me, by stating they are replica's you are breaking Trade Me's terms and conditions. Replica wheels are deemed to be fake items and are not allowed to be sold on Trade Me. We have been caught out and have been discussing the issue. Trade Me have cited safety concerns - we rebuted this by showing them they meet all relevant safety standards, however they(Trade Me) are black and white on the issue, if we list any more we will have our account removed! Luckily the members on here are not quite so pedantic and will (hopefully) buy from us!

  10. putting a 215 on will definitely help. Look at a tyre like a direzza or Toyo as they have a narrower shoulder which will also help 'tuck' the wheel under more. Will drive so much better than a dirty old triangle too :P

  11. Ill go with the 19" if I was you, I know there is quite a price jump and there will be on the tires but your car should look dope as once its lowered with them...

As with the offsets, 35 is the correct offset for E36s...but lowering 80mm may give you mild rub.

I am running 18X7.5 with 225/40 and lowered 70mm front and 80mm rears accoring to the measurements of Pboy, I rub the inner plastics on full steer or near full steer and slight rub on the rear inner guards with people sitting in the back at turns but nothing enough to chew the tires...

stating 35 is the correct is simplifying things a little too much. It also comes down to the width of the wheel combined with the offset. The wider your wheel the higher offset you need to run. A 7.5 @ 35ET will not rub provided you use the correct upsize tyre, however if you run an 8.5@35ET you will need to roll the rear guards slightly if the car has been lowered. If you also lowere your car substantially IE lower than 100mm off the ground expect trouble. Take a look at the angle of the driveshafts for one, also expect huge camber wear on the rear etc. It has all been said here before, and us older people on here (I'm 32) do actually know what we are talking about. :)

  12. Poofff!

    anyway, update on my e36

had it lowerd 100ml all around, but aprently my fronts went 110 not sure.

But yeah heres this pics, im kinda keen to get it certed will this be posible? and when you pay for the cert and you fail, do you have to fork out another 300 or wateva it is?

    Regards

wait until you put the wheels on as the car gets certed with the size wheel that is on the car, so if you went to get a cert now it would only be with 15" wheels
