  1. running 215/40/17 on the rear (8.5) and 205/40/17 on the front (7.5)
  2. Hey penry you really can't compare the 2 tyres. The SP01 is an assymetric tyre and quite an old design now. The Sport Maxx is directional and Dunlops 'newest' tyre and has had hundreds of hours of development put into it.. 3pedals has them on his 3 series so again I don't know if you can really compare the comments he has made. Obviously a 7 series is hugely different to a 3 series in the way it handles and in the way it can de driven. We also have the Falken FK452 so will let you know pricing on Monday ZNeM
  3. will call you on Monday, cheers
  4. Cheers Glenn sounds like I need to book it in, should be too big a job I hope. Any chance before Xmas? Thanks Johno
  5. I have Dunlop Sport Maxx in stock, could courier them down and you could get them fitted at any tyre shop
  6. Hey guys - the ac fans in my E38 7 series have stopped working, all the controls still work and there is a light ticking when you try to turn the fans up. Any ideas - hopefully its a quick fix cheers Johno
  7. Hi Dan From your comments above I would recommend the Goodyear Eagle F1's. Most people on here would agree that it is a great allround tyre and it probably has the biggest kerb protector out of all the major brands. Toyo is another great brand although they do measure slightly 'narrower' than the Eagle F1. We supply, fit and balance tyres at Trade pricing for Bimmersport members. Check out the preferential rates in the sponsors section, or click the link that is beside the main wheels and tyres heading. We have 5 stores around the North Island Cheers Johno
  8. try the forum sponsors. H& R sponsor suspension forum. I would be trying them first, Click on the link to get their details. cheers
  9. alright, so I decided yesterday that I would go out and buy a new IPOD nano............... but was not as simple as I first thought . I quite like the new Sony video walkmans, I have always been a fan of Sony (ducks for cover), but now there is Samsung, Iriver, Philips, Scandisk..... the list is endless. I am not a particularly big fan of Apple but thought it may be best because of the huge range of accessories, however looking through tarde me. it seems that a lot of 'aftermarket accessories' fit a wide range of models. The sony is about the same size as the nano now and has done away with the old ATRACS system and uses drag and drop (perfect for the missus ) What is everyone else here using? The salesmen that I were talking to were pretty useless and didn't know much more than me. Most of them said the IPOD was best, but I think this was just due to their popularity. I have also heard the batteries are not too good and tend to crap out shortly after the warranty expires. any help/thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
  10. ok here are the facts You CAN run an 18 x 8.5 at 35ET with no rubbing if your car is lowered legally and properly. We tend to recommend 7.5's or 8's but if dish is your thing then an 8.5 WILL work with no rubbing, providing you put the correct size tyre on. If you choose to overtyre the car ie 235 it WILL rub. If you put a 235/40/18 or 245 at the back it WILL RUB! if you want your car really low LEGALLY you can put a 4 cylinder spring kit in a 6 cylinder (although I do not recommend it) Talk to the professionals is THE BEST piece of advice I can give you. We have lowered and wheeled over 150 BMW's in the last year or so. Showstoppin give me a call or PM me, come in and see us and we can give you the best advice on how to do everything LEGALLY!! Compressing springs is just asking for trouble. Get a set of properly made lowered springs - you will find the cost is very similar to compressing and 100% safer. we have plenty of wheels in stock to suit your car People don't realise that if you cut springs or do anything illegal and have a crash there are consequences! The law will come after you, if they can prove that the car was not up to a WOF level they will prosecute (expect BIG fine and/or JAIL TIME) and insurance will NOT pay out. Don't muck round do it ONCE, do it PROPERLY, and do it LEGALLY. big rant over
  11. how many cars out there would take this size tyre? I can think of a few - old skool starlet, Mazda 121 and the like. Not sure how many members here own and would be lowering and putting wheels on these types of cars?

    which rims?

correct pop in and see us and we should be able to sort it out. We carry a huge range of wheel studs locating rings etc, that come with our wheels. A lot of people unfortunately fall into the trap of buying wheels because they are cheap but forget to add in all the extra costs like locating rings, new studs etc. Half the time it works out to be more expensive anyway!

    which rims?

dude you should have come and seen me - that's what forum sponsors are for!!

    which rims?

do you get wheel studs with any of those wheels? looks like the mesh wheels will need a special 'thin head' or tuner style stud. also you will probably need a 4x100 wheel rather than multi fit as the heads of the studs will probably stick out past the edge of the spacer. You may also have to chop the heads of your studs in half to accomodate a multi fit wheel. just a few words of warning, I have come across this problem before. cheers Johno Mag and Tyre Direct If you are going to run bolt on adaptors and get your car certed what about these?

  16. best bang for buck is to get a set of lowered springs. compressing and shortening is not the way to go. As Yuen said search the forum a wee bit.. there is tons of good advice. cheers
  17. have you thought of checking out the forum sponsors hint hint........ not alot of the members on here like chrome wheels, but different strokes for different folks. What size wheel are you looking for?
  18. I have been in the tyre industry for quite a while now and do see a lot of 'muppet' jobs. Unfortunately Trade Me has contributed to this an awful lot. What seems to be the cheapest option can often turn into one big expensive exercise. (Could go into a side rant about Trade Me but...meh) A lot of people mistakenly think that a lower profile tyre will lower their car. Most of this problem comes from tyre shops looking to make a quick buck - they put a smaller tyre on because it costs them less in their wheel and tyre package. One of our biggest customers has switched to us because of this problem. The average consumer does not realise the technology and development that goes in to a tyre, and how important it is to upsize to the correct size tyre. We have quite a few people who come in with the wrong size tyres on their car, whether it be too big or too small. If you are CLEAR and EXPLAIN to customers WHY they have the wrong size tyre on and what PROBLEMS it can lead to 99% of the time people WILL change to the correct size tyre. The other 1% I don't really care about and would prefer not to deal with them. Potential side effects include: Making your auto slush box work way too hard You could affect the ABS computer - worst case scenario ABS fails KM's click up way too fast (tyre is too small) lots of speeding tickets (tyres too big) Acceleration is quicker with tyres that are too small but your engine works way harder + a whole lot more that I will not even go into.
  19. hahaha LMAO why oh why oh why would you put that size tyre on an E30?

  21. Your problem is 100% the tyres, they are too big especially for a SLAB car. It doesn't matter how much you roll the guards it will rub like a b*&st*rd Personally I would go with a 215/40/18 or 225/40/18 max. PM me for december tyre specials cheers Johno
  22. have 3 sets on their way, should be here around mid - end of Jan. Colour is hyper Silver with a machined lip. cheers
