  1. I graduated from the Wellington ARCH school and also did the sustainable architecture paper - a real eye opener with topics and statistics that added to my existing knowledge, thoroughly enjoyed it. Contrary to stereotypes, the lecturer did not wear a woollen jersey and was not there to convert us into buying property in Takaka and constructing composting toilets, etc. The paper encouraged passive solar design and choosing the most appropriate building materials that the budget allows (thinking about a product's whole manufacturing process as well). This same 'design responsibility' is already being seen in the car manufacturing industry (with recycling and reuse of plastics etc). Although I consider myself to be more environmentally aware, I will ALWAYS still be a consumer of resources and a car enthusiast who loves driving.
  2. Hi Ems, Welcome & nice ride. Great choice of upgrade against the Honda. Patrick
  3. Welcome Zoe, Nice ride, be sure to send us more pics of your pride and joy. Patrick
  4. MMMMMMM.... stunning, what a find... very true about a time machine being required to beat that!
  5. Welcome Jed! Nice ride, what upgrades do you have in mind?
  6. My mistake... perhaps from the excitement of procrastination, posting that list Although Idol had more hits on the UK charts, he was still lapped up over in the States though! Come on people! Some great bands/songs have been listed, but only by forum members with the courage to admit they're into 80s tunes. Let's get more posts up!
  7. Welcome Scott, Sweet ride, like those wheels! Show us some more pics please Patrick
  8. Damn straight! Simply too many to list. May I suggest 1980s tunes by geographic origin (Kiwi,Aussie, Euro, British, American...) Those 80's tunes simply need to be crankin' out of an E30! Let's see: Euroland Falco (Rock me Amadeus) - All time fave AHA (Take on Me) Brit: Duran Duran (Girls on Film, The Reflex, Notorious, A View To A Kill) Genesis/Phil Collins - too many great tunes... David Bowie - (Let's Dance, Cat People, Dance Magic Dance) and the rest of it... The Police - almost everything Wham - pure cheeeese Pet Shop Boys (What Have I Done to Deserve This? It's A Sin, Heart, West End Girls) Boomtown Rats (I Don't Like Mondays) Kiwi: Patea Maori Club - Poi E The Dudes Hello Sailor Dave Dobbyn and Herbs - Slice of Heaven Aussie: Icehouse (Electric Blue, Great Southern Land, etc) Real Life (Send Me an Angel) INXS - Suicide Blonde, too many to mention Midnight Oil Men At Work America: Billy Idol Devo (Now WHIP IT!!!) Madonna Prince SUB CATEGORY: 80s Cockrock Bonjovi, Guns n Roses, Whitesnake, Poison, Motley Crue Simply too many too get down, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. Many more to come!

    alarms

I was also looking at upgrading my alarm for the convertible (existing one is very temperamental and came with the car with only one remote). I was considering the Uniden 2600VX - 5 star. Have seen these on TM at the moment from a dealer in CHCH - going for $160 buy now/offered. I want one with 2 immobilisers and a siren that doesn't go through every emergency sound in the book... would prefer an alarm sound with only one noise (not 8+).
  10. From memory, there was a blue one on TM around July. It was located on the West Coast and maybe listed by a CHCH TM vendor (the car was definitely located elsewhere). I believe he wanted over 40K for it.
  11. Hey, quite alright - sorry about the delay in replying. I will put on my diplomatic hat and say that it depends what you are after: in terms of distance from campus and town, a college with lots of tradition vs a more youthful one with little or none of that... A large college (Unicol with 500+) or perhaps a more intimate table setting for meals. There are halls known for their study bunnies (St Margarets) and colleges with recent interior refits (Unicol and Arana for example). I encourage you to do your homework before ticking your preferences from 1-10 in the accommodation application form, so you hopefully get what you are after.
  12. Ha! You know Gilbert, Homeboy/Fellow in Residence! What a small world... not really though with two degrees of separation in Dunners. Good luck with the workload and don't stress too much!
  13. Hi, Are there any complete M-Tech II steering wheels available? What condition are these in and how much? Cheers.
  14. M3, then 350Z (both convertible versions of course!)
  15. Hi there,Is the chrome centre grill in good uncracked/unpitted condition? How much do you want for it? Have you still got the headlights? Cheers
  16. Welcome! Nice wheels (it should last a lot longer than the previous cars... and give you more street presence amongst the sea of Jap cars in Akl). I love the coupe, both E30 and E36 - the Bimmer types in my price range! Caryard or private sale?
  17. Welcome fellow student! Great colour, just love the coupe form. If the manual sunroof bugs you after a while, you might consider a power roof conversion (sometimes seen on TM).
  18. Hey Em, Thanks for the pic, I know what you mean about the architecture (without getting into any more OBH & OGH jokes). It's a lovely place to live, full of tradition - I'm residing there as the Ross Fellow for the next two years. The Bimmer's not always parked out front like that though! (only when the butler comes to fetch my bags)... Cheers, looking forward to meeting all of you local members.
  19. Hi, I would like to hear from the Dunedin crowd about where they take their E30s for WOF and servicing. Seeing as this is my first warrant with the new car I am looking for a mechanic (maybe ex BMW) who knows these cars. I heard a rumour that there was someone in Kaikorai Valley... Wish to avoid those quick-and-easy, while-u-wait WOF companies - for the moment anyway... Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Cheers.
  20. Fantastic to see that others out there also have a hoard of Duck family comics! Cheers.
  21. Thanks. Yeah, am not too sure when that M-Tech 2 body kit was fitted. Most likely an aftermarket addition by the UK owner.
  22. Definitely! Especially after that downpour from yesterday... The Dunedin winter has had some lovely sunny days like this. Wow! You know your cartoonists! Yes, I'm a huge Barks fan. Love those classic Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge comics.
  23. Hi everyone, I’ve been a member since April and have finally posted an introduction! The sun angle was just right this afternoon, but haven’t gotten around to doing the cut/polish and waxing yet (my apologies). I’m a Masters student in Anthropology (Archaeology) at the University of Otago and purchased my 1989 E30 325i convertible earlier this year - pre-facelift spec with power hood. Bought this car privately in Otago and am in the process of getting it looking just right: rear screen replacement and leather rejuvenation. Since joining I have found this forum an amazing resource. Cheers! Patrick

    ebay.de hep

Hey Dan, I can assist with translating a few things over there in the Fatherland... am more than happy to help with correspondence for items purchased. Are you after assistance with setting up an ebay account through the German site, or a bank account there? The latter option will be quite bureaucratic, to say the least... it's hard enough dealing with my existing German bank account from afar! (they are incapable of comprehending that a NZ student ID card is valid for the whole year and different to their system, so keep charging me fees! Always takes alot of time and paper work to sort out). I'm warning you here! Am perusing ebay.de at the moment and am using my NZ log-in, haven't bought anything yet but this should be fine. Have my eyes on an E30 M-Tech II steering wheel, which keep popping up there. Cheers, Patrick
