Well as some know, planning to take the 340i to the drag strip this Sunday to compete in the "Import vs V8" event being held at Ruapuna. Just looking for some expert tips and tricks to maximize my times on the day. Things I have done / plan to do: - Remove the high beam light to allow proper air flow to the CAI - Remove front and rear seats to lose some weight - Use 15" rims on the back with 205/50 rubber - Set rear tire pressure to 15psi - Have some spare concrete bags ready to chuck in the boot (in case I can't get traction) - Mounted a radiator overflow tank (due to regulations) Things that would be awesome but doubt will be able to do - Get some semi / full slicks - Adjust the suspension damper to have as much give as possible (Sam says it's a bit of a mission) Keen to get any further advice on what I could do / what I should probably not do. Any tip on launch technique for those in the know. Cheers

That is the one Josh!!! Now hurry up and fit them

spot on simon but 1500 + 4 lips PLUS 5 stud = might aswell just buy a house !
-
typo soz, timed it when I did not have LSD + drive shaft issues. That's all sorted so should have some very interesting acceleration now (can't wait to get it back from the mechanic) .
-
because it goes from 10-100k in 4.5 seconds
-
Absolutely but compare them to say.. They don't stagger in the way I like.
-
haha, Simon you are sooo last week man Went and saw the guy, he won't take less than 1500 which is a bit dear imo.. plus not a fan of the lips they don't look right.. or is it just me?
-
I can wait 4-6 months.. depends what you got? PM if you like

To be perfectly honest, I would LOVE a set of 3 piece 16/17" rim.. I am no fan of 18's on E30 but those Hartges are something special hence willing to give it a shot plus hopefully they won't look as silly as the pics you have posted as the center piece is far smaller / gradually dishes in making them look smaller. If someone wants to swap a 16/17" alternative with this set I'm all ears
-
Josh is running a set of 18" LM's.. weren't you keen on running 18's too? Or do you mean the offset is going to be too low hence stick out way too much and look odd?
-
Haha, I know.. I know.. Nah all good ay, if I can pull this off... 16" can go take a hike! Simon, as you said I am going to have to weigh everything up and see what happens. I don't know if I will let them go though considering I am KICKING myself that I sold the CH's.. Never know when these will come in handy even if I can't wrap the E30 around them! But yeh, if I get strapped for cash I might let you guys fight to the death for them (have had 4 requests already lol) .

Don't say that, now I'm gonna hate fox even moooore!
-
LOL... you didn't! I was literally just waiting for him to say that he would send them to chch for $600 and was gonna hit the buy now regardless... I officially hate you now foxy

Right time for an update. I have gone off and impulse bought again.. and go figure I just spotted 2 other sets of wheels that also just might work Anyhow, picked up a set of genuine 18x8.5" Hartge 3 piece rims 5x120 pcd and ET14. They were priced well but need a full re-furbish, 2 center caps and I will obviously have to get a 5 lug conversion + probably a Tech-II kit before it looks OK (in other words $$$$). If I can re-furbish them and get wider rear lips to fit.. big IF lol, might look something like this (I blame my impulse buy directly on Ari for posting this STUPIDLY hot v8 although I think it has 17's) On the other hand, I just spotted some racing dynamics rims which will be the cheapest option by far and will also be sweet to use on the race track. Then there are these... SSR Professor SP1's Your thoughts?

Stick to your guns man.. be staunch about the sale and don't give an inch. Have always adopted this approach when selling my cars and it's never failed. When you have MINT example car that's bloody hard to come by and have no reason to sell unless it's going to fund the upgrade you are the one in control Good luck! p.s. detailed pics of everything is a must though..

Sam was kind enough to whip some custom made nolithane engine mounts into the V8 however they are just too damn hard and shake the whole chassis, pretty soon bolts will be coming loose lol. So, has anyone had an issue where the stock engine mounts were not good enough and looked into an upgrade option? My mechanic seems to think "hooking" them is the way to go or finding an mount already fitted with hooks that will fit. Thinking it will have to be a rubber option. Any ideas?
