ideally I want a spare wheel kit like this for my E60, as long as it fits my E60 530i M-Sport http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-5er-E60-E61-Nachrustsatz-Notrad-mit-Bereifung-Pannenset-inkl-Wagenheber-NEU-/272598190768?hash=item3f781e4ab0:g:Ql8AAOSwYXVY0Dtl BMW Part Number is 36110308889 Yeah its just the space saver type, but that is all there is room for, I don't like having nothing at all and will being doing a road trip in 3 weeks time. If you can supply this, email me at [email protected] or PM me.

After a drive I park the car in the garage and close the door, if I go back out to the garage later on I can smell raw fuel. I have not noticed the smell inside the car at all.. the fuel cap could be to blame? it seems too easy to open when its done up and clicks.. but maybe its meant to be easy to open. Any common causes? i thought about that filter that you can access under the rear seat.. it has a metal cap over it, so could prevent the smell entering the cabin perhaps.

Thanks, yeah sticking with what I know. The old one is probably a more reliable platform overall, but thought an LCI 530i was a safe ish option.

Totally different cars, hard to compare really, the BMW is a lot more refined and quiet, still rides firmly being a motorsport model, but a good balance between comfort and handling to me. I find the steering better and seats better etc with the E60, at first active steering felt a bit strange but am used to it now. I would estimate that its a good 20% more economical on fuel than the 370 too, the newer 200kw engine seems fairly good on fuel, although its the N52 version rather than the more economical N53 version. I never really got attached to the 370 and do not miss it at all now that its gone, had it for just over 1 year and only ran up 10,000ks in it. It was decently fast, but still felt average handling wise when pushing it around corners. 6 Months ago I changed jobs and stopped commuting 80k a day to work and back, that was reduced to 9k a day with the new job, so the BMW will mostly clock up k's on road trips etc If i feel that I need to drive something quicker I can take the my partners Audi S6 for a thrash, although its the older 2001 model with the 4.2L V8 and is probably not that much quicker in a straight line anyway (No where near as good as the BMW on corners), but has that V8 noise. The Audi feels quite old fashioned and heavy / body roll etc on corners, although i'm sure a newer model S6 would be totally different. Not a big fan of i-drive, might look at upgrading it from CCC to CIC spec eventually and do my own retrofit.

Hmm my LCI 530i E60 just has the N52K so no direct injection, still has the same 200kw rating.. but fuel economy figures are not as good. Still, i'm probably better off without that direct injection.

Its been a while, I sold my E39 BMW 530i Motorsport around a year ago, bought a Nissan Skyline 370GT, which I have now traded on a 2007 E60 530i Motorsport (LCI Model)

Dealer Cost of Importing vs Sale Price
charles28 replied to OneSeventy's topic in General Discussion
Shipping + GST on the total amount is probably 4k on top of that 10k for the car mentioned. I would assume they aim for 5k profit approx, of course once they pay staff and other expenses the true margin is a lot less than that. They also have to cover the car under the CGA for the first 3 months, which is why they push those mechanical warranties, as this is a way of avoiding any liability. -
Car sold tonight, to a nice recently retired gent that also has a nice E38 740i , its a sad day, I think i will come to regret selling it, but 3 cars is too many for me.

Cars still for sale, I had someone look today. Here is some Hi Res Pics

The internet tells me the VQ37VHR is more economical than the 3.5L, but not by much, used all 330hp a couple of times in the last 2 days..for the odd blast. The last 2 days I've driven it to work in much lighter traffic than usual, also I think the dash says 7.7km per litre, which is nearer what you said i think hehe. I test drove the sedan model you had, the handling seems a bit sportier with the coupe, probably has a wider track etc but not sure.
-
hehe the fuel economy is probably the worst thing so far, not sure what i'm averaging, but around 12L/100k or so. But I got a fuel card for all my commuting recently from work, so I don't pay for it anymore, so thought, what the heck, i'll get something gas guzzling with some power for not a lot of money.

Selling the old beast, as I decided to try Jap for a while in the form of a Nissan V36 370gt Coupe. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1010388147

Very Nice car, great daily driver and good that its been looked after previously. I was tempted to buy it, but still have not go around to selling my 530i, which is already my 3rd E39 hehe

Back in 2009 when I owned it. Now http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-988723456.htm Had a good shell that car and was the best handling e30 I had out of the 3. Its still got the nice hood lining, but when I owned it, it had sport seats that had been re covered with the original material.

the seller has owned it for around 6-7 weeks. He's just flipping it to make $1k or so I assume. Original Auction http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-957316029.htm

Drained the cooling system yesterday, removed heater valve, disassembled, however all the seals looked good and there was hardly any sign of wear at all, which is just as well, the ebay repair kit I got wasn't the right one for my car. Re-assembled, topped up coolant, bled system, took the car for a big drive today, the fault has not re-occurred so far. I suspect it had an airlock in it, as that can cause issues with the heater valve apparently..

Thanks, will give that a go, have ordered the repair kit

Not much news. I Thought I had fixed the oil leak once and for all, cleaned all under the car, could see it was still leaking around the sump gasket, however checked all the bolts.. 3 of them were loose.. tightened.. ran car for hours, no sign of anymore leaking, did a 1000k road trip, still no sign of leaking, drive to work and back twice, oil leak is back. Have not bothered to recheck why its leaking yet. Another issue I need to resolve is the climate control. I can have my heater set on cold for both driver and passenger sides and intermittently I get hot air coming out of the drivers side vents. (happens about 3/5 times when I use the car now). It doesn't do it every time, if I have the A/C on the air is cold out of all the vents, however I usually just have it turned off with just the fan running bringing cooler air in from outside. I thought heater valve, but not sure if i'd have this exact issue. Today I gave the car a good wash and cleaned the wheels too.

Hi Guys, I'm having an odd problem. I thought heater valve, but if it was this, would it be intermittent ?

I'm having thoughts of selling my E39 and replacing it with an E36 330Ci, I know both of these cars have the same engine, but I like the idea of having the smaller car, also E46 330ci's are getting old so there's a few around for a good price. Is the E46 much less refined than the 5 series? are the sport seats in the E46's better bolstered than the E39 Sport seats? Will I even notice an increase in performance? Will the E46 have better handling? (To me the E39's handling is already pretty good).

http://www.jeffgraybmw.co.nz/ Some of the staff members have E30's, should know them well.

Excellent "drivers" car, not as practical as a Golf, but fun to drive for sure. (i'm sort of looking at them myself) Good Review Golf R32 vs 130i

Yes, it fixed it straight away, the old radiator looked ok on the outside too, but inside had started to collapse internally, perhaps due to too much pressure from the headgasket going.
