Coming together man starting to look like a real race car...exciting!
-
Contact your dealer to let them know then take it to a specialist to have a scan done.. could be a few different things... nothing money can't fix
-
Let it idle for 5min. Then rev it, do you see any smoke out the back?

If this info is correct, would it be better to use the b30 cams or the b32??

Ok so nothing got done.. ended up writing up invoices and get jobs ready for next week, washing cars and ready just sweet F A, no hoists are free and don't really fancy dropping it all out on the floor, maybe next week i might have better luck, off home to do some homely things, hope everyone else is weekend is more productive than mine.
I did however buy a cheap V8 e39 540 non vanos that runs mint and looks the part, only thing is it hasn't had a reg since 2014
Does anyone know of a fun event that i could use it in like some sort of gumball or under $1000 race, etc ???

Ok just getting a feel for it my partner Hayley is selling her wagon.. she brought it almost 2yrs ago and only done 15k in it, since she had it I've been constantly playing with it, fixing and upgrading this and that
in my option it is the nicest e46 you will ever find today
I have done a lot of work on this car bringing it up to a safe reliable vehicle and a lot of it was done as preventive measures so she would have a great BMW experience
whats been done from an already good car
water pump
thermostat
top rad hose
viscous hub
rear diff mount bush
steering knuckle
spark plugs
fuel filer
pollen filter
all ign coils
pcv valve / oil separator and 4 pipes off this under intake
new bumper front and rear
new xenon headlights
new hankook tyres on 17" bbs wheels and wheel alignment
interior is immaculate m-sport with paddle shift steering wheel
ive upgraded the spring tensioner at the front of the engine to the hydrolic tensioner type with new Pulley's and idlers and main belt
a/c is super cold and everything works as it should with no faults at all on diagnostics scans
8" sub in compartment hidden in boot
has no oil leaks, the rocker cover gasket, oil filter housing gasket and sump and o-rings all been done
She's a bit OCD so there has never been anything more than a crumb in it, cleaned every week and stored out of the weather
In the process of rebuilding the vanos system ATM just waiting for parts
I love this car that's why I like working on it, but she wants a new one, I'm posting on here because I know it will go to someone who can apprishate and look after it.
Looking for offers above 10k...

What ever you go for get a mechanical warranty. You may have to do the electrical water pump and thermostat at 80-120k which will come to the same price as a warranty plus it gives you pice of mind motoring

Tomorrow I'll be dragging out the car and removing the clutch set up and taking it in so the whole set up can be balanced together, then start tiding up the body work, got some new m3 front and rear bumpers that are going off to get new paint well maybe just the front as I don't really mind the cable tie stitches in the rear lol.

Are you stroking the motor out to s50b32 specs?
Nope the stroke will remain the same as I'm using the s50b30 crankshaft at 85.8mm stroke I think the b32 is 89mm stroke.

What cam are you going to use?
Are you looking at getting the supertech springs to maybe save you if you money-shifting it or just performance?
I'm sure the block will continue to have a great life
Waikato engine reconditioners have one they hired in, I'm going to use the stock s50b32 intake and exhaust cams with a vanos delete and custom cam timing...
ive done a lot of research into the valves and springs and just aftermarket valve train in general and many sleeps lost and found a few people having valves and retainers broken and them reverting back to the stock set up, I'm going to keep the revs to 7000rpm max and run what I got, I'm not sure the turbo will flow much after that anyway...
Hell yeah this blocks got a new lease on life... for how long we will see haha

23 minutes ago, zero said:What size are you getting the block bored to?
86.5mm so not much over factory, I measured the bore in different places and it was all over the show I'd say this block has had a pretty good life lol

So dropping off the block to get tourqe plated and bored to fit the pistons tomorrow, after that the all the components for the block will get balanced and then installed, I'll try get photos of the processes if I can. The only thing missing is a good clutch.. I could use my clutch in my car already but that would require me removing my engine and gear box now and it's still driving and driving well...
im toying with the idea of getting new supertech valves and springs but a cost of around 2k is making me wonder what difference would it make???

The demister issue re the heavy heater box removal with the a/c system, find yourself a Nz new non a/c e36 heater box, they weigh nothing... good luck with the build looks like a lot of fun

I guess so, I, Athena cooper ring gasket. They seem to be a better gasket for boosted applications going off what the internet says lol

Update: S50B30 engine crankshaft has been polished and rotating assy is getting ready for balancing , All bearings are within spec too, i was a little worried about this one, didn't really want to go ordering oversize bearings...
